I've been very curious about this game and I appreciated your take on its strengths and weaknesses. I also have been one of those who has been a little worried about the longevity of the game. I have only gotten two, once and done, style games in the past. I may just have to solve this by getting it secondhand at some point.
One Stop Co-op Shop praises this one highly, but I think I'll pass on it. By the way, I checked out your Frostpunk review and I'm getting that one on Saturday. It's on Amazon for 83 bucks as a black friday deal, and I had to insta-buy it at that price (with the Frostlander expansion).
I enjoyed/enjoy This War of Mine, which I think you sold, and I heard that FP is sort of like that. I'm guessing you like FP more than TWoM? @@JohnLaRuffa
@realdealastrology9 kind of but yes, Frostpunk really resonates with me because of the mechanics and I just felt like I had more control of my fate. I never felt like I could get things under control in This War of Mine.
@@JohnLaRuffa I understand that. I read some strategies online for This War of Mine, and they greatly help. But I can see some people not being into it
Hi John. I'm looking to buy Unsettled or ISS Vanguard for solo play and would appreciate your opinion on which one is better? I ruled out Voidfall because of the of the weight and extensive set up and take down. I also don't like managing more than two hands. For context, my favorite games are Mage Knight, TMB Undertow, and Marvel / Arkham LCG's. Thanks again.
So they are completely different feels. You have to ask yourself what you are looking for. Each game of Unsettled is its own thing. Think of it as one large puzzle to be solved with each scenario and each planet being an isolated version of the puzzle. Not too much dice rolling or randomness besides the card draws. ISS Vanguard is huge and very long campaign where each session affects the future of the game. Lots of dice rolling to perform checks on success on this one. Both games have plenty of content and are very enjoyable but they are completely different. Based on your favorite games, I think you would be good with either but I think the choice comes down to if you want a campaign or no campaign.
glad to hear two-handing this isn't so bad! my copy should be shipping soon!
It’s not bad at all!

Not a bad plan.

That’s a great deal! I think you will really enjoy it. Even though I still have yet to win, I have enjoyed every play.

@realdealastrology9 I got my plays out of it before I sold it. Probably tried it 6-7 times over a couple of years.
