I've said "I'll start again tomorrow" or "next week" or "just after..." so many times.. I used to practice every single day and realized now I don't think I've done anything in *months*... I got distracted. Thank you for this video. I'm going to stop letting myself get distracted.
I would like to follow the route of WC, but two factors deter me from doing so: 1. Developing a hunchback over the years and 2. Bad knees from bending them inwards.
@@sifuadamwilliss thank you for your response. Sifu Victor Gutierrez is a good example of hunchback as a result of years of training. It is not pleasant to see at all.
@@misoadeio practicing the sets with good form and specifically the chamber position balances the body. If someone is developing a hunchback it means they aren’t doing these things properly. You don’t develop bad knees from bending them inward. You develop bad knees by practicing incorrectly.
Cheers Sifu Adam very timely for me. Where I train is dipping it’s tie into other things I have no interest in as they aren’t wing chun and I remain single minded on only wanting to do wing chun. I did voice my thoughts last week that they can do fantasy fu I’ll do real Kung fu. It wasn’t received well by all. Tonight I have another class. I best watch this video a good few times so I can repeat to myself.
Just watched again as a way to scrub myself against the points you make. I’m still single minded on learning Wing Chun, I’m trusting the process my Sifu is laying down but feel the traditional teaching does hold you back. He is a direct student of WSL. So it’s all good. I practice nearly every day, I do other functional/mobility training also, SLT once a week minimum of 20mins per time. I’m not ready to lose mobility and athleticism gained from this training (shoulders and hips). Overall I’m getting better but need more training and understanding and also acquire the knowledge of how to relax when under pressure. Thanks again Sifu Adam
Hello are you still teaching people and having classes available in person? Also where are you located I'm currently in Maryland but i fear the WC school here isn't really that good based on what i researched about them
Sifu.i have a question. what are thoughts after seeing countless videos on the internet about wing chun not being effective and seeing that some masters cant defend against modern martial arts
I think these videos are propaganda put out by MMA enthusiasts. The Wing Chun I know has no problems dominating other martial arts including modern combat sports. I’m fact, that’s one of the main reasons I practice Wing Chun… because of how effective it is against all kinds of threats.
@@sifuadamwilliss actually im a highschool student and all my friends practice MMA and boxing and the say wing chun is lower then the rest...i just needed to hear your words.Thank you😁✨
@@wiseeystreem7162 Ask yourself why Xu Xiadong never knocked on Sifu Tu Tengyao's door when Xu was galivanting about in South West China? Then watch Tu Tengyao and you'll see the answer. Wing Chun might be "lesser" when talking sports and entertainment with rules, refs, judges in front of a bunch of shouting drunk losers but Wing Chun isn't a sport. Wing Chun is also not meant to start fights, but rather finish them. In the shortest time possible. Sifu Adam is 100% right - just haters who actually don't have a clue what Wing Chun really actually is and how it can seriously put people down. And I mean down, not just hurt.
Sil Nim Tau - "Little Idea" form/ first open hand form in Wing Chun. I think the Kuen / saying is "Practice Sil Nim Tau once a day, more will do no harm." Practice on wooden dummy was after that.

Duly noted...seriously.
Thank you
For the record....I will never quit...(even if it seems like it)....this is my life now.
Thanks again for all that you do!🙂👍🏼
Good stuff. Basics that are needed. Motivation is key here to keep going. No schools or Sifus around here. Hey, any seminars coming up?
Graduates from my 90-day beginners course get the chance to do Zoom

I don’t see why either one of those reasons should deter you.
