I just came across this whilst doing my research on Bikejoring. What a great video and great replies from you in the comments section. Thank you so much and I wish you all, all the best xxx
Wow! This looks like so much fun! I take my dog (German Shepherd x Border Collie) biking with me, she's so fast and loves to pull, I've been looking into putting her in front of my bike and actually bikejoring, not beside it on a Springer. My parents approve of bikejoring (unlike flyball and agility) so maybe we'll look into joining a club and working towards competition! Great video!
I have a husky/Shepard cross. She and I are training and working on commands. I hope to have her ready to hook up to my bike in about a month. It is gonna be scary at first because she pulls like a truck and can easily top 30km
Australian Cattle Dogs in America this is pretty short for them the most important part of pacing/ conditioning is not letting them run all out in the beginning. It takes 3-5 mi before they settle into a pace so we hold them back. The lines have to be tight ALWAYS.
Excellent information. I have my first race coming up but just going to do a 1.5 mi Bikejor for our first go. I wanna say mine can go a straight mile and half or so before setting into jog. They usually go easy the first mile in then we take a 2-3min water break and breather and then when it's time to head back for the other mile they seem to go more balls to the wall.
Australian Cattle Dogs in America yep then don't go any further. Try to do that distance in training faster each time. When you feel they can't go any faster increase the distance on a new trail to 2 mi but slow down the pace. Then gradually increase the speed again.

Great video!
I bet this was way better than riding a roller coaster.
It is a lot of fun for sure!
This is awesome!! How fast are you going? Do you have to peddle any when they are pulling?
18-24 mph yes I am pedaling my ass off!!
