There’s a reason why everyone who has ever met Mel loves him. There’s a reason why he had one of the strongest marriages in Hollywood with Anne Bancroft, and why he had one of the strongest friendships with Carl Reiner. There’s a reason why his movies never go out of date. There’s a reason why his mind remains just as sharp as he nears his centennial. There’s a reason for all of it-he is a man who engages with the world on a deep level. He remains curious and active. He never slows down. I admire him more than I can say and am so grateful for my autographed picture of him and Carl, which both of them signed for me. In the picture, they are hugging. It is a symbol to me of what I aim to achieve with my friends as the years go by. May Mel have many more happy, wonderful years!
Wow... his energy at near 100 is incredible. The amount he moves around when he is speaking at his age is not something I've ever seen. I don't think there's a chance I'll live that long, but I hope I can be that lucid and physically able until the rest of my life.
He was on a British chat show one and they asked him about Spaceballs 2. his response was I don't do 2's. I might do "Spaceballs 3 - The Search for Spaceballs 2" I loved that
Having Mel Brooks still around is like having a living time traveler and time capsule all in one. He's created so many masterpieces and interacted with so many all stars, I could listen to him for hours. What's great is if you watch him from 30-40 years ago, he's the same guy, always that great sense of humor, upbeat, super sharp, even at his age now, wow.
Did I just get misty eyed the moment I heard Ben's voice crack thanking Mel for all he's done...? Heartfelt. I have to give a shout out to History of the World Part 1 which helped educate my early teen years: A pack of Trojans are not Cigarettes 😇 I loved how Mel could squeeze in a good musical number, too. The Spanish Inquisition anyone?! What a show/The Inquisition 🎶 Questionable taste (like greed?) is good.😅
Spaceballs. His second best. His best you ask? Robin Hood Men in Tiights and the reason for that is my Grandmother and me seen in in the theatre when it came out and my Grammy laughed at that movie harder than everone in the whole place. Great memory for me. She's still here. She's 95.
I have watched Young Frankenstein so many times that I know all the lines by heart, but I still laugh at those actors giving them every time! I love what Anne Bancroft said about when Mel came home at night: "He makes me laugh a lot. I get excited when I hear his key in the door. It's like, 'Ooh! The party's going to start.'"
I love Mel Brooks and all his films. What a brilliantly funny man. So sharp and talented after all these years. May he continue to live on and on. He's an original!
Mel Brooks is one of a kind. Spaceballs is my favorite of his films, followed by Robin Hood: Men in Tights. But a few years ago I re-watched Young Frankenstein after having not seen it in over a decade, and I still laughed hysterically. That movie still holds up today and is still as funny as ever.
Ben! I was choking up with you! Thanks for doing this interview with Mel Brooks. Michael McClary, Professor of Trumpet 🎺, Georgia Perimeter College and GSU 😂❤
I love this man and thank him for all the laughs I desperately needed throughout my life. I’m so happy he’s still with us and running strong! Mel please make a RobinHood Men in Tights part 2 PLEASE!!!
We need more people that thumb their nose to the “You can’t”s. It makes the world a more smarter, interesting, multifaceted, funnier place. Thank you, Mel.
Grew up on Mel Brooks. Raised my kids on Mel Brooks. My kids have shared the genius of Mel Brooks with their spouses and friends. I KNOW Mel Brooks films will be shared with our granddaughters. He is the definitive Master!
Mel is a cinematic genius. I love his movies. I have the Blu-Ray collection. Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, Blazing Saddles & Robin Hood: Men In Tights are my personal favorites.
Really wished he made more films before he retired, there'll never be another Mel. I think he could still star in a mockumentary about an aged parody filmmaker making his last film, which is of course, is a mockumentary! 😅
... I feel pretty confident that Mel might have just taken the world record for oldest man making cat noises.. Intentionally, I mean. Dude's a treasure.
Some of the best one liners comes from his movies. He shot my hair! They are simple folks, peasants, you know, Morons! Fox the villagers! And the most famous of all time, It's Good to be the king!
Ben is no chopped liver either. Scion of one of the greatest Hollywood families and who's father was RFK's press secretary and almost a California Senator.
Dude is 98 ! Look at his speech a couple of weeks ago when he won a lifetime Peabody award. Just try to catch up with him, he is so quick , If I could be 98 and as sharp as he is being 98 would actually be OK.
I love Blazing Saddles, Robin Hood: Men in Tights and even Dracula: Dead and Loving it.......but havent sat down for Young Frankenstein or even the Producers.......do I have to make time for em soon? Whattya think?
Omg YES, BOTH!! But personally, my tie for first place are Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein!! I’ve been quoting lines from both of them to my sweetheart for 33 years!! Love them all though, but those tie for my first place!

there's a reason why this comment is a chore to read
I fell asleep reading, what’s the reason?
@@RemusBriclebrack I guess my writing must be a dream come true for you!
He looks and sounds fantastic for 97. And completely lucid. Wow.
I want to be as acute as Mel when I (hopefully) reach that age. Inspirational.
He has become Yogurt.
He sounds 10 years younger than Trump and Biden
Agreed 💯 percent
@shamusomalley4263 agreed 💯 percent 👍
He might not ever become a 2000 year old man, but I truly hope Mel Brooks becomes the oldest man alive in the near future.
That would be one of his best gags. 😂

The Greatest producer, director, comedian and showman of all time-- Mel Brooks, a Hollywood legend-- may he live to be 100 and beyond.
It's like he's doing a standup set! Amazing that Mel Brooks is still hilarious at 97. Thank you for sharing.
All that creative talent...
And, a kind heart.
A true Mensch

I don't know who that Ben guy is. What did Mel Brooks do for him?
It's good to be da King.
Mel Brooks is a *National Treasure* of comedy, satire, and joy!
Thank you for uploading this for all of us who couldn't be there in person. MEL BROOKS FOREVER!
Spaceballs. His second best. His best you ask? Robin Hood Men in Tiights and the reason for that is my Grandmother and me seen in in the theatre when it came out and my Grammy laughed at that movie harder than everone in the whole place. Great memory for me. She's still here. She's 95.
Every time I see an update on Mel these days, I get nervous 😅 I'm so glad he's blessed with health and longevity 🙏
this man is a golden piece of hollywood history! I salute him so much

You know, used to think about that, Mel coming home. That's real love. My husband left so fast he forgot to pack!!
Wow, Mel Brooks is almost 98 and he is on fire!! 😃💚
We need a 50th 4K of Blazing Saddles approved by Mel!
I love Mel Brooks and all his films. What a brilliantly funny man. So sharp and talented after all these years. May he continue to live on and on. He's an original!

Mel Brooks makes my day every time I see him, whether on interviews or movies, or (I still have hopes) in person. Mel, you're my eternal hero!

Mel Brooks is about to be remembered for being one of the last WW2 vets more than his entire career.
I love this man and thank him for all the laughs I desperately needed throughout my life. I’m so happy he’s still with us and running strong! Mel please make a RobinHood Men in Tights part 2 PLEASE!!!
I swear, comedy is a natural preservative for the human spirit. ♥️
Love this man. His book was great ❤
We need more people that thumb their nose to the “You can’t”s. It makes the world a more smarter, interesting, multifaceted, funnier place.

Bringing smiles to people is truly noble work. Thank you, Mel, for a life of smiles.

Mel is a cinematic genius. I love his movies. I have the Blu-Ray collection. Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, Blazing Saddles & Robin Hood: Men In Tights are my personal favorites.
With those cuts, Blazing Saddles wouldn't have been the funniest movie ever made. I adore you Mel!
Mel makes 97 look fun. How does he have such energy and joie de vivre at his advanced age? If there's a secret to aging gracefully, he knows it!
Young Frankenstein & SpaceBalls are my favorite Mel Brooks films. Along with Frank Sinatra, my father idolizes Mel Brooks
Mel Brooks and Frank Sinatra - your father has good taste. 👍🏼
Frank Sinatra idolizes Mel Brooks, eh? ;)
Really wished he made more films before he retired, there'll never be another Mel.
I think he could still star in a mockumentary about an aged parody filmmaker making his last film, which is of course, is a mockumentary! 😅
Proof that being a comedian helps you stay lucid and healthy right into your late 90s!!
Love this man. Hope he lives another 98 years

Mel is not a national treasure - he is a global treasure.
Ben is no chopped liver either. Scion of one of the greatest Hollywood families and who's father was RFK's press secretary and almost a California Senator.
I love him ❤
Hope he lives forever.
Wouldn’t that be nice!! 👍🏻👍🏻
❤ still here ❤
Sharp as a tac still. ❤️💪💪
They should do a parody of a parody of space balls.
4:29 he was channeling my former master 🐈.
The guy is nearly a century old and he still alert and does not suffer from any ailment amazing.
They should do a sequel. Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money 🤣😂
Another treasure we need to protect at all costs, along with Dick Van Dyke.
I love that Mel is vibrant as ever at his amazing age.
Those of us that grew up watching his movies aren't easily offended! 💯
4:28 He’s still got it!
