In this video, we have left the Mull of Galloway and have arrived in Ayrshire.
We show you two official overnight park us for motorhomes and campervans. These are ran by Ayrshire Council and both are on the Ayrshire Coast. One is in Ballantrae with its beautiful coastline, the other is in Girvan.
It is in Girvan that we see something we're not too happy about and decide to try and do something about it!
We have been living in our Elddis Encore 255 motorhome "Raymond" since April 2021, when we went fulltime with our rescue husky Nanook, AKA Nookie Monster.
Unfortunately Nanook passed away on Thursday 8th June 2023 after a short battle with cancer and we have been heartbroken by his loss, but he will always be a part of this channel.
In March 2023, Helen bought a 1993 Talbot Express Autosleeper Symphony, as she can't drive Raymond due to driving restrictions.
She now travels solo in "The Nook" when Karl travels solo on his Honda Fireblade motorbike.
We have always wanted to show the magic of nature and the beauty of places, regardless of the time of year.
We do show the ups & downs of vanlife too and we also show motorhome related content.

Good on you guys reporting the pollution. Lovely area. We did not know about that park up.
The Ballantrae one? It's a cracking spot, we've filmed there before lol. Easy walk to Kennedys Mausoleum and the old bridge and pretty peaceful too. You hardly see any vans there and I think it's free out of season. The diesel spillage was awful. It stank and you could see the trail going to Ailsa Craig. Hope they got done for it, but we don't know what happened about it unfortunately.
Lovely quiet place!!! Never be forgotten to your nookie!!! Beautiful view to lay ashes. 🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺
Thanks Kimberley. Yes, a beautiful view and Nookie loved that park area. He's still missed so much. He was a beautiful boy.🐾
The fresh and natural colours are beautiful but we don’t like the horrible diesel colours and well done for reporting it.
Thanks Mark. It was bad but we had to stop filming as there were two men watching us. We didn't want any confrontation. Glad we reported it though.
Lovely video well done I'm glad you reported it such a fantastic spot take care my lovelys 👍😁
Thanks Charlie.😊
I'm glad you found that bench to do Nookie's ashes. How lovely!🥰 🐾🐾
Yes, it was a great find that we know we will be able to find again. I still miss him so much.💜
@@roaminginraymond ❤️💔😪😪
We love both Ballantrae and Girvan. As it's only 40 minutes away from us we go there quite often. I've never seen any diesel spillage before, though. Thanks for reporting it x
Don't blame you for going, they are both lovely places and Nanook loved his walk through Ainslie Park. We like to go to the Varyag Memorial too to see the seals. You are more than welcome, we had to do something. Mother Nature needs as much help as she can get.😊
Two lovely locations with beautiful views , nice to see some councils are coming around to overnight park ups. Really nice to follow your videos on the Nookie trail , very appropriate bench for the beautiful Nookie. Take care Byyyyeeee🚐👍
They are lovely coastal park ups Eric and Ayrshire council are doing a great job for overnight stays. Yes, a very apt bench for our beautiful Nookie Monster. Hope you're well Eric. Are you the big 80 in March or am I adding a year!
@@roaminginraymond I am well thank you ( as long as I keep taking the tablets ) 😂🤣 . Yes 79 in March , you scared me then I thought I’d missed a year. You to take care and keep well Byyyyeeee 👍🚐
Great stopover & a lovely bench for Nooks 💕 🕊️ Good info on the pollution line, I wouldn’t have had a clue that existed. Hope no birdied got covered in that stuff. Em 💜
Thanks Em. Yeah, a lovely spot to sit and think of Nook. He's still missed so much and I still cry nearly every night.
@@roaminginraymond💕 when we love hard, we grieve hard xxx
@vansforthememories it's true Em.❤️❤️
Lovely locations and video … well done on the pollution reporting
Thanks very much and thanks very much lol.😊
Great video again, brings back memories, back in the 1960s mum an dad would drive up to Girvan for the day from New England Bay, there used to be a boating lake on the sea front, where you hired a motor boat as kids we loved it, 20 years later in 1984 married staying at N,E,B I repeated it taking our son, the boating lake was still there, don't remember seeing it the 90s though, or when we passed through in 21.
We've never seen a boating lake there so it's probably gone. Shame really as little things like that are what make places special. Always beautiful views there though, especially of Ailsa Craig. Glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back happy memories.😊
Typical for Girvan Harbour. A common occurrence. The commercial vessels don't give a f55k.
No, I'm sure they don't. Too busy trying to make a living I suppose, but if the sea is how they make it, then they should care about it more.
Any follow up from the population folks??? Good on you both!!!
Beautiful area, last year stopped in the exact same space you parked in Ballantrae, great spot then went to Girvan to empty the cassette 😂 . Happy travels 👋
Ha ha ha, don't blame you! We really Like Ballantrae and it's much quieter than Girvan, and more scenic. Great they turned it into an official overnighter.
The scene opposite those homes is lovely! I remember seeing it in a previous video and thinking it'd be a great spot for a house. It's surprising how nice it looks despite the houses there. By the way, what was that rundown building at the second stop? Was it an old park clubhouse or something? That bench seemed like a must-visit spot for the Nook, just waiting for you. Maybe that's why you ended up not stopping at the first place you considered. The stroll down the promenade looked nice. I bet the boats had grimy, neglected engine rooms and leaking propeller shaft gaskets - could those be the reason behind the diesel seepage into the water. A common issue with old boats and owners who neglect maintenance.
Not sure what the building was, but it looked around the early 20th century style I'd say, probably like your house I reckon. Be a great building to do up though. Yeah, the perfect bench for the Nookie Monst. He always enjoyed running around there as he loved being on grass to run around or relax on.
@@roaminginraymond Victorian buildings often carry such character and potential. Think we will stick with this one now though :-) Yes, that green area looked a perfect spot indeed for both human and furry friends alike to unwind and then soak up the atmosphere when all were worn out. Thinking of you Nook.
@VintageRVAdventures 🥰🐾
Another lovely place to revisit. The lovely Nookie monster found some awesome places to take you to didn’t he? ❤🐶. What a place to scatter his ashes. Stunning walks in the area. Terrible to see that pollution. Pleased you reported it.
He definitely did take us to some amazing places and had fun doing it too.😁🐾 We had to report that pollution, it was just awful and it really did literally stink. Just hope no wildlife got it on it.
@@roaminginraymond I know. It’s enough of a struggle for the poor birds with bird flu without that as well
@@Wizardinthewild definitely!😢
Well done guys, that diesel will drift and disburse for miles, we used to get it where we lived in Kent, mostly when the ferries were running from Folkestone, which was 12 miles away, stay safe 👍👊🏴🚌
12 miles, that's awful. You could see it going out to Ailsa Craig which isn't good with all the wildlife on there, but we didn't film anymore cos of the fishermen about. We didn't want to draw attention to ourselves.
@@roaminginraymond don’t blame you , they don’t take kindly to criticism, it’s horrible what diesel does to wildlife. Take care you three 👍👊🥰🏴🚌
@wanderingbychoice and you three too. Hopefully the rains not too bad where you are. It's awful here.😢
@@roaminginraymond just started chucking it down Helen, but we done all we wanted so just chilling 👍👊
@wanderingbychoice that's good then. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.😊
Hi great content Ailsa Craig used to get the nickname Paddy's milestone.
Thanks very much. Never knew that it had a nickname so thanks for the knowledge. It's a very beautiful landmark. Would love to do a boat trip there some time.
Never made it down to Girvan when we visited. Should have spoke to those fisherman. One of the the boats may have a leak that they are not aware of. Good job you reported it though.
Girvan is OK for a night and to have a wander. We prefer Ballantrae though but Nook liked his walk in Girvan. They'd have definitely been aware, it absolutely stank and it was at least a foot and a half in width going out into the sea. I remember you going to that castle by Ayr as we visited there a couple of years back. Can't remember what it was called now.
@roaminginraymond yeah that's right that's where shell fell on her arse lol 😆
@RaymondoLeeTravel ha ha ha, I remember her having a big dirty mark on her butt on one of the videos years ago cos I commented on it 😆 Going to have to find that castle now as would like to do Nook there too.
@@roaminginraymond it’s called Greenan castle 😊
@@RaymondoLeeTravel aw, thanks for that, it's been cabbaging my brain trying to remember. Going to stick it in my w3w now.😊
Glad you reported that diesel spillage, unbelievable it was coming from boats that actually fish from there. Should be ashamed of themselves.
It was really bad Mary and the footage doesn't show how bad it actually was. You could see the stream of it just flowing to Ailsa Craig with all its lovely wildlife. Disgraceful.
@@roaminginraymond I hope they found the culprit and they were dealt with.
@maryfennell9672 definitely hope so. xx
I got mixed up with Largs!!!!!
Eugh! That's disgusting, that oil!
You don't want to get BATTERED!!!!!
Did the authority people get back to you? Hope they did!
Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Xxx
Ha ha ha, no we definitely didn't want to get battered😆 We never heard anything unfortunately. Hope something got done though.
Glad you reported it. Let’s hope they do something about it. Nature First. Take care. All the best. 👍🚐🐾🕯️
Thanks Rob and yes, definitely nature first.💜🏴
