Story time: So in 7th grade, our class had this big parent night thing, where we did a bunch of performances on things that we liked. Me and my group of 4 other friends found sheet music and played gourmet race at the parent night. And they somehow loved it. This song is very special to me and my friends simply because of that night. We even called ourselves the "gourmet chefs". We had shirts and hats and everything. What a triumph is that. Thank you qumu, this means a lot.

Literally last night while listening to the full playlist on shuffle (it’s epic background music), I decided to look into the comments and the second one (I believe) said that you were required by Kirby Law to remix Gourmet Race. And now one day later, here it is! Also, I love your energetic pieces and this one has to be one of my favorites!
Wow, I remember someone saying they wanted a remix of Gourmet Race a while back, and another person replied that Qumu made one already, which wasn’t true back then. Well, he/she predicted this remix! (Also Simpleflips is probably going to get this remix in his stream music playlist)
So, I was on Spotify with my dad and came across this song. I wondered if it was on RUclips so I checked and there it was, in all its glory! This is saved on my private remix playlist BC it's so good, and there are a VERY select few songs in that playlist
I really like the stylistic choices made in this composition. Some of the most iconic aspects of the original include the chip-tune nature of the triplet patterns in the melody, as well as a driving sense of tempo. In this arrangement you actually sped up those bass-driven lines in tempo, and without the use of a crescendo you achieved the same effect. You didn't change that section at all between iterations, and that actually helped the track have a baseline (heh, pun intended if you want) that kept it relatable. That's really neat to me! I also really enjoy the use of a trumpet sample that has some slight flare-outs in the 'punchy' notes. While it's obviously not a live recording, it gives the sense that it was actually recorded as a live instrument for this track. I'd say there's more body to that kind of tone and it achieves the original track's feeling without just being the same thing. Many remixes of this song lose themselves trying to do the whole song one way, forgetting to hammer home the original lines that made it work so well in the first place. I had the sensation listening to this track that I was hearing the voices of several different racers, even the parts where they trip and stumble. I can't say most remixes of this track out there give me that sensation of imagination. There were moments where you actively changed the original tune, both in notes and in key. These work because you were true to the original in setting that up, and it makes the contrasting experience really rewarding as a listener. I can clearly see where you are being Qumu in tone, and Qumu in interpretation. As an artist remixing classic tunes, this puts you a full step above the rest in my eyes. This was a really intelligent remix, and thank you for making it!

I am really surprised by how it sounds. It still has this rushy feel while feeling lighter with the choir until it brutally gets heavy with the "brass". It just gives a whole new dimension to the song while still respecting the feeling of the original song (tldr an excessively good remix) I will never say it enough: Thank you for your amazing remixes and all that stuff Also doot doot made me happy ;u;

After listening to this remix again, I’ve realised just how incredible it is! You’ve changed some of the notes/underlying chords (resolving to major) and the “Fast Arpeggiated bit” (Idk what to call it), and it really helps give the song your own flair and style. Amazing work, Qumu!

After listening to this remix again, I’ve realised just how incredible it is! You’ve changed some of the notes/underlying chords (resolving to major) and the “Fast Arpeggiated bit” (Idk what to call it), and it really helps give the song your own flair and style. Amazing work, Qumu!
