I’m a big brush washer. Soap and water style. Plus I use a lot of solvents at times. But also I like to keep my brushes sharp for as long as possible before moving them to the frayed coffee can. The thing I’ve found that works the best is after washing them I rub food grade coconut oil into the bristles, and then with the flat brushes I line them up, all coconut oiled up, flat on paper towels and I lay another paper towel over them, and then I place a book on the bristles, just before the connect to the handle. Sometimes a few books. Like pressing flowers. They come out perfect and they last for a long time too

I like the idea of having the bristols down in oil, and I think I will make a holder that allows me to "snap" a brush in, and hang it suspended in the oil tip down so as not to touch the bottom at all. Then I can put any type of brush in there.

I am just starting oil painting. Do these methods also apply to M Graham's Walnut Alkaloid oil? How do you dispose of the sediment that collects at the bottom of your cleaning jar? Do these methods also apply to paper towel? Thank you
