i cannot comprehend why very few peeps know of this movie, for their beautiful characters, especially the main character who is VERY pretty and attractive, and interesting comedian scenes. By the way, without doubts, this song has some very dreamy and even tad other-worldly vibes from it. lol
I miss the kind of culture _capable_ of creating the cyber punk genre. The technophilia and corporate cuckery of the modern age is a real life horror to anyone from Gen X. Something has gone terribly wrong with this generation's youth. They have FEELINGS for companies and view technology as a personal definition. It's disgusting.

Roujin Z was the first anime movie I had ever seen (it was amazing - I was in middle school), and it was on Sci-fi's anime Saturdays...back when that channel was true to its name.
I watched this as a kid in the late 1990s and was totally blown away by this tune (over the end credits, I think). My little sister had recently spent a year in Tokyo and translated the song title and I found it on Napster (or maybe WinMX, remember that, and LeechHammer???). It lived in my CD Walkman for a long time after that, and I'm still amazed by the wonderful harmony in the almost ghostly end section. If you like the singer, Mishio Ogawa, check out her song "On the Road" from the album "4 to 3".
Dude thank you for this comment, I loved reading about your story with this song and I actually went and checked out On the Road. It's an amazing, ethereal song. Thank you so much for the recommendation! :)
Same boat as you, saw it on tv and the song really stuck with me. About a year ago someone reminded me of Roujin Z and I first thing I did was find the song again, almost cried.
This song drove me crazy for YEARS. Is it okay to like a song if you can't understand the lyrics? Of course it is. I only that it was called. Bicycle go! Or something. This song taught me about the wonders of anime music.
This is one of my most favorite anime songs of all time and I was looking for it for YEARS. Thanks for uploading this, genesis2525. Especially love it from that guitar solo to the end... the music and her voice gets all dream-like!

A bicycle that can cut the wind, carrying my dreams Let's go, wherever we go The road is smooth and unhindered I had so much fun The bike I rode with you Back then, we were both innocent hearts, weren't we? Out of the crowd, bouncing my heart out Wow, wow, wow, my back, my arms, my sleeves Hands and knees and scrapes The sky, the night, the scenery Everyone is changing and moving I'm riding with hope on my bike, climbing the hill Let's go, wherever we go The road goes on forever Let's sing a song Let's run together Wow, wow, wow, the trees, the sand, the roads Fire, steel, and buildings Cranes, turtles, and strawberries They're all changing and moving I'll carry the wind and the song I'll carry your dreams with me I'll carry a song with me I'll carry your dreams with me Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow...

@patokid No, Bun Itakura did NOT perform this song (although he might have produced it, not sure). The REAL artist is Mishio Ogawa and the Japanese title is "Hashire Jitensha". I hope this info helps you find the song! :)

I remember seeing Roujin-Z for the first time on the Sci-Fi Channel's Animation Festival.
Same channel, but they had "Saturday Anime" in the 1990s
Those were the good years.

the lyrics fits the rhythm, melodies and tunes of this song: simply dreamy and even some kind of clumsiness.
