I'd like to share my perspective on the recent weather in my area. Yesterday, the temperature reached 115°F, which is indeed typical for this time of year. As a resident of this region, I'm not overly concerned about this forecast. While it's natural to wonder about the causes of extreme weather events, I've come to expect a certain degree of variability in our local climate. In fact, mornings typically start out at around 100°F +, with temperatures rising even higher during the summer months.
As someone who has lived in this area for some time, I've learned to approach weather forecasts with a balanced perspective. Rather than jumping to conclusions or making sweeping statements about climate change, I believe it's essential to take a step back and consider the natural fluctuations that occur in our environment. By doing so, we can better understand and prepare for the changing weather patterns that are an integral part of our local climate.
It was 83°F in NYC as of today at 12PM. During the past five years the temps at the same time on the same date are as follows:
    2023: 93°F (33.9°C)
    2022: 89°F (31.7°C)
    2021: 87°F (30.6°C)
    2020: 88°F (31.1°C)

I acknowledge that I comprehend the fundamental principles governing high-temperature phenomena and their implications for human experience. However, I must express confusion regarding the disparity in perception between cooler temperatures and those observed in previous years. This year's temperature has indeed been cooler compared to the past few years, which has led me to question the widespread concern and alarm being expressed. I am aware that this period of the year typically corresponds to the hottest temperatures due to the Earth's elliptical orbit, which results in the Sun being at its closest point to our planet. This astronomical phenomenon, known as perihelion, occurs around early July and is a natural consequence of the Earth's tilt and orbit around the Sun. Specifically, I find it perplexing that some individuals are describing this period as a dangerous time, seemingly downplaying the significance of the hotter temperatures experienced in recent years. I would appreciate clarification on what specific factors are being cited as justification for this alarmism and what specific consequences are expected to arise from this temporary cooling trend.
