The man taking care of him really has a good character
Whilst we were all applauding Wen getting his just desserts we have to also applaud the actor for his absolute fine acting in making his character believable. I really felt sorry for him in this scene.
100% agree. I hate Wen Chao’s character but he was so pitiful here, it was hard to watch. I personally feel that the actor for Wen Chao was the best of all the “villain” actors.

There is much to be said for the actors playing Wen Chao and Wen Zhuliu, moving from arrogance and heartlessness to fear and gentleness, respectively. Also, outstanding makeup effects!

The actor for Wen Zhuliu has a small part in Dance of the Phoenix. There are a couple of brief moments when you get to see how handsome this actor is. His character in Untamed has a full range of merciless and gentle. Gotta love that.

As a fan who read the novel and watched all the adaptations and even lisrened to the audio drama, I can understand why this is how you react about the people you say as "BL fans".
Firstly, the novel The Untamed is adapted from-Mo Dao Zu Shi by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu-is a danmei novel, or in easier terms, is a male/male romantic fiction novel written in Chinese. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are romantically involved in the novel and they were even married (though not explicitly stated).
Secondly, when the novel became a huge hit of course adaptations would arise. But, queer content isn't allowed in China (eff the Chinese govt for this) so even the authors who wrote these queer content use pseudonyms to hide their identities. Now back to the adaptations part. Due to Chinese censorship laws, showrunners had to make adjustments-tweak the gay™ moments or remove them completely-so that the show can get past censorship. If you are new to watching Chinese "bromance" dramas, and you haven't read the source materials these dramas were adapted from, then all you can really see is two guys who have a really really great friendship.
Now, why did I go through all this hassle in making something clear to you? When I could just have shut up and move on?
The third and main point of this comment is about the subtle subtexts that the showrunners have professionally done to make it look like it's still a show about two men who are romantically involved with each other. Us fans who read the source material was so shocked when we saw some certain scenes that we thought won't pass through censorship, and for this we can only applaud the creators and the actors.
What are those scenes, if you would ask? I'll just list some for you and press Google and see it for yourself if you can still see Lan Zhan and Wei Ying being only just "bros".
1. Gusu Lan's forehead ribbon
2. The rabbits (clue for this: Tu'er Shen)
3. Wangji giving a pair of chickens to Wuxian
4. LWJ and WWX bowing to the Jiang ancestors for *three* times in the Jiang ancestral hall
5. "Lifelong confidantes" or 知己, or zhī jǐ
