  • **All Handouts and Links are here in the description**
By exploring the qabalistic creation myth, we'll see where the tarot fits into that symbolism. Then we'll drill down to just the pips or numbered cards. We'll learn various ways to understand the suit cards through qabalistic symbolism. Then we'll do some practice spreads to put our new found knowledge to work. This video is a recording of an online workshop.

Wow, this is the information that I have been looking for. Of course now that I have watched this you have helped me discover more that I want to explore. I wonder how all of this would be impacted if they ever discover an additional planet in our solar system.

I have a question, I have seen some people put Beriah as the element of air instead of water. I'm confused aa which one is more accurate. Could you please provide more details regarding this?

Yes, I've seen that done as well. To my knowledge, that is due to the ordering of the elements according to Greek philosophy and not Qabalistic philosophy. In Greek philosophy, the elements are arranged by weight -- fire is lightest and at the top, then air, water pools, then earth sinks: the heaviest and most dense. So if you map the elements in this order onto the four worlds, you get Briah as air. In the Greek philosophy, the elements pull away from each other, fire and air reaching up toward the heavens and water and earth sinking down toward earth. The ultimate result is that the elements are constantly separating from each other. The way I learned it studying Hermetic Qabalah, the elements alternate polarity and interact with their opposite -- Fire interacts with Water, then Air with Earth. In this way, the elements are drawn toward their opposite which results in a creative interaction. I talk about it more in my blog post regarding how the elements influence the order of the tarot suits: joyvernon.com/qa-joy-the-right-order-of-the-tarot-suits/

I have to admit, if there's a distinctly qabalistic reason for this I am sadly ignorant of it.
