The 90 Toyota pickup chrome rear step bumper is closest visually to the 84. It’s what i have on my ‘86. I had to cut about 2” out of each original bracket and reweld them. Looks and works great. Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah I just recently discovered the 84/85 have the stepped bumper. Which I dont like. Probably only because in my mind I had always envisioned the flat chrome one. I did find an original 85 but the guy wants 1200 dollars so I'm gonna keep looking. Id take either style.

Sweet, nicely spec'd 4Runner. Paint the dash in a more factory dark red colour rather instead of the retina-searing red, and finish getting the other factory red interior parts to suit. :)
They're relatively common Stateside. Red is the best trim colour, just not THAT red. Haha!

Um, actually red is the worst color. It's a scientific fact.

I love you and don’t even know you!!!! I love to see you into these Toyotas, that you have the want to keep them going. I have a small collection of my own. 1985 Toy pick up DLX we have had since new, 1986 4runner DLX, 1997 T100 since 1 yr old, 1998 Taco since new, 2000 Avalon, 2004 Avalon since new, 2011 Camry since new and 2021 Tacoma since new, lol. I like yours more. The Brown SR5 is a great find. I am looking for one like the White one if you ever want to get rid of it. Keep your progress going. I am currently doing rust cut out rebuilding new metal parts and welding on the 1985 PU truck. Then need to do the same on the 4 runner fenders front and rear. Keep it up and keep it going!!!! You are awesome!!!!

I definitely do want to get rid of the white one. I hate to say that because I really wanted the 22R but this particular truck has left such a bad taste in my mouth. I've never been able to enjoy it since I bought it. Once I get the big projects done I'm selling it. It is a beautiful car and the engine is tip top. I just don't feel happy about it.

@@natalied989 how long do you think you have before you want to get rid of it and do you have any idea what you want for it? Where are you located, I am in Virginia.

@robertmcclure184 The front end needs a lot of work. The diff oil seals are leaking so I'm going to tear down the whole front end. All the seals, bearings, service the birfields and new brakes and address the leaf springs. Not sure if I need new ones or just give some attention to the originals. I'm taking it to a shop for the suspension though. The rear needs some leveling. And there are some body electrical issues that need to be resolved. A lot of the interior stuff doesn't work. Radio, drivers window, rear window, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge and cigarette lighter.
I already converted the charging system to an internal regulated alternator and it works great. And it's the best running engine of any vehicle I have.
I paid $15k. I'll probably have easily $5k into it by the time I'm done and it will be perfect and come with a ton of extra OEM working parts. I have the original EGR stuff and Carb and an extra working dizzy, coil and ignitor and an extra full set of original chrome wheels and center caps and sleeves as well as an original chrome bumper that I've acquired since I bought it. Stuff for 84/85 is really hard to find.
I'll probably start at $17k just to get rid of it and see where it gets me. Probably could do BAT when I'm done and get that if the economy hasn't crashed by then. I think by next summer I'll be ready to sell it.

@@natalied989 sounds like you are going to be doing a lot of work on it in the next few months!!!! Good luck with doing that, I am still rebuilding a 1985 Toy P/U that we have had since new. I am finishing the body work and am getting it ready to paint it. Getting close… I am then going to do some body work on my T100 and paint it, then last but not least going to rebuild a 1986 4Runner. So I have a few projects of my own going on, lol. My wife and I are really looking forward to getting the 4Runner done. Hopefully by Next Spring, then we can take it to the beach!!!! Good luck and keep the Vids coming when you can. It is great to see the progress!!! I worked for Toyota for about 15 years in service, love their vehicles, especially these older ones, not a better vehicle on the road in my book. Best of luck, keep in touch and keep those old trucks alive, they are getting hard to find!!

Bravo! I have mixed feelings about the red interior: it's my favorite color, but yipes~ Keep them coming!

My feelings are thoroughly homogenous. I would like to make a citizen's arrest on the person who did this.
