I'm 45 minutes in and this is my favorite video by far. The run from 25 to 45 minute run was one of the most straightforward well toned message I've heard in a minute.
I have Sickle Cell as well, thank you so much for taking the time to shed light on this disease. Our pain is real, we are discriminated against already as black ppl but in the healthcare system it is even worse. Corporate America has never been kind to disabled people trying to work. I promise she is not lying about anything bc i speak from experience.
I'm a hcp and witness this discrimination firsthand so I'd like anyone reading this to pls advocate for sickle cell patients, and ESPECIALLY during a potentially lethal & extremely painful sickle cell crisis. Really hurts me to know so much incessant medical negligence goes on thanks to rac*am and biases. Praying for y'all and doing my part in my medical career to always advocate & provide prompt treatment regardless of abuse concerns. If sickle cell dz impacted white ppl as opposed to black ppl, I think the treatment biases wouldn't even exist if it didn't impact us minorities disproportionately. All sorts of genetic diseases yet "faking" pain & med abuse is priority now bc only impacts black ppl?? Sad. ❤Don't get me started lol
@ Thank you so much for your advocacy❤️❤️ that last sentence spoke volumessss. I believe one day everyone will come to learn the truth about sickle cell
of all the content i ever stumbled across on tiktok im so glad i found this platform. this is the type of discourse we need in our culture. Great podcast very authentic. I cant wait to watch how far yall take this shit.
This content is what we need. I have been telling my friends to make their own slice of heaven, cuz we can’t change the fact that we still don’t trust each other
44:06 You said something that completely changed my perspective. “we gotta redefine what we mean when we say community, and it cant just be niggas that agree with you” so many gems in this pod man. i will be making all my younger brothers watch this pod. some of the most powerful words i’ve heard in my life.
36:30 ; This is a wild realization. Being black and white , I always felt some type a way being with my white grandparents vs my black grandparents. The love and safety I felt with my black grandparents vs the ostracization I felt from my white grandparents will forever define my life. It was the little things compounding all together like falling asleep on the couch watching tv as my black grandfather would carry me to bed with such ease as to not wake me. Or visiting my white grandparents and literally feeling lonely and trapped with nothing to do besides eat and watch old westerns in silence. Or how my black grandfather would storytell to prove a point, a lesson, or just to reminiscence. Navigating both these spaces growing up took a toll on my mental frfr.
@@GritsAndEggsPodcastMany other things have shaped my perspective more than my time as a child with my grandparents. But very much to the fact "Too black for the white kids, too white for the black kids" is all too true growing up in the South. Looking back now, it shaped my foundation by mixing two different materials. It taught me to love unapologetically and every emotion/action has a layer underneath. No doubt both sets of my grandparents loved me but knowing Love and BEING that Love are two different things. Ostracization by both black and white communities at one point in time or another is a painful reminder that the color of my skin is perceived as a threat in our society. Many will remark why are you acting so white or why you trying to be a thug? But to me its just who I am. Racism is so ingrained in our country that any slight difference in our skin tone taught them to show disdain for it.
I have watched every episode of your podcast. Keep up the good work, keep fighting the good fight. I've laughed, and more importantly I've had to think deeply about the topics you've discussed. "Words are the means to meaning, and with it the enunciation of truth."- Alan Moore

Just found this podcast through TikTok a week ago and I been listening to all the episodes you got bro. Y’all are real funny and help a dude get through the day. Keep up the great work dude, killing it bro. 🔥
From the 35 minute mark, building community reminds me of the conversations between Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin (RIP to both). But she gagged him when she basically said the same thing, you’ll smile for the yt man but come home and bring me hell. Very accurate assessment
Really love this episode. Seeing the evolution of the podcast this year has really inspired me to lock back in with mine start of next year. Deffo gone have to finally hop on Patreon & support that too. Good Black Media >>> In regard to our social contract with one another as Black people globally I do believe that coming together & understanding that we are the global majority has always been a part of why that is deeply important. People want power helping em realize they already have it through existing is important. The differences we have are strengths. So many perspectives, cultures, traditions, foods, languages all of the above. It’s up to us to humanize & value one another in a real way. What we have to do is leave the mufuxkaz alone that aren’t on that type of timing. They’re not worth the effort in that regard.
Keep up the great work guys! Loving the gradual improvements too and incorporation of other guests & brands. Looking fwd to watching the pod continue to thrive in 2025!! S/O to Big Ice Cup🧊 & Deante for blessing us with an authentic voice of the ppl and smth to look fwd to consistently. Mad love!! ❤️🙏🏼
I don’t know how you do it, but you Truly hit the nail on the head every time. There’s so many things you say that I say to people I know and love, and have been saying for years. I’m so grateful you use your voice the way you do. You were given favor to use your voice. Shoutout to you.
Ouuu on your point about ideology. I feel you but I think ideology also influences how blackness plays out in the world. Like I don’t think I can build anything sustainable with a Hebrew Israelite or a black Christian. Cause the belief in afterlife tends to make you complacent in life right now and putting in the work(generally!). Too many clashing points. Unless we have a universal understanding of blackness/Africaness. Cause I’m not sure we’re at a place where we can look past ideology. Thanks for this convo fr
Love this episode and very interested in the idea of a new social contract for the Black Community. It’s like destabilizing how we are affected by the system rather than just trying to tear things down without an idea of what comes next. Makes me think about sociological principles prefiguration. Grits N eggs pod is the realest 💎
Sonnnnnnn!! I had the same moment about the “evils of Lucy “. I always thought it was about Lucifer and just the evils of Hollywood . But after the Kanye interview with Justin talking about Lucien . I was like ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh the math is mathin! 🤯🤯
I grew up in Fort Worth, TX (Stop 6 area) and it literally was love and we use to greet each other and help each other no matter what's going on. In that small area we all knew each other and looked out for one another. I don't remember seeing a white person unless we went outside of the Stop 6 area of Fort Worth or at the schools.
Maaaaaannnnnnnnn!!!!!!! You was doing some tall preaching! I truly want you to know, you the only man I’ll allow with a podcast mic! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for educating our people! Much love 🤎🤎🤎🤎
The isolationist talk had me feeling iffy about continuing to listen to the pod, but yall continue to impress by providing nuanced and mature discussion during the advice column. Gonna be here next week and recommended yall to others.
Love the music advice. She's warming up but it aint ready yet. S/n GnE is giving new age Teen Summit, although the audience ranges. We need this more than balloon popping. ❤ from the Lou!

Thank you for talking about LL 😭😭 I’ve been obsessed since my grandma claimed he was my grandad and I believed it until I met my real grandad 😂
