I would definitely recommend having a microwave and fridge ( I rented from Micro Fridge), a fan, a reusable water bottle, snacks, headphones, a power strip (the dorms don't have too many plugs), command hooks (lots and lots of command hooks :)), shower caddy, shower flip-flops, padlock (if your bathroom has lockers--ours did, but I don't know if Beachside has them). You don't need too many warm clothes because Long Beach stays in the 70s-80s pretty consistently all of fall semester. Spring will be a bit cooler, and it still gets cool in the evenings, but I wouldn't recommend bringing scarves, coats, or boots of any kind. I hope this helps!
Hey! I was watching some of your older videos and you had to go boxes from the dining hall, so are those provided? You can bring food back to your dorm? I'm attending this fall btw. :)
Hi! Yes, those are provided. At the beginning of the academic year, housing gives you a yellow token and the black token. You can exchange the yellow token for a to-go box and the black one for a to-go cup. You get them before going into the dining hall, and the idea is that you take food back in them but can't eat in the dining hall for that meal, if that makes sense.
URGENT!!! Hey May, hope you are doing great. I'm considering CSULB for my graduate application but as an international student I've been hearing a lot that it is a extremely commuter school and there will be very few people left around campus and literally no college life, as also I've been thinking to apply CSU chico for which I heard quiet opposite that its a college town and most of the students live around the campus, so it is kind of urgent for me to decide, could you please shed some light on this. Thanks in advance for your time.
Hi! I'll be attending CSULB this upcoming Fall and I'll be moving to one of the apartments nearby, and I was wondering if there are certain schedules for the transit buses? Or do you kinda just wait for them to come
There are set schedules--you can look them up online or use the Long Beach Transit app, but Google Maps also should tell you. You put in your destination and put "transit," and it should show you the number of the bus and what time it will arrive. It's not always accurate though, and I've waited like an hour for the bus before because it didn't come when it said it would :(
Hey May!! I am an international student. I am going to come there in August. I had a question. Actually I have applied for a Biology major but I am also interested in music (guitar), so can I take guitar classes and classes of my major simultaneously ?? Or do I have to completely change my major to Music?
Hi! Sorry for the late response. You can absolutely take classes in departments other than your major, but there are some limits. For some classes, you might have to add at least a music minor but there should be some available without it!
So helpful! I will be attending as an English (creative writing) major in the fall =) would you consider doing a video about the English program?
Yay!! Oh my gosh that's so exciting! And yes, I will try to do that. I hope to see you around campus!
Yes thank you for this!
I'm moving into Beach Side Dorm Next Month! Do you have advice or ideas for things to bring in the dorms?

Get textbooks from ebay or amazon.

Hi May!! I am really glad that you answered. Thank you so much💖
@@mahekpatel300 Of course!
Hi! I’m also an English major. Is it possible to do a double emphasis?
Yes, as far as I know! A lot of the classes overlap so it would totally be possible to fit it in :)
