orion is the best cooking machine like dutch oven , but you get black smoke , and meat tastes like crap . i only add woodchips 20 mintues before meat is done . orion needs a vent , a temp stat . and easy to change woodchips pan
Once the cook is done (Orion cook book tells you how long to cook the meat that you are using) I open it up and then use a normal meat thermometer to verify. You never want to open the Orion until you think the dish is done.
@@Mytyweav it does use a lot. However 1 13 lb bag of charcoal ia a lot cheaper than 2 or 3 gallons of peanut oil. A turkey turns out great in this cooker. Very moist

No it doesn’t. However if you want consistency you will use the match light. Starter fluid and regular charcoal is all over the place on cook time
