Mitzi has real talent, should have been in so much more, but film musicals came to an end, what they made would not have suited her ,could not have imagined her in "the sound of music" or "my fair lady" she went on to have a fabulous career, performing on stage at the very best spots in america and canada, also she made the very best tv specials, earning 17 emmy nominations, thankfully her very shrewd husband who guided her career made some very good investments in real estate, she is now a very rich lady
This number has a pizzazz that the MGM ones usually lacked. And while her performance in "South Pacific" was more sensitive, here Mitzi plays her song and dance chops and sexiness to the hilt! And while Tanguay and Garland sang with an airy devil-may-care, Mitzi added a touch of in-your-face, up-yours defiance to the song!
well, Jack Cole at it again, showcasing Mitzi very effectively, but why the change to red costume at the end. jarring, and confusing, for sure. but Jack was capable of that. and more. his work still looks fresh, daring, interesting. thank you, Jack.
1:14 Oscar Levant in a cat suit??!! I remember he plays the piano towards the end of this, and it is absolutely jaw-droppingly brilliant. He was always showing up in movies and just sort of hanging around and saying sardonic things, until his big moment when he'd blow everyone over with his playing.
the costume Mitzi is wearing is the same costume that either Marilyn Monroe or Jane Russell was meant to wear for gentlemen prefer blondes, but the number the outfit was meant to be seen it got cut out of the film, there was also meant to be a number with Marilyn wearing the infamous gold lamé dress but that too got cut out, you only see the back of the Lamé dress when Marilyn is seen dancing with Piggy, the dress is only shown from behind and lasts for 3 seconds on screen.
Era excelente.En esos tiempos ya el musical habia llegado a lo maximo y empezaba el declive.Las coreografias perdian frescura y las voces no conmovian tanto como antes.Digo nomas.
It's a pretty wild song and dance that must have taken her many hours of punishing rehearsal. Better singers? Sure? But how many could have performed it as we now see it? Not that many.
That is one weird number--directed/choreographed by Jack Cole. Fun and strange to see. Love that Mitzi.
NO ONE AROUND TODAY CAN TOP THIS LADY...REAL TALENT...AND SHE WAS QUITE YOUNG WHEN SHE DID THIS FILM....
Kevin Meaney brought me here. Mitzi made me stay.
Mitzi was always a favorite of mine.
In one word: Divine!

That finale though ❤❤❤❤❤❤
check out the Marilyn "Diamonds Are A Girls Friend " moves at 2 minutes in. Jack Cole surely left his mark as a cinematic choreographer !
can't talk about talent and marilyn in the same breath? Mitzi was a consummate entertainer, not a wiggler
*Girl’s
He choreographed all the dance numbers in that movie, not just that one. And it’s Girl’s

I was terrified that her tailfeathers would catch fire during the finale! How did they avoid that? She is moving so rapidly in such a confined area. 🔥
Those Jack Cole 50's Shake Dancer moves are so sexy but not vulgar, less is more

So much better than Beyonce
Mitzi later said that she was "ordinary" on film and that's why she quit. I disagree.
I think she probably meant her acting was basic, which it was.
What movie is this from?
2:42 Oscar Levant as a little old lady?!! I knew he was on drugs. . .
The version earlier in the movie is better
Mitzi is so so so beautiful & a pretty good dancer too. But I don’t think her vocals are much to brag on. Pretty basic tbh. Sorry not sorry!
