I know this is 10 months old and you were giving advice rather than looking for it, but I may have a nice trick for you to try. Grow a couple barrels of potted peppermint (I say potted because mints can take over your whole yard). Grab a handful of the peppermint leaves and rub the donkey's back & legs down. Flies DESPISE peppermint! We had a peppermint mister in our stables at one point which worked WONDERFULLY but got a little spendy after a few years. The over the counter creams and meds for after care are great but adding preventative measures is also very beneficial. Maybe even consider planting a pot or two around or in their stables, if they eat it they will not be harmed. In fact they quite like it and can help with upset tummy by helping to expel gasses and gently stimulating appetite.
I live in an apartment and I've never even been near a donkey, Yet somehow, I'm subscribed and addicted to these videos. Welcome back, Victoria. Keep them coming! ☺👌
Me too! I found a donkey shelter in my state that offers 'donkey walks'. For a fee, you can spend an afternoon with the donkeys. My husband is taking me there for my birthday...can hardly wait! Longhopes was on my bucket list but it's just too far for this old lady. (New England) I just had to comment after reading yours! Cheers!
@@lindag4484 Nice! What a great idea! Enjoy that and happy birthday. I live in Ontario, Canada, so to visit LH is reeeaaally difficult for me. I might be talked into the trip but Victoria is going to have to buy me a beer or something. Of course she WON'T so it's still an unlikely trip for me. Haha. But like you, I might find something local. That all said, I'm addicted to donkeys because of this channel. I wish I could visit there. C'est la vie! 😆
@@zephyrsonzephyrson8618 Hello from Ottawa, Ontario! This channel is wonderful, isn't it? I love how affectionate the donkeys are--they get lots of attention & really seem to love their kind caregivers at Longhopes. We are fortunate to have a couple of donkey rescues here in Ontario. The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada which is down near Guelph, and Primrose Donkey Sanctuary over near Peterborough way. Both sanctuaries have youtube pages with videos! Hope you're having 'a brayful day'! 😉
@@tothelighthouse9843 How are things in our nation's capitol? Speaking of places I want to visit, Ottawa is one of them. I was born in Toronto but my father was born in Ottawa so there is more than one reason for me to get out there. ☺ To answer your question, YES, I have realised those two sanctuaries actually and only recently, in fact. I will probably visit the one in Guelph, since it's closer to where I live (just North of Toronto). I didn't notice the RUclips pages though. I will dig a bit deeper. I had a friend who was talking about donkeys one day and it struck my curiosity. So I hit RUclips and found Longhopes and sort of stopped there. There is something about this page in particular that strikes a chord with me..a warmth, I suppose that so far feels unique to this page. Thanks for your suggestion. I want to get out to Guelph but I also want to look at Longhope's wishlist when I can. Watching Victoria's chemistry with these donkeys is like a refreshing daydream...probably because I'm not doing any work. Haha.
Good morning and lot's of love from Perth Western Australia. Not seen any video updates from you all for 6 months now...., I miss them and am hoping all is ok. X
Interesting video. Donkeys have a myriad of needs just like people do. They are smart, affectionate animals and deserve special care. Thank you for another great Longhopes video! - Subscriber and major fan!!
I just found your/Longhopes' channel, and from the videos I've watched, your educational videos are quite informative and well done. I know you're probably very busy people, so I hope you post more videos soon. Maybe sometime in the future you'd be interested in posting some for fun videos, i.e. without as much instruction, but maybe where you talk about donkey personalities and how people can safely bond and play with donkeys friends, etc.? I've never been around donkeys, but I think they're fascinating and beautiful creatures, so that's why I asked about donkey personalities and etc. Thank you for being kind loving people, and for providing donkeys in need a safe place where they're well cared for.
It's SO neat that your advocating and taking care of donkeys. Please continue with educating us on how to properly taking care of these biblical animals. Noone but Jesus should ever ride a donkey. They are too frail for humans to ride them. I love how you are tender towards them. They are very smart and aware of what people's intentions are.
Apple Cider Vinegar. Try different essential oils Lavender is the least irritating. Also fans discourage them as well. Thank you for loving our donkey friends!
This is a great suggestion but terribly bad for for donkeys. There have been studies that indicate eating garlic causes anemia in donkeys. Garlic can work for horses but not safe for donkeys 💜
Thank you all for watching and being here!
I have full size donkey flies bad this yr. Not able to find fly mask for his big head help.
How is Van Gogh doing?

Hi! Love your video's! Do you know a recipe for flyspray...? Keep it up!!!
Such a good model. Thank you both for educating us
Love it thank you!
Apple Cider Vinegar. Try different essential oils
Lavender is the least irritating. Also fans discourage them as well. Thank you for loving our donkey friends!
I wish I had enough room to have donkeys!
Great video. Thank you.

Poor donkeys. I never knew this was a thing. Very informative!
Does neem oil work well for fly spray?
☺️☺️☺️
Great video!
Where can I get donkey size fly masks?
Blessings
So sweet! ❤️
Thank you!!
Why can't the flymask have a clear face panel so we can see him and he can see us? And what about a garter belt to hold up the stockings 😃.
The fly masks have that mesh so they can see through it. There are other ones that are thinner where you can actually see their faces better! 💜💜
Brilliant
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Seen a guy use large flypaper near his animals.helps alot.

Socks for horses.....unless your horse is a shire. Cause shovel sized hooves
Shoot leggings are the best ive used for the legs on my mammoth donkeys
Look up Coghill farm…contact them…they have solved their problem
lolol good stuff ;)
Aren’t the covers hot 🥵?
They are actually a mesh so very good for air flow.
Great video! Thank you.
