Hello from Montreal, Quebec! Thank you for sharing this vlog, really helpful! If you haven’t been to Playa Pilar and are planning to go, it is definitely a must see, I loved it! ☺️☺️🌊🌴🐚🥥🐠🍍
@@keepingupwithzeek You pay for the wi fi at a rate for one hour I think it worked out at about one Canadian dollar per hour, depends on the exchange rate, but not sure about that now. I got back from Cuba in March 22.
Nice video. We're doing a family trip this March at this resort. I read some lousy reviews of it on a travel board but it's always great to see recent videos of it.
@@brandonsmith8653 I was impressed by the grounds but my likes ended there. The place is in dire need of renovations and upkeep. Won't be going back evr again.
@@luigipalazzini5109 agreed, I find the staff kinda lacking as well compared to other places Iv been to. Overall it’s been decent, but yeah, never again😅
when we were there it was super busy. outside of the very first day we could never get a seat at the beach and were pretty much at the pool. We would just walk down to the beach to take a swim in the ocean. And for us, if we wanted shade (which we did) I would have to get up at 5:30 in the morning to find a spot and try and reserve it. Which i hate doing. But you have to play the game if everyone else is doing it.
Hey Greg first why did you show the previous footage before this one while on the previous you were already there and this one you showed the travel bit? Allthough the reort looked ok its not the place to go for good food right? Well at least you made it home safe, still wondering what that not so nice bit was you were talking about.
Very nice video. Im thinking about going there for a week next month. Did you have to tip much and what currency did you use for tipping? I stayed at the Melia in March and the staff there where really desperate to get tips. I tipped a few dollars here and there (US dollars ) but I didn’t tip all the time as I couldnt afford it. Many staff members gave me the cold shoulder for not always tipping 😔Thanks for the wonderful video 👌 Ps can we now serve ourselves at the buffet ?
Greg, thanks for your review. Would you please help by answering my two questions? I am traveling with my family and little paranoid after reading reviews on multiple platforms. 1) Did you find any cockroaches or ants in your room or resort indoor areas? 2) Do they have decent fries or cheese pizza? My son would survive on that. I am not worried about myself.
Better a plane that's late that you can wait for than early that you missed. Looked like a pretty nice resort. Though a bit off the beaten path I guess. I liked Varadero where you could walk through town and get more of a sense of how the locals lived.
Hi Greg. My partner and I are planning to go to this hotel through sunwing. I was wondering, at the market did you pay in CAD or did you convert your currency to the local one to buy souvenirs? I'm debating if I should even convert my CAD to the CUC. If you see this please let me know. Thanks 😊
Dont use CUC as nobody accepts it anymore. So convert to either US (for smaller bills to tip) or use Canadian. And be sure to bring a CC as a lot of places only accept CC.
Bro. Im cuban born and raised in miami. I don’t know how you guys handled to eat that food. This is the reason i dont put my money into a cuban hotel because it will never meet any of US hotels or Dominican Republic food amount and quality
Please I invite you to raise awareness and help those Cuban people who suffer and go hungry because of a dictatorship that you feed with every penny you spend in Cuba. Do not visit Cuba, do it for the Cuban people. Every meal you eat every drink is forbidden to millions of Cubans. Go to better and fairer destinations like the Dominican Republic or Mexico. Say yes for Cuba it democratizes, say yes for Cubans, say yes for for freedom for cuban people . Homeland and life !. PATRIA Y VIDA !

Hey Greg, another question. Is it paid wifi or free?
It was free when we were there.
Thanks for sharing, the vlog helped answer some questions I had for sure. How long was the drive from the airport to the resort? And how was the food?
Music is very Nice. Welcome to Cuba ♥️
How was the resort overall? My brother and I are looking at attending this resort at the beggining of March 2023. How are the drinks?
Hi Greg, thanks for the video. How was the wifi connection at the resort? I heard you only get access for 5 hours per day, is that true?
Once it runs out you just go to the front desk and get more time. Internet worked great in our room.
@@gregtoope okay sounds good. Thank you Greg

It seems like you made the best of it without complaining, good video.
You take what you’re given.

yeah Varadero was super nice, but this was just a bit more price friendly at time of booking.
Thanks for the video.

Did you say "drinks on the bus"?
thank you for this video. Was the beach a far walk? Also was the beach nice or was there rocks? Thank you in advance

Looks like you had great weather, Greg.
we did. was a little breezy but that helped with the heat. The breeze was very welcome. The temp was around 28 celsius everyday
Love cuba
Hi is there a discoteca?
How was the food for cuba?
It was pretty weak. They were having all kinds of issues getting food.
Cuba has always had food issues idk if you been to cuba before the pandemic
Do you know how much a common month salary is on Cuba.??....Never said anything is cheap.!!!
Would you like some ice cream with the chocolate sauce
actually the ice cream was pretty good. we thought it was vanilla, but it was a banana flavour.
I think the dishwasher cooked your breakfast
yeah thats what we thought too.

We don’t go for the food.
Agreed 👍
food looked hideous
The bacon looked good cooked just right
