      I DID - i lived through the Thatcher government - I left the UK on a long holiday in 2009 and when the Tories won in 2010 I never came back, I was not living through ANOTHER 15 years of horrific tory hell.

      Wouldn't it be nice if the minimum wage set by any government was also the minimum wage those in government had to live by.
      Wouldn't it be nice if upon becoming a politician at what ever level, you forfeit any land assets and properties you own. And are forced to live in the "affordable housing" you promised thousands of people.
      Wouldn't it be nice if you were unable to benefit from any shares you previously owned. And therfore saw no benefit in allowing business to push profits over people.
      Wouldn't it be nice to have a group of leaders with no alternative motives who shared the burden of the policies they enact .

      Jesus wept! If the BoE hadn't immediately stepped-in, numerous pension funds would have gone belly up, leaving millions with nothing left but the state pension...possibly including you. And that's before the interest rate rise which is likely going to collapse the housing market, leaving further millions with negative equity or unable to get a mortgage at all.

    Interesting Liz Truss story:
    One of my family is a civil servant. One of her colleagues was working with/for Liz Truss in the last couple of years. This colleague is going to pick up lunch and asks Liz Truss, do you want anything?
    Truss says yes so the colleague comes back with a sandwich/meal thing. The cost was £6.99, say £7 the colleague says to Truss.
    Truss precedes to something like "£6,99? Oh I actually have the exact £6.99 for you." And proceeds to dole out the exact change including coppers and not a penny more to the apparently, quite suprised colleague.
    There you have it... Our Prime Minister, so generous as not to give a penny more to someone who goes out of their way to do them a favour.
    How many of us would say, ah, I'll give you the £7 to save you rolling around with my change and for your effort.

    I noticed that democracy in the Western world has a tendency to elect people that are good at talking and socialising, but people that do not sufficiently understanding how to run a country. Liz Truss is a typical example. Within a couple of weeks of appointment, she managed to generate such a chaotic situation in the country. The entire nation suffers. As soon as I saw the summaries of their economic plans, I could immediately see that Rishi had a much better plan, and that Liz's plans were not very sensible. I was hoping for a Rishi win, as he at least seemed to know how to run the economy.
      Personally, I suspect that Liz used her tax cuts for the highest earners promise to buy her the votes that she needed to win the Tory leadership race. Essentially trading our economic wellbeing, in order to get herself into power.

    Is this what Karl Marx was referring to when he foresaw the crumbling of capitalism for falling more and more into capitalist greed? In a certain way it also reminds me of the end of soviet times when it also became clear that there wasn't much margin to save and transform from socialist heritage. It definitely feels like an end game.

    Cutting taxes will decrease govts revenue and raising interest rates will cause recession. So the govts measures are totally illogical and it's similar to Sri Lankan govts policies which brought them the present severe economic crisis. If the British govt does not reverse their policies, then Britain too could become another Sri Lanka with very Lil hope of recovery and in worse case scenario plunge to a point of no return. Beware 😏😒😒
