Seeing Mr.Dressup getting mad is a rare occasion. I remember seeing this clip in a documentary CBC aired years ago at age 11 and remember seeing Mr. Dressup hit the table & say "eat your soup!" and it blew me away that he would even say that.
One of my biggest memories of Mr. Dressup was when he left his glasses lying around and Casey decided to try them on. It didn't work and they broke. Casey was sad and devastated about how Mr. Dressup would react when he found out. Mr. Dressup in the meantime was trying goofy glasses on for size because he couldn't find his real glasses. When Casey eventually confessed, Mr. Dressup said he wasn't mad at him, and was proud that Casey confessed to what happened. Different secenario, and aired long after this clip; but it taught kids a good lesson about admitting their mistakes.
I thought Mr. dressup was gonna say, because I'm your father, that's why. lol I knew he wouldn't do that, but the thought when Casey asked why just came to me.
I'd seen this program in TV listings for decades, but NEVER saw a clip of it until now. Thank you for posting it! Oh, and Casey - your name isn't shown as the star of the show. So (ahem) can it. 🙂
I don't get what's wrong with Casey's arms. You could argue he had some kind of birth defect or something, in which case I'd sympathize with him, but in one of the opening cartoons his arms were normal. So all I can say to Casey is EAT YOUR DAMN SOUP SO YOUR ARMS CAN FUC*KING GROW.
The next scene, Mr. Dressup slams his fists on the table and tells Casey to eat his damn soup! Then Casey screams, you're not my father, and then Mr. Dressup replies with a backhand. 😂
Hahahahahaah Casey be always stirring all that s***. I would gladly eat all that Chicken Noodle Soup (regardless of how much trouble Mr Dressup had to go through to get it).
my brother told me Casey was a thalidomide baby. That's why Casey had short arms and no limbs. I didn't know what that meant until the 70's. Older brothers can be bastards. lol.
Just think what would have happened if Mr. Dressup had to go and get his soup from that infamous soup vendor instead of Susan . Then after getting berated and stuff and finally getting his soup for Casey and He/She not wanting it !! Yikes !
There's another episode uploaded to RUclips recently where Mr Dressup has a short temper. Casey asks Mr Dressup for a snack and Mr Dressup tells Casey he's to busy. He then tells Casey, that he obviously wasn't to hungry if he can't get to snack himself. He then goes outside to build a bird feeder and Casey asks for him, Ernie looks right at camera with an angry look and replies with an angry yah! And says Casey you can see I'm not finished!. I know that was the 1980s, but Ernie shouldn't have taped that day if he was in such a bad mood. You don't talk to a little 4 year old puppet like that (supposed to be a child). And you wouldn't talk to a real 4 year old like that. I'm surprised Judith (the puppeteer) put up with that, she was known not to put up with any nonsense. For anyone wondering, the episode is called more birds.
Casey was a ungrateful brat. Mr. Dressup went to the trouble to ask his neighbor about a can of chicken noodle soup that he wanted and he didn't want it after all. Then Casey had the nerve to question Mr. Dressup. Talk about disrespecting your elders.🤔
Wow! I don't ever recall Casey being such a brat. That's actually kind of distressing.🤥 At least this one is from before I was born, so I never had to see it when I was a kid.
What wasn't shown is that Casey probably was taken behind the wood pile and given a good ass whooping from Dressup's belt after this lol! You can tell Ernie was raised old school.
didnt dressup have to trade his last Mickey of scotch with Susan and now Casey wont eat his damn soup? Now Dressup is gonna get gouged down af Alligator Al's trading post if he's gonna replenish his stock and put up with this case of unappreciative puppetry
Good old days of how parents SHOULD talk to kids! Tell what to do. Not like allot of parents today that want to “discuss” and “not upset the child” as to why the child doesn’t want the soup. Good for you Mr.Dressup! Send that Casey to the chopper. 🇨🇦
I think this is the first time I've ever seen Mr. Dress-Up lose his cool like that. This is some great footage here.
He also gave Casey heck for dirtying his shoes. Casey wanted to run away.
Casey almost met Mr. Dressup's twin, Mr. Slapup.
😂😂😂😂
Finish your damn soup, Casey! Mr. Dress-Up made the soup all special!
And from a can to !! All that mixing & stirring !! :-P
Finnish the soup you petulant freakish child with pits of darkness for eyes !
Casey's a fucking jerk.
Next scene Mr. Dressup demonstrates the many uses of a garbage disposal unit.
😂😂😂😂
Casey needed serious puppet counselling after this.
0:25 Mr Dressup used those wooden spoons to straighten out Casey real fast.

I need closure!
Having grown up with Mr.Dressup in the 80s, I always assumed the show began in the 80s. Never knew it started in the 60s. Wow.
Mr. Dressup is quite young here, he looks like Elvis Costello LOL
I thought Mr. dressup was gonna say, because I'm your father, that's why. lol I knew he wouldn't do that, but the thought when Casey asked why just came to me.
Ernie was like "Shit... I didnt even realize I was yelling at a puppet!!" :O .. lol

“That’s it…..back in the tree you go!”

I miss this show , I grew up with his show
Yeah, Just a little sad that there are no kid show like MR Dressup & The Friendly Giant on today.
Were you born in Canada? : )
Yup born in canada
Casey had quite the mouth in the 60s.
And quite the microphone feedback lol
I mean it was during Nam and the civil rights movement!
Casey was a very fluid wasn't he?
The day Casey met Mr Hand 😮
Hahahahahaah Casey be always stirring all that s***. I would gladly eat all that Chicken Noodle Soup (regardless of how much trouble Mr Dressup had to go through to get it).
my brother told me Casey was a thalidomide baby. That's why Casey had short arms and no limbs. I didn't know what that meant until the 70's. Older brothers can be bastards. lol.
lol. I always wondered what the fuck happened to his arms. Please thank your brother for me.
Also his arms are normal in at least one of the opening cartoons.
I don’t think there was this much drama when I watched him in the late 80s
oh, I remember a time when Casey had a tantrum. of course, it may have been a rerun. who knows? it may have even been this one.
I was watching in the 80s, and there was one where DressUp got upset with Casey for getting their shoes dirty.
It was getting quite P C in the 80s so you wouldn't have seen Mr Dressup loose his cool.
This scene traumatized me,
Just think what would have happened if Mr. Dressup had to go and get his soup from that infamous soup vendor instead of Susan . Then after getting berated and stuff and finally getting his soup for Casey and He/She not wanting it !! Yikes !
I think Finnigan got into Casey's head. They always had that secret language, you know.
🤣😂 yep!
Sam Berkowitz all over again! D-8
Casey DID have a point here...

I'd be upset too if I had to deal with pieces of shit like Casey everyday.
Mr. Dressup can never be upset when it comes to Casey and Finnegan. ☹
This was in the documentary which came out on October 10th
I like to imagine that Mr.Dressup and Casey are the origin story behind Ventriloquist and Scarface from Batman.
Mr.Dressup will now demonstrate one of the uses for his new Zippo lighter.
Casey should be glad he didn't end up with the Unfriendly Giant.
Casey was a ungrateful brat. Mr. Dressup went to the trouble to ask his neighbor about a can of chicken noodle soup that he wanted and he didn't want it after all. Then Casey had the nerve to question Mr. Dressup. Talk about disrespecting your elders.🤔
Compared to Caillou, Casey's an angel.
You can definitely tell Casey went on to be a Democrat. Big brat
In part 2, Mr. D. put's Casey's head in a pencil sharpener...
I read this comment 3 minutes ago and im still lmbo...Hahahaha
LOL… there were a few directions you could have gone with this, but well chosen; the pencil sharpener really is more Mr Dressup’s speed.
It looks like he's already done that to Casey's fucked up arms.
“Shit move, Casey”- Kid in The Hall, Scott Thompson lol
Wow! I don't ever recall Casey being such a brat. That's actually kind of distressing.🤥
At least this one is from before I was born, so I never had to see it when I was a kid.
I don't remember Mr. Dress up ever getting mad at anyone
This is actually super adorable!
What wasn't shown is that Casey probably was taken behind the wood pile and given a good ass whooping from Dressup's belt after this lol! You can tell Ernie was raised old school.
Casey better be glad he didn't get choked Homer Simpson style
Wow this is a side of Mr Dressup and Casey I’ve never seen before😆😆😆
The moral of the story (not shown) is to not get mad, raise your voice etc...
No the moral is eat your soup or else... 😉
didnt dressup have to trade his last Mickey of scotch with Susan and now Casey wont eat his damn soup? Now Dressup is gonna get gouged down af Alligator Al's trading post if he's gonna replenish his stock and put up with this case of unappreciative puppetry
😳 Mr. Dress-Up?!!???? 🥺
Wow 😱 I never never never saw mr dress up get mad at Casey
I have - when Casey got his shoes dirty.
Come on, Mr. Dressup. Tell us why you are getting mad.
Wow rare footage!
1967? And well into the 80's? Didn't know he was on the air that long
Went until 96.
@@magx01 Amazing
@@bboyStuntZBut still aired reruns long after Coombs' passing.
Much Longer while it was originally called "Butternut Square" and aired b&w in the early part of the 60s...
Dope!
Spank that puppet Mr D

Meanwhile Finnegan probably wants the soup instead. Mr. Dressup DID go to all that trouble to make it for lunch!
THATS getting mad??
lol
🐄 | ÔH LA VACHE! 0:10
Can chicken soup 4$ where I live now never buy 😮😢
I HATE Casey.
this man is abusing the child
That was the' 60's. Normal every day thing.
