What's Happening With The SkyWings?

- The SkyWings. Known for their militaristic ways, their incredible flight speed, and their super passionate national pride. The SkyWings seem to have been a rather stagnant and uninteresting tribe for the past few centuries. But there is an interesting trend starting to unfold within the Sky Kingdom. For centuries SkyWings grew more and more aggressive, and their queens became more tyrannical with time. Now, they have reached the tipping point, and it appears backlash against this shift is in full swing. So what’s in store for the tribe? Can the Sky Kingdom retain its superpower status? Will the newly reinstalled Queen Ruby be able to preserve order? Let’s find out.
I'VE DISCOVERED MOTION BLUR AND I'M NEVER GOING BACK!
I love this style of geopolitical content. It seems like a mix between WoF content and GeographyNow, which I'm really enjoying it.
5:32 I also love the random cut to WoF countryballs
Glad I'm not the only one! WoF history and geopolitics is my whole deal lol
Although Skywings are basically the most "normal" of the WOF dragons, but damn, I can't help but love them. They got great lore and world building. You made a great observation of the whole tribe and its history, it felt almost like a history documentary haha
History is my thing!
@@PyrrhianNerd History sure is awesome :D
I actually made all three Pantalan tribes their own flags inspired by this series! Both the HiveWings and SilkWings have flags that have words on them, that read "IN CLEARSIGHT WE TRUST.". HiveWings have a bee on their flag (with black, yellow, and orange representing their scales and descendant from Clearsight) and SilkWings have Purple, Blue, and White with an orange butterfly. The white represents silk, the blue and purple represent the sky and their royalty, and the orange butterfly represents flamesilk. And LeafWings have a bunch of green on their flags idk.
I've started making Pantalan flags too! I made a HiveWing one partially inspired by the USSR, I've begun trying out designs for the LeafWing factions, and I still don't know what to do for the SilkWings
@PyrrhianNerd Awesome! I might try to post something short about Pantala soon!
This is my favorite video, with my fav creator, with my favorite tribe of all time.
Thank you
keep up the great work
edit 1:btw have you considered that tui could have made a skywing civil war a realty, who would win in that possibility of that war, Scarlet's or Ruby's side
edit2: if scarlet played undertale what would her lv be
Thr civil war is pretty much a thing that's actually happened, and Ruby is already winning. She already killed Scarlet and now it's only a matter of time before her loyalists surrender

This is definitely better than the rainwings analysis video although the nightwing and sandwing analysis videos are still my favorite .
In terms of editing? I would agree, but in terms of material and topics covered I'd say as of now the NightWing and RainWing ones are still my favorites
Thanks for this! Quite close to how I imagined it.
Some thoughts and ongoing situations (From own interpretations and headcanons: Prepare for wall of text):
*[The Agate Mountain Enclave]*
Way down south just within Skywing territory are the dragons of Agate Mountain, although biologically they are undeniably Skywing, their distance to the palace and difficulty in contacting them through the vast mountain ranges makes them quite the troublesome subject. Prior to Queen Carmine’s “All Skywings fly together” programme, the dragons of Agate Mountain are largely neglected and are resentful to the palace due to being ordered around despite the lack of proximity.
They speak a radically different dialect compared to other Skywings (Which already had a lot of regional nuances to begin with due to how vast its demise was) and even after that initiative, they still feel extorted by the palace due to all the harsh work quotas, particularly in the mining sector, for comparatively little gain. Although they have grown more complacent since Queen Scarlet bribed the local lords to keep these subjects and industries in check, Queen Ruby may make a move in removing this corruption, and instead try to replace the wider populace’s begrudging complacency with genuine admiration and loyalty.
Regardless, the founding of Possibility and Sanctuary, and their rise to global relevance in recent years has proven a single tribe of dragons do not have to be under the appropriate crown to prosper. With either “Palace snobs go home!” or “Allied but equal” as their motto, one thing is clear: They want out.
*[The Skywing Partition Project]*
The Skywing Partition was an early movement to break up the Sky Kingdom into multiple smaller independent states. This obviously did not gain much traction, but this comes to show that the Sky Kingdom is home to a multitude of cultures within the same tribe, and that it might not be long before the highly centralised structure of classical Pyrrhian monarchies becomes impractical as populations and economies grow.
The Skywing partition proposes the following states:
-Highreach, which contains the current palace and the vast forests and plains of Pyrrhia’s “Wing”
-Seaspray, taking up most of the northwest side of the Claws of the Clouds Mountains, consists of Skywings who have developed a strong culture around fishing and living on the plains rather than the mountains
-The aforementioned Agate Mountain Enclave
-The Eastern Protectorate, which contain numerous Seawing enclaves and settlements left all the way since the Legends era
-The Keep of the Delta, which is essentially all the Sky-Mud disputed territories with a mixed population of both
-The Western Commune, alternatively named the Five-Tail Commune, would take up the western side of the river, with Possibility to its west, and Sanctuary to its south. They have similar voices to the Agate Mountain Enclave, but more subdued due to continued investment of the region and maintenance of proper administration
The Eastern Protectorate and the Keep of the Delta may be tempted to simply reintegrate themselves to their mother tribe who themselves would have a far easier time asserting their claims should they secede to begin with.
*[The Skywing Military]*
Undeniably the most competent and numerous force in both Pyrrhia and Pantala, the Skywing professional army is not to be trifled with. It is true that the Hivewings are mighty and surpass them in many ways, but sustained military conflict against peer threats is not one of them (To digress: The Hivewings conducted wargames with each of the Pyrrhian tribes and got absolutely bodied each time)
With the mightiest fliers by virtue of biological advantage, most armies can only hope that their overconfident commanders blunder in order to create a favourable exchange of forces, but even then, the Sky Kingdom is vast, and it has a large pool of able-body dragons to call upon in times of need.
Furthermore, their fire breath makes smelting iron and even forging steel a more reasonable task. Combined with the vast iron and coal reserves within their mountains, almost every frontline regiment will be seen covered in a fair amount of plate armour - A novelty to the likes of Sandwing or Mudwing soldiers.
*[The Skywing Economy]*
The Skywings are blessed with the mineral riches of the mountains and the fertility of the plains and woodlands, this means that essentially anything a civilisation of the time needs to function is already within its borders, with plenty of excess to export.
They are also skilled in the way of metallurgy and masonry: The finest tools and castles are made by Skywings after all. Thus, it is no wonder why Skywings have superpower status: This amount of wealth is bound to create a powerful nation, and these clever folk ensure that they do not grow complacent by encouraging competition, be it amongst themselves or with foreign industries abroad.
They have the highest GDP in all of Pyrrhia as well as top 3 in Scales per Head (GDP per Capita) with a steady growth rate, and although they are a distant second place to the Hivewings, the diffusion of technologies, ideas, and markets between the two continents may even the playing field.
Interesting... a lot of what
you said is very plausable. I do find it interesting that the southerm mountains do
seem to br unoccupied but I am developing a theory/headcanon that they were once SkyWing territory and are now a sort of disputed area with no clear allegence. And like the SandWings but to a lesser extent I would say the SkyWings could be divided into multiple cultural states due to their geography. One thing I mentioned in the video was ths possinlbility for local leaders to demand more autonomy over their provinces. As for the economy I completely agree, I have believed the SkyWings havr the highest GDP in Pyrrhia and they have SO many resources
Lets go skywings are finally getting mentioned more:D
:0 The Skywing anthom played during it :)
lets gooooooo we finally dropped skywing
Let’s go pyrriannerd uploaded
Icewings next ?
Not yet, I will do the IceWings once I read book 14. there will be some other videos before the next tribe video. I already know which one I am doing but I'm not gonna announce it yet
Sea wings?
I can't say anything yet
I have an au whee the Sandwings and skywing engage in a war around 100-200 years after the 15th book for possibility. The Skywings end up winning and the queen gives her brother full rule over possibility but he turns into a terrible leader. Think of it as if vulture ran the scorpion den.
That's a possible and realistic scenario
One word, amazing
NEW PYRRHIANNERD VIDEO WOOHOO 🎉🎉🎉
0:06 [insert propaganda song here]
Let’s go!!
I love watching these videos and pretending I'm a dragon watching the news in Pyrrhia
fr
Are the skywings still in civil war by the end of arc 3?
The tail end of it likely
WOF COUNTRYBALLS AUTOMATIK W
YAY!!! PYRRHIAN NERD UPLOADED
Well i mean less protection more like just something to slow the enemy down I mean they are dragons after all they can fly over hills.
There are exceptions. Some hills are enchanted. Icewings have this, and Nightwings used to have this, too, only Darkstalker's magic sadly seems to lack permanence.
@ yeah your right about that although I have not seen any for the skywings quite yet. And besides they killed all of their animus dragons as soon as they found out kind of like firescales.
@@u.v.s.5583 he probably for got to say make the enchantment still go even if the object it is enchanted on breaks that’s why he is still alive and his immortality still was working but his other spells did not.
Yes, for dragons they are less so barriers and more so slowing down the enemy. However I imagine sone military troops may be on the ground if they are carrying a lot of heavy supplies. I think if I recall correctly WoF has both air and ground battles
@ ground battles are usually in areas with lots of fortifications or in forests but as far as movement goes I mean even if they did a lot of ground battles they would probably fly to get to the front line and then transition to ground
Superpower status means that they will have high influence also rember nightwing mind reading still counters rainwings abilities and other tribes probably will still develop armor so uh mabeye superpower mabeye not 50/50
I still do think the RainWings will become very strong, even with the possibility of venom proof armor. And when it comes to NightWings, I think a majority of them will no longer be in the Rainforest by the end of the decade. I'll make a video on that topic
@ who do you think would win in a potential future war rainwings or nightwings I mean mind reading will allow for anticipation of where rainwings are sure venom is pretty powerful but it dose not have as much range as fire. And as for armor it kind of negates rainwings venom so I can see future queens prehaps giving them war clubs I mean nothing is cheaper than big stick in a forest that can be used as a weapon not to mention the ability of just heavy blunt objects to cause concussions through armor is unparalleled.
Honestly it might be a tossup. I will eventually fo a Rainforest Civil War video as I've been saying fot a while but between specifically the RainWings and NightWings I think its a tossup
Do you think that prehaps later on skywings might get fed up with dictatorship and start a civil war intentionally. I mean we have not quite yet seen it from other tribes even the silkwings it was not really a full blown civil war and this is different from the sandwings as it’s quite clear who is in power . I mean I agree with you that they will most likely revert back to a dictatorship once ruby dies also ruby dose not have a daughter so probably chaos will erupt kind of like what happens with the mudwings .
I'm thinking after Ruby, Cliff will become king. Unless she has a daughter later on, Cliff will inevitably become the heir. And I do think it's entirely possible for another civil war to break out if the government becomes more unpopular but I think there will likely be gradual reforms to quell unrest
@ also cliff seems a bit stupid I mean currently although he is a little baby so really not to stupid although the worst case scenario is if ruby gets killed right now I see the potential in skywings becoming a mining based economy and there sandwing neighbors probably becoming an industrialized economy I mean skywings most certainly are masters at explosive based mining they have access to dragonflame cactus much more than other tribes I did not see that get talked about like in any video.
Oh yeah definately, they have a mining economy. I think right now SandWings have a textile and crop economy but in the future I exoect both SkyWings and SandWings to become more industrialized. And Cliff is literally a child lol, he has plenty of time to mature
The SkyWings are in a civil war?
Yeah, Scarlet and her loyalists had been in a struggle for the thron against Ruby. It's not like once Ruby came to power everyone instantly started supporting her, she tried to pull out of the war but there were a lot of soldiers who still supported Scarlet
Just discovered your channel today.
Well, to start off, your intro feels really old school. Reminds me of something from the 1970s or 80s. As someone who enjoys old things, I like that.
Second. Dragons fly. Wdym transport goods? Now, my head cannon is that certain dragon’s transport massive amounts of goods on their backs, making them analogous to not merchants, but truckers.
Third, I think the CoC Mountains would be too much of a hassle to deal with. While I do see SkyWings enjoying the mountain tops, from what I can tell, most of them live on the solid ground on either side of the range. In my head cannon, I see this as an areas called the CoC Freezone or Bufferzone (or so), a neutral area controlled by no state.
With trade, sure they could transport some on their backs but in terms of transporting really large amounts of resources it seems more plausible that they may use boats or carriages.
As for the mountains, I think you're right that they're sparely populated but what I was taljing about were military bases and hideouts for Scarlet. We see a bit of this in book 7
Also the intro will be updated eventually, I just like the vibe as of now lol, it's kinda inspired by vintage Epcot
As for the bufferzone, I do see that being the case with the southern CoC, where Jade Mountain and Agate Mountain are. from what we see it seems like an international zone
Next step: Buying oil from the Sandwings
Did you say... OIL???🛢🛢🛢
Skywings can already commit arson whenever they would like to so they dont really need oil.
oil has many MANY uses, trust me if they discover it they will want it
200 grams of oil is worth almost 2000 calories and thats just olive oil
Well I meant it can be used for so many things like imdustrialization and technology, and to make all sorts of goods, etc. Oil can power a society
And do the other tribes
I have plans to eventually
Under an hour gang
👇
Do moon rising but it’s dumb
I will eventually, after I do The Dark Secret and The Brightest Night
