my choral group sang this last year and it was really fun! but we wont ever be as good as these guys, they are so awesome! i love that they put humor into their music. it makes them fun to listen to and fun to watch! why cant there be more performers like them?
These were mostly the Kings Singers I first saw and you just have to love Bill Ives (tenor) - he's adorable and such a fun actor, especially in Short People!
2022 and still listening. It takes so much talent to produce this. An expat living in South Florida long removed from Essex. I vaguely remember listening to them on BBC 2.
By far, my favorite line-up of the King's Singers. Countertenors Jeremy Jackman and Alastair Hume, tenor Bill Ives, baritones Tony Holt and Simon Carrington, and bass Brian Kay. I was lucky enough to record this 1982 broadcast and have converted it to digital for my enjoyment. I watch/play the program every year at Christmas time. I attended a concert they gave a few years later. Colin Mason was a good replacement for Brian Kay. Bob Chilcott was not even close to matching Bill Ives' melodic timbre. Still, one of my favorite vocal groups.
@@janetaldrich7747 Simon Carrington has been a regular guest at my inn ... he is a conductor and currently rehearsing with the University of Northern Colorado choir to perform Elijah! The most delightful chap.. and still so talented!! I fondly remember the Kings Singers being regulars on the variety shows when i was akid. happy days!
This is what inspired me and my friends to sing this at our high school. just search: "Barber of Seville Overture WHS" and that's us. The King's Singers are incredible! Love them!
I absolutely love this version, it makes me kind of sing along and smile a lot... Brilliant stuff this, I remember see the King Singers on BBC 2 back in the 80's with my Mum... Fabulous reminder and fantastic vocals and harmonies... :0)x
Wow... Can we really see how amazing things can we do, with all the precious and marvelous gifts that we, all of us, have received from Daddy God? CAN WE REALLY UNDERSTAND IT? God bless these guys and help us to shine others, just as TKS have made throughout these years..
this song is awesome, my choir is doing a shortened version of this song and its definitely my favorite all year (singing tenor part, so i get the melody for a lot) its so much fun to sing
@kaffelatte2 .. I am a Kings Singers fan and love all they sing... but I must agree that the 70's 80's 'lot' all seemed to have more fun...Have you listened and watched this line up singing 'Shot People' it is fantastically brilliantly funny and I watch once a day just to get my chuckle muscles warmed up... Happy watching fellow fan and Happy Christmas too... regards from Wales UK :0)X
Lovely to see Brian singing - I'm usually the other side of his baton. He is the inspirational conductor of Leith Hill Musical Festival, The Really Big Chorus and Burford Singers. He's got less hair now :)
@mouthmouse ... have you seen this line up in 'the Kings Singers on the Good Old Days'... I guarantee you will love it... 2 songs totally different to eachother but performed SUPERBLY... I love it.. Ist is a Barber-shop number 'I'm my own Grandpa... the 2nd 'There's no place like home'... Sheer bliss... Best regards from Wales UK :0)x
Fantastico!! Bravo!! Muzarella!!! Ha-ha.. Okay being silly, but it's such fun and I love the King Singers. Takes me back to ol' PBS fund drives. They were always a hit.
The "Quatre Barbus" (4 Bearded Men" sang it in the french movie «Boum sur Paris» (Bang on Paris) (1954) (Music: Rossini - "Lyrics": Francis Blanche) You can see the link below to watch it.
@altaboy97 ... I LOVE IT TOO.. I normally watch it about twice a day though... It always makes me smile and puts me in very good humour before going off to work and when I get home again too... Kings Singers both 'earlies' and 'the here and now's' are fantastic, stupendous and absolutely GREAT.. The absolute tops in my book... In fact the guys nowadays take this at a fair pace...But still fantastic... Oh happy me indeed... :0)x
Love this, and pretty much anything these guys do. Wondering if anyone has a recording of the entire Barber of Seville overture on piano only. I am working on it right now and looking for ideas.
@mouthmouse ... Yes I have watched 'Short People... hee hee.. usually once a day, because it makes me smile so much,,, there a quite a lot of 'oldies' on here of the Kings singers... I subscribed to @kingssingers... there a amazing ones on there... Have you watched 'Masterpiece'... AWESOME is the world I would use to discribe that one...Happy veiwing as I do... Best regards from Wales UK ... :0)x
They are the ones who originated the concept; of course, they have to be the best. I still miss them because nobody has been able to replicate the idea that Simon Carrington had when he founded the king singers.
The King Singers are my favorite male group singers! Absolutely love this!!!
feels like it's been 100 years since i've discovered this song. Listening now in 2022, man...it's amazing. They are amazing :)
Bill’s voice (tenor) is just stunning. The way he sings those high notes 😍
I could watch this over and over again.
You have to love the King's Singers, I really don't see how anyone could dislike them!

Anthony Holt & Simon Carrington
it's part of the overture and it's also a tune from the opera. an overture contains themes from the songs in the opera that it opens.
すばらしい!!
