I took an ethnobotany class in college and the professor was talking about environmental activism and what inspires people to care about it. Someone said the reason any of us 80s and 90s kids are environmentalists is because of Captain Planet. All 100 of us in the auditorium agreed. The prof didn't know who Captain Planet was so we were all trying to explain this to her.
They melted the street and caused an accident to "save the planet".

Let’s be honest. This was one of the more underrated shows from our childhood. They did an amazing job with this show and it stuck to the theme and issues that mattered. No agenda, no politics, just a good show about literally making the world a better place for all people everywhere.

Im 11 years old and my mom is 37 so, when I was watching this my mom was smiling a lot and eventually laughed so beautifully it melted my heart and after a few seconds she told me that it was one of her favourite cartoons in the 90's and she would watch it in the old televisions....

I must say thanks to this show I never take any drugs or alcohol (as a kid I remeber that particular chapter and saw drugs like a weapon against you). I also try to clean the environment from garbage, to take care of the environment and local fauna. Awesome show!!!

I loved this show growing up. I’m 34 and I still love it.
I'm 40 something and I love this stuff. Silverhawks, Thundercats He-man,transformers..they use to spend time and do work to make opening themes and they touch the deep waters in the body that gives us that reminiscent feeling.
I'm about to be 32 this year and I remember it.
This song somehow always plays in my head. It will always live rent free in my head.
I can't remember anything from my degree, what I had for lunch, why I opened Google, what I was about to say etc etc. Because all of that brain space is taken up by children's TV themes, nursery rhymes, ancient jingles, and power ballads.

This is my childhood cartoons - I remember watching this as a child in Lahore, Pakistan, and I am still truly grateful to the creators of this cartoon because I learned about pollution, how to conserve energy and care for our planet and its species. This is the first ever cartoons created advocating to saving our planet and fighting against "climate change." Too bad that most politicians of the world ignored the message completely and continue to exploit our planet for natural resources. Today's generation need to watch this instead of garbage of today.

Looking back, it's staggering to see how many A-list celebs did voices for this show.

I am about a month 1/2 from turning 43. I never really watch this cartoon during the early 90s, but I always appreciated the message and the cool theme song. It’s now Memorial Day 2024, and I suddenly thought of this cartoon.

So my government textbook (in college) defines me as a millenial and yet I was born in 1999. The textbook definition says "Americans born between 1983 and 2001" which is crazy because every source on the Internet defines me as Gen Z. I'd like to say I'm in that obscure middle area between Millenials and Gen Zers but yeah this show makes sense.
