Your loosely painted sunflower watercolor painting is stunning, Ksenia! Wonderful use of hard and soft edges. I enjoyed hearing about your process for selecting a reference as well. Your wonderful painting video has been added to the Farm Art Challenge Official Playlist. Hugs to you Ksenia!
Just started following your instructive videos, when I realized that we are have been friends on Facebook for several years. - I am getting back to drawing, painting and photography after two years of break due to eye operations. It's not good, but I enjoy seeing a bit better now.
I've painted a full sheet of watercolor before. I love painting big! Mostly though, I paint with quarter sheet. It's difficult for most people to paint loose but I love your paintings and hope to give more things a try more loosely. Thank you for such great videos.
Hiii dear Artist Your art work is so beautiful. You are giving something to the world. You are preparing other artists with your art. So you and your art are great.🌹👌👌👌👌👌
Oh. Stunning! You paint beautifully & I really enjoy every lesson you show us here. I am probably a bit beyond intermediate but certainly not an expert. I paint on different sizes of paper from sketchbook up to 18 x22 I think it is. I also paint on watercolor canvas... lots of fun and doesn't need a frame.
I love the sunflower. Those large brushes and strokes you use intimidate me. I’m still a small sketchbook kind a person. I don’t think I’ve heard a person say they don’t have browns on their palette and mix their own. It is a beautiful mix! Also, you had me worried at the end with the white ink but but it ended up looking great!
I really love you teaching style. You’re channel is great.! To answer your questions I usually paint on 9x12. My largest so far is 10X14. I want to paint something 18x24 to go over my fireplace. I will post a link of this video in the Angela Fehr group I am a member of right now. 😃
Beautiful. The largest painting I have attempted is a quarter sheet. Most of my paintings are on 9 X 12 sheets. I don't yet have the courage to go bigger!
Love your 🌻 sunflower ❤️ Happy to have subscribed. I am impressed with the movement of your brush strokes and loose style. Hope to accomplish this myself though l tend to be concerned with details.
Thanks for your tips and info. When I paint loose, it always turns out to be to light. And when I try to make a second wash it turns out terribly thick and heavy. Like painted with children’s watercolors. Must try to use more pigment in the 1st wash already. I’m painting usually on 140lb paper (30x40cm). Not sure that it isn’t to thin. thanks again 😀👍
Martina, thicker paper (300 lb) will make the colors more saturated and can take more washes. A couple of things to consider: a flat brush holds more pigment than water, so the first layer will be more saturated. Also check your pigments transparency per manufacturer's catalog. I had a set of Holbein watercolors and about half of them were semi-transparent or even close to opaque, that's why I now mostly use Daniel Smith. Thank you for watching the video!
You showed only how you chose a specific photo, do you plan in a future video how to chose or what to look for when looking for a good photo with many examples of what is a good photo and what is a not so good photo
Patti, changing your drawing as you paint can be tricky. I would start with a good, accurate drawing (especially if you don't have a ton of practice with wc), but then, if you have to change something, do it at the very end.
The way you build on the negative spaces to reveal the petals was stunning!
Thank you! I wasn't completely sure it will work, but somehow it did! 😄😄😄

Stunning!
Preciós. Quins colors més vius. M’encanta aquesta tècnica. Per molts anys des de Barcelona.
Wow!

Thank you so much for watching, Karen, and for your nice comment! I love watercolor canvas too!
I really love this loose style. But quite terrible at it. Thanks for this tutorial, I may try it some time. I need to let loose :D
Just takes a little practice.. Good luck! :)
Too good
This painting is gorgeous! I'm inspired to try a large loose painting!
So glad to hear that, Lynne! Good luck with your painting!
Beautiful. You can think of using watercolour grounds to cover and repaint problem areas 😀
That is very true, Ranjana, good point!

Thank you, Sarah! Sketchbook is fun, I paint small as well, but sometimes I feel adventurous I guess. :)))
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it, Diana!
@@KseniaAnnis I did, I truly did 🥰

Thank you so much, Emily! And thank you for answering the question, I'm working on a beginner watercolor class, so it's important for me to know. ❤

Thank you, Chloe! A quarter sheet is a good size, I paint a lot of those as well! :)

Thank you, Roselyn! I know, those pesky details, it's hard to stop. Good luck with your art!

Just beautiful! I just did a sunflower yesterday, can we trade? 😁 Kidding, I'm a beginner. Thank you for your teaching.
LOL! I'm sure your sunflower was beautiful, Patti! Thank you for watching the video.
Your sunflower painting is lovely and thank you for sharing your technique. I am 101 years old and no longer paint but love to watch your demos.
Valiera, your comment made my day! Thank you so much for being here on my channel!

That will be a video about photography though... but I'll think what I can come up with, stay tuned! :)
Do you think it's ok to sketch the flower and just not follow it exactly when you paint it? I'm afraid I'd get lost along the way.
