As a Missourian and Chiefs fan, 10 years ago we felt lucky just to have a winning season. I thought Alex Smith was finally taking our team somewhere. But ended up short. Mahomes came in. So many people thought he wasn't the answer we needed. He turned this team around so fast, his first year Patriots ruined our chances but you couldn't be more proud in a QB than Mahomes. That Super Bowl win in 2020 was the most emotional time as a KC sports fan. I'm just enjoying every bit of this Mahomes team while it lasts. He's already HOF worthy

As a Broncos fan, now I understand what the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets felt like for two decades with Brady in their division. If the Broncos ever beat the Chiefs when Mahomes doesn’t have the flu, I will feel as if we won a superbowl because that’s how damn good you all are.
Also, I don’t care if Kelce plays as a modern tight-end which receives the ball more. If ANYBODY beats a record held by Jerry Rice they are instantly an all time great.

The chiefs scoring on their first and second drives, meant Ravens play catch up. All the rest is noise, but Ravens play different when they are behind, a certain desperation and chance taking throws, Throws they normally wouldn't try to force them into play......it was a game plan from the chiefs that had to start with chiefs scoring first and staying ahead, and then, just game manage after that until the end. I am still in awe of Spag's planning and coaching during this game. Watching the D-Line creating literal picket lines around Lamar, caging him in, daring him to throw the ball, not even rushing, just standing there with their hands at chest level and looking him in the eye, was just masterful football intelligence (still sacked him four times). Ravens destroyed every other worthy opponent on their quest to the Bowl and were defeated by the Final Boss.

Bro, looking back at it a day later, im still just an awe of how truly elite Spags is at what he does. Dude literally took this defense to another level tbis year and it’s only gunna keep getting better.
Like everybody said, if you were gunna get the chiefs, tbis was the year to do it. When they’re the most vulnerable. If you couldn’t do It this year, you might as well just pack it in. Rich, your analysis of this game is the best I’ve heard so far. I analogize the way the Chiefs handle a second half lead to the way a hockey team goes into a defensive shell to protect a lead. They didn’t have to put up any points in the second half, Patrick said they got the lead, and the defense kept it. The defense really took the pressure off Mahomes, all he had to do was, take care of the ball, and let the defense work, they both get paid, sometimes, “the defense” wins games, and those were the adjustments made at halftime, stop them from scoring, take it down by down, protect the ball, and manage the game, to you it looks like Baltimores defense stopped Mahomes, (when they couldn’t do it just 30 minutes ago) and gives them something to hang their hat on, but this was the adjustment at half time, what else did they need to do, but protect the lead, you do that, you win, it was about the Defense, and Patrick Mahomes just happens to be the Star on the team, and their focus. It was a masterclass in mind manipulation.

Can’t be “GOAT” when the rules have changed. If the game remained as violent as it was before I don’t think any of these players you’ve mentioned will have a long career. They protect quarterbacks and receivers in today’s game that was not there during Rice and Montana era.
They’re playing football yes, but the goal posts how greatness is measured changed.

I think its fair to appreciate the amazing season Travis Kelce is having, on and off the field. The podcast keeps getting bigger. His girlfriend is arguably the biggest entertainer in the world. Sponsorships like he's never seen before. Breaking records nearly every week. Getting to another Superbowl. Just a heck of a year for him.

Patrick Mahomes is pretty much an inevitable type of QB, a generational talent. They’ve taken the most difficult road to the Super Bowl through the best teams in the AFC through the best opponents. I really believe they’ll be fully ready to play ball 🏈 against the 49ers. I also think he’s at a much 💨 faster pace than Brady, four Super Bowl appearances at the age of 28, 14 playoff wins it’s greatness at a high level.

Andy Reid is known for offense, but I recall that his teams in philly had some decent defenses under his tenure. This Chief's defense is like Khabib in MMA, just working you, choking you, tiring you, frustrating you into giving up. That's what this is really about. Mahomes is basically a game manager who needs to play at an elite level just to appear as a game manager given his lack of skill position support.

I am a Chiefs fan but I do not want to get cocky. But our defense forced Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson into awful red zone throws that ended their seasons. Not sure Brock Purdy can fare better.

How many can the 9ers score is the real question. Judging by the playoffs, it won't be much. The Chiefs defense is stingy.

Travis understands that if you catch balls for a living, you need to catch the ball. That concept has escaped the bulk of KC's WR core. (Rashee Rice excluded)

Betting against purdy is crazy the man is on his first full season and it's funny how when he wins it won't even be about him it will be everyone saying his defence did the work while he scores 30 points again and also mahomes is gonna have to score 30 points to beat the 49era and their offence is being saved by amazing defence right now it has nothing to do with mahomes ATM it's his defence winning games

The whole "catching Brady" talking point is dead. Mahomes is the GOAT. You can see it with your eyes, or with the stats. Mahomes could retire after this Super Bowl, and not need to play 20+ years to compile stats to "Catch Brady". It's a ridiculous conversation at this point.
