The world vicariously enjoys the benefits of salvation of the cross, living next to Christians or "Christian nations". The idea of us trying to determine who is and who isn't elected is not a fruitful line of thought, just trust that God will get who he wants and we sow seed wide and deep.

Paul had absolutely no problem calling out false teachers who led people astray. That being said, he wasn’t always correct like not accepting Mark at first (who would go on to record the Gospel of Mark) and strained a relationship with a friend because of it. It’s the dynamic between doing it in the right spirit, for the right reasons.

I love these conversations! I was excited to watch this. I was raised and still am from a Wesleyan/Holiness and Arminian tradition, and the way I was raised, we do believe we can lose salvation, but based on us walking away, based on free will. NOT anyone plucking us out of God’s hand. I still consider these my brothers. We believe in inerrancy and PRIMACY of Scripture, though we consider tradition and experience as well. From my understanding, we don’t differ on as much as people think. Mainly secondary issues. God bless guys! Keep teaching us. To GOD be the GLORY!

I think Ruslan has the right idea. God saves some dramatically, others experience a gradual conversion, still others say they have always believed. God never seems to work the same in everyone’s life. However, there’s still a responsibility for us to accept and believe. Some people reject God openly, and he may very well say “ok” , I will leave you alone “. Seems like those who experience a more dramatic salvation, are also more tasked with a ministry of some sort, like you guys, so that you can speak from experience on God’s mercy and grace towards a more specific audience.

My biggest gripe with Calvinism is that it assumes it’s definitions of certain words are accurate. For example, the term sovereignty has several acceptable definitions. Calvinist use the most strict definition of the term (God controlling everything in a deterministic manner) and just run with that. But God doesn’t have to control every single action etc. in order to be sovereign. An alternative definition of terms will allow you to interpret certain scriptures/passages in a different way.

    • @d3anims97
      @d3anims97 Год назад +6

I don't think they do, maybe the stereotypical parody calvinist the online community seems to love jabbing at and the loud extremes online but I had no idea God was sovereign from the way folk spoke about Him until Calvinist and it was always defined to me as having the final say so, He either causes or allows and all towards His own purpose and is the only one with that right or power. In that sense, He does "control" everything because even when we're doing our own thing, its still on a collision course with His greater plan and purpose, "you meant it for evil, God meant it for good" type of thing

My understanding or perspective has been that while Jesus did die for everyone. Being outside of time and knowing the future, He also knows who will accept His free gift of salvation or reject it.
The "gift of salvation" is for everyone, but not everyone accepts it. That's free will. "Pre-determined or pre-destination" seems to say that because He knows already who will and will not accept Him, that He doesn't offer the gift to them at all.
Which makes me wonder about how later on, when we are judged by God in the end times, it could be said that it won't be fair for them to not even have had a chance to make a free will choice at all.
Image a court session in which only the judge has proof, based off something only they know would or wouldn't have happened sometime in the future, it would raise a "What if you did offer it to me? Would I have taken it? But I didn't even have the chance".
It reminds me of "Minority report". In the movie, future crimes are stopped before they happen, meaning they don't have a chance to make a choice in free will, yet they are judged based off an event that didn't even occur and I have to just take their word for it.
God made Adam and Eve and gave them a choice, even though He knew they'd fail.

I follow Allen Parr and I think his podcast is amazing. But I do believe we as Christians overly complicate Salvation ,to the point that, not only do we confuse the world, but also, to a large degree, ourselves. Based on the TULIP interpretation of or acronym of the basics of Calvinism ( and thank you for the easy to understand breakdown) the U and the L, however, sounds like another false doctrine…made to sound deep and theologically sound by using big words and misinterpretations of scripture. Almost Everyone knows John 3:16. It’s the most basic straight forward script about Salvation that even a baby Christian can witness with and it trumps both of those beliefs. But I also like 2 Peter 3:9 which States The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance. there’s no picking and choosing there. He’s not slack concerning his promise (some versions say slow) AS MEN count slackness. Meaning, he views salvation very differently than how Christians ( even University trained ones) view it. Why? Because he invented it. If he chooses anyone , it’s only those that he believes will impact more people,(who may not have otherwise heard of Jesus or salvation) to come to know Jesus. Which is the reason he brought together the disciples. but he’s not just choosing people likes he’s a bouncer to an exclusive club on Saturday night.😂 If that were the case, then Judas would be sitting in heaven right now. He knew what Judas was going to do, yet he CHOSE him anyway Why? Because even his betrayal set forth the greatest thing in our human history, our salvation through Jesus’ death on the cross. So even Judas had a positive impact on helping to bring people to Christ. Even though Judas didn’t intend that to be the case, God still used it. Judas , in a sense, deconstructed his faith, even tho he was literally chosen by God himself in the flesh. I find that fascinating and also quite tragic. Bottom line, Calvinism is just a banging stew that has chunks of hair in it. Throw it away. Why can’t we as Christians keep salvation simple, the way God intended. Salvation isn’t easy…but it is indeed….very simple. And this is no slight what so ever against the interview, I thought you both represent Christ well on your respective channels. I’m just another Christian talking to my brothers about what I believe we as Christ followers can do better. Love y’all both. 🙏🏽

The way that I reconciled Limited Atonement was that Christ's death was sufficient for the whole world but only effective for the elect. Which, I think, is pretty similar to Arminianist positions without the elect part (for obvious reasons). I.e, if everyone in the world were to come to saving faith in Jesus Christ then his death would be enough to cover them, but because God elects people to be saved then, by extension, they are the only ones to benefit from it.

It's ungrateful, which us the whole problem presented to people who don't believe in limited atonement. The whole problem is that the people it's for don't recieve it, not that God hasn't given enough for everyone. The Son may not have come to condemn the world, but the Word condemns the world by itself, because the world denies God and his grand gesture of love. Specifically, because they don't think it's genuine and because they think there is something better. Such is the fate of those who don't believe.

And all Christians need real relationships in their church to live out the "one another" Scriptures. Alan Parr and Ruslan are not going to walk with you in your marriage, parenting, sharing your faith, hospitality, etc. Your local pastor needs your love and friendship and counsel and help. Pastors get their hands dirty, laboring for their local flock. They hold the hands of those who are suffering or dying. I appreciate teachers so much (my husband and son teach), but they don't have to oversee a whole flock, nor do they want to.

Guys be careful with over complicating scripture. If Jesus says believe then believe and if we are commanded to believe that means that it’s open to absolutely everybody. How did God interact with believers before Jesus sent the Holy Spirit? Scripture never says God compelled their belief, it simply says they believed, example is Abraham, he believed and it was counted to him as righteousness. If it was God forcing him then why would He even test him by telling him to sacrifice his son. It was Abraham’s choice and belief to do as God asked. These people did not have the benefit of 66 books of the Bible..they were living and interacting in real-time. But as with all things there is this tendency to Monday morning quarterback things and overthink it and make it more complicated than it needs to be. This is how Pharisees went off course. Now it’s whole books written about how to interpret what was already written as if we need something more. Salvation is truly open to everybody and everybody has the capacity to believe…period. Otherwise it cannot be counted against them. Now does God intervene with some? Yes but even with that said everyone has a chance to believe.

“TULIP” is an idea created by a man. The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. How about we stick to what the Bible says vs creating what we want it to say.
The Bible is very clear that Jesus Christ died for the WHOLE world. The Bible also says many are called but few are chosen. It’s clear that God gives us the choice to pick him.
People can lose the Holy Spirit because it’s a choice to obey God. That’s why these exists…
    Hebrews 3:12
“Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.”
    1 Timothy 4:1
“But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,”
    Hebrew 6:4-6
“For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.”

Where do you draw the line on church history. Why 150 yrs? I say this because if you were alive 150 yrs after Luther , would you have discounted Martin Luther ? The reformation is not completely over.

The problem with smart 🤓 people they always try to figure out God but they can't because he has hidden it from big heads 😆, Matthew 11:25... faith is the chosen weapon of battle. All these isms.. create more schisms.. so they can kick rocks..
Jesus is enough.. it's about in Whom you believe .. not necessarily your knowledge or what you believe.. Let the Holy Spirit do his job 😅 John 16:13.

"Whosoever will, may come and drink of the water of life, freely": In Revelation 22, in the Bible.
"It is not the will of the Father that one of these little ones perish:" Jesus, in the Bible.
"God did, in eternity past, predestine everything that would come to pass, including who would be saved, and who would be damned": Augustine and Calvin, NOT the Bible.
    "Sola scriptura"?

    Like if you agree-
God is One God existing in 3 persons( Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The Son/Creator Jesus Christ came in the flesh, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again the 3rd day according to scripture. When His blood was shed on the cross, it paid for every sin I have committed, am committing, and will ever commit. Paid in full, forever. The moment a person places their trust/faith( of their own free will) in His finished work alone apart from any works of their own, they are saved, sealed, and secure at that very moment they change their mind from unbelief to belief( repentance= a change of mind twords God)..Born again, His child for eternity. Salvation can never be lost, and the main true evidence of salvation is the fruit of a person's lips( their words) i.e their profession of faith/ what they believe about Jesus and His finished work. Good works are good to do, absolutely, but that is discipleship/Christian growth and maturity in your walk as a Christian AFTER you are saved, and completely separate from salvation.

People are mocking your comment but basically that is the problem… The Calvinist ultimately will not focus on evangelism because they believe that is in Gods hands. Yes they will occasionally evangelize but the preaching of the gospel loses its urgency when it is up to God and not man’s role. So your comment is point on… An unbeliever would not get the gist of the conversation and would have to wait for the gospel to be preached while they work out their thoughts on Predestination and Sovereignty of God. The Unbeliever does not care about Calvinism but whether the scriptures are true

@Jern Delpeche if you look up the strongs concordance 'Destruction' is the correct insert. So I stand by what I said. What does scripture say will happen to those "evil" people? They will be destroyed will they not? So the wicked by default if are made for the day of evil as you want to go with would be destroyed right?

They are even critical of one another. Luke 9:49-50 49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. 50 And Jesus said unto him,Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
