Hundreds audition, but only a select group will secure spots in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders training camp. DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell oversee the intense audition process and decide which hopefuls will make the team.

I am so happy they started with Maddie. They said her style was wrong. She made the team and show group the very next year. In 2019 she became a group leader and then the following year she was made point.

Wow....I didn't realize it was Brennan's fourth attempt before she actually made the team. That takes an incredible amount of courage, hard work and tenacity. Maddie, Victoria and all of these women brought it when they returned to training camp. For those girls that got cut as veterans, they should be really proud of themselves. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it is to get cut, but at least they were given the opportunity of making the team and having a great season, etc. The talent each year is getting insanely competitive and fierce.

I agree. Those vets that were cut should be proud of themselves. They had whatever amount of time on the team. They had the courage to even try out again and again if they had too. I know for myself, I grew up wanting to make the team back in the day. But being overly shy I was not able to do so. So everyone that even has the courage to try out the first time should be very proud.
Kudos to 🐱 Carter for encouraging Brennan to audition a 4th time. The scene where Charlotte announced her debut year was one of my favorites in Making the Team history

Meredith is absolutely stunning but was given clear favoritism for zero reason. Others have been cut for less. It’s so obvious when Kelly likes someone despite their skill not being anywhere near up to par

You gave the reason, she's stunning. They wanted her on the squad because she's got electric good looks, next level, imo. They probably figured she'd have a breakthrough and then they'd have the best of both worlds. But you're right, the definitely held on to her longer than you would have expected.
@@dantrim3937 looks aren’t enough you have to have the full package at DCC so they gave her too many chance.

Definitely. She got lucky that she was put on the team because there were others who were by far better and were cut. She was constantly behind and having to chase the movements. She is very nice but in a way she was a bit too cocky. She thought she was doing everything right and she mostly got it right when she was way off. Then COVID-19 hit and the next training camp was only 2 or 3 weeks long and since she was a veteran she didn’t go to training camp until it was halfway over for the rookies and since she is a very slow learner she just couldn’t keep up again and with training camp lasting 1-2 weeks for the veterans there was just no way they could hold onto her without the group she would be with looking bad in season 15. Only one judge from season 15 said yes to keep Meredith and that was Kelly. Everyone else said no. If Kelly saw any other dancers dance as bad as Meredith she never would have made the team. There were others who should have made the team over Meredith. Shaina for 1 should have made it over her. Meredith got very few stickers for her season (judges and guest choreographers put a sticker with their initials on the photo they think should have made the team) while others had stickers from almost all of the judges and choreographers and were still sent home.
Sometimes they just need a year to mature. A year made a huge difference in Maddie and Victoria.

Yes. It’s actually quite amazing to see the difference between the first year they tried out and the 2nd year they tried out. The difference is stunning and not only with their maturity but their dancing and being able to remember all of those routines and not only doing well but they dominated and made show group the year after getting cut. Maddie was made a group leader from her 3rd to 5th season and being made a co point with Amy for her 4th season and co point with Rachel W
I loved Victoria telling Kelly it’s ok! A lot of maturity started at that moment!
I was amazed with Victoria’s transformation. She was very annoying during training camp season 13 with her childish behavior. When she came back for season 14 she killed it and even made show her first year on the team. I know she took a year off after season 15 and returned for what would have been DCC session 17
It’s crazy how far Maddie has come! And to see her now as a group leader for the past 3 years and now she is point of the triangle! She is proof that hard work and dedication pays off 😍😍

Not to mention she got group leader without having been a second group leader. I don't know if that has ever been done before.
@@RealTalk1411 Maddie struggled with being a group leader the first time. She was taking it out on the girls in her group because of it, and the fact a friend of her died. Some of the girls went to Kelli, and Maddie was talk to about how she was treated the girls in her group. She probably got away with it because she is a Kelli and Charlotte favorite.

@@RealTalk1411 Kashara wasn’t a second leader but she was supposed to be her third year. She became the group leader of group 4 after her first leader Erica, got injured and then sued the team.
Kelly doesn't just say "your cut " she respectfully says in a different way and I like that about her
She's direct, but all businesslike. I like her style too.

yeah but that one with lily “you’re not gonna make this team” was harsher than “you’re cut from training camp” 😭😭
I know Meredith is a solo beautiful dancer, great team member, and she’s really sweet but she never “made the team” they were obsessed with her look and kept her when others were sent home for less. She never had their style in training camp and that was obvious when they had to let her go the following year. I think Lily got kept because they were keeping Meredith (let’s not forget they had to many on the squad that year). They both went home following their first year with with the same dance critiques which proves my point. You have to apply the same too everyone, if it’s about the dance you have to let people go.
I agree both improved a lot but Meredith especially shouldn’t have made the team. Maybe if she had been cut and then come again she would have been better off, since she would have had more prep time
They did Meredith a disservice bc she cut use that year to go to classes and prepare. Instead of feel that she made it to be taking away the next year.
Brennan handled both her cuts absolutely beautifully. Even when she was caught off guard. Impressive. Not all do… well. Until the 2020 season 😬

@@florencejones552 I don’t either, I feel like a lot of them were struggling with their mental health and also physical health too. I don’t think they should’ve even had tryouts that year. They probably should’ve kept the team as it was for that season and then revisited tryouts the next season but that’s me 🤷🏻♀️

Maddie was the reason I started watching. , she is my absolute favourite. She is a lovely caring person and she a brilliant dancer.

i'm glad they are finally putting the seasons on screen so we know what we are watching. it can be complicated with so many girls and so many seasons so it helps now they made it easy. so proud of these girls for getting on the team finally.

Victoria earned every ounce of her success as a DCC. She took the critiques and came back and THRIVED.

Victoria fell out a turn during auditions. Pretty sure any other candidate would not have been invited into semi-finals.

I absolutely LOVE Brennan’s attitude and how she handles herself…I hope for great things to continue for her!
Maddie is the epitome of grace with how she handled getting cut. She seems like such a sweet person and I loved how she answered when the panel asked how she would deal with the uniform and her Mormon faith.
What I like most is that usually the ladies are very mature about being cut and leave with grace. When they tried out the following year I bet it is a huge factor for the judges to consider them then. Maddie is an example that being cut can work for the best: she came back more confident and made it in show group; now she is the point of the triangle!
Was cut from my high school team in my second year. It was a cocky attitude on my part. Over confident and not performing up to par.
I never tried again, and I regret it.

Brennan has to be my favorite bc as a former dancer (who is very superstitious) the 3rd times the charm and I wouldn't have been strong enough to go back the 4th time. Good for her for making her dream come true and never giving up.

Idk WHO tweezed Maddie’s eyebrows her first year. That and the jet black fried straight hair (that NO ONE helped her out with during make overs) was 98% of the problem the first year.
Thank God she took matters into her own hands and came back looking AMAZING.
She came back stronger as herself and not the girl they tried to make her be.
Maddie with her naturally curly hair in 2011, she was absolutely gorgeous! She has to be my favorite 2nd chance. Plus her makeup during the game parts and interviews, she is beautiful and I love her so so so much.

Oh man Victoria's cut was so heartbreaking! I'm so so glad she made it!! Her mascara was all down her face poor thing 😂
I know I felt so bad for her. She’s so gorgeous that she still looked beautiful even w black mascara running down her face , a messy pretty . I’m glad she came back and slayed it so fierce she was such a standout performer.

Meredith comes off as cocky to me. Its like she always thinks she did amazing (in this video and in season 15 when she said she was so sure she was top 36) but she's not good at the DCC dancing. She never should've made the team at all.
She couldn't memorize choreography and was off all season.

The passion isn't there like some of the other girls and I only have watched tonight a few RUclips videos. You can tell it's for the show of it, when for others it's like their all.
I remember very early on in the series when Natalie Woods, Ryan Ray, and Candace Carr all came back for another try and made it the second time around.
Same with Brandi Kilby, Sunni Cranfill, Joannah Liad, Brittney Schram, Alyssa Sarasani, and Courtney Cook.
Meredith Oden was too. She tried out in the 2 hour special season then came back on a different season

as a former actor, I can relate to rejection and struggle, I had to stop, I could see I didn't have enough talent to make it
If you want it then don't ever give up. When did you stop trying? Don't go through life asking yourself, "What if I had kept trying?" If you think you don't have it then take some classes and GET IT!!! If people are saying you don''t have it then keep telling yourself and them, "I'll show you!" Don't ever give up on your DREAM Michael. When you fall down, get up, brush yourself off and go for it again. After last year of the COVID there is nothing you can not achieve.

I'm sorry that the OP decided to stop working toward their dream, but I also recognize that it takes a lot of self-awareness to realize that you're just not there talent wise to accomplish what you want to accomplish. It's okay to be honest with yourself and shift your focus to work toward other goals.
I hope to see another second-chance compilation with Christina, Kelsey and some of the earlier season girls (I.e. Natalie Woods)

I wanna see journeys for the Trevino sisters, Tasha, Nicole Bulcher, Mia Greenhouse, Nicole Hamilton, and Ashlee.
There isn't much footage of Nicole Hamilton for there to be a DCC Journey video. During her time on the show she only had 3 confessionals. So if anything she might a The Best Of video like Tess did. The others will definitely have DCC Journey videos. There's plenty footage of Tasha and Miss Nicole Bulcher.

Didn’t Brennan get Covid in S15 and got cut again ..man four times she tried out and made it on the team for two seasons . That was a roller coaster that didn’t end well 😳
she got it before season 15 started! then her lily, and hannah got cut later in training camp all in the same night!!
@@angelwilborn1091 yeah they didn't have a whole lot of time to fuss with it last year unfortunately. Brennan PROBABLY would have come back way better if training camp had been standard length.

In 2020 she came back as a vet, she just got over Covid. Personally she shouldn't have came back that year. 1. She didn't allow her body to heal 2 she didn't allow her mindset to change 3 she wasn't as humble as she should have been.

As for being a man in this group I really took to all the girls especially Maddie to have the courage and perseverance to try again.

I am so very proud of Maddie. She came back strong and only got stronger each year. WOW and then she became a group leader, the point of the star and even make Show Group. Good For you Maddie. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do now. You will truly be missed. Brennan, Good for you girl. You didn't give up on your dream. You are an inspiration to not ever give up on something that you really want. Meredith is a great dancer but not DCC type. I am very surprised that she made it the first time. Lily was just boring. I can't believe she made it either. Kristin was great. I think she just had a lot of things going on when she was in training camp the first time. Victoria, I think she needed to grow up a little bit. Then she came back very strong. I am proud of her.

I guess I’m confused why on season 14 they extended the squad to 37.... but wouldn’t make special circumstances for anyone else 🤷🏻♂️
I have a feeling that maybe one of the long time veterans could have been injured, but they didn’t want to lose them - so they took 37 that year to perhaps cover the girls, so they’re not readjusting the triangle and formations.
I think Gina had quite an injury towards the end of the season, so that extra came in handy. Although, I don’t know why they don’t do that every year?
@@KatieRawsthorne Usually they have All Star cheerleaders, retired DCCs that still can be called for appearances. Emma and Jinelle for example filled in Simone and Yuko twice
@@EmVee. Of course! Fair point - I’d completely forgotten about that!! Wonder why this one season they decided upon that, or if post-covid seasons when there is somewhat regularity, they’ll continue the ‘audition each week’ 37?
It was a story line for the show aka we will try alternates this year. Notice Meredith and Lily were cut the following year. Obviously they were no longer an use for Kelli and Charlotte.
Maddie had injured herself a few weeks prior. Got really bad when they did jump splits on the field towards the end of tc, and she was helped off the field crying (I believe it was this same season and you should be able to find a video of it?). They probably let in an extra girl just in case Maddie’s injury ended up taking her out for the season. I believe another vet was injured too but I don’t remember it what happened with that one. It was probably an injury, other wise I don’t see why they would’ve sent Shaina home and kept Meredith at the end there.
