The Australian Kelpie, or simply Kelpie, is an Australian sheep dog capable of mustering and droving with little or no guidance. It is a medium-sized dog and comes in a variety of colours.
Like so many breeds, the origin of the Kelpie is disputed. There is no doubt, however, that the origin of the breed came from dogs imported from Scotland. These dogs were black and tan, longhaired with semi-pricked ears, medium-sized and of Collie type.

I had a Kelpie, accidentally had my first pure bread(Oso, adopted from a…let’s say well meaning fellow, only knew Spanish commands and lived an…adventurous life…w/in a year was hearding my nephew w/ his snout, gentle as could be, away from stairs…just said, “Oso(for us his name) round up” and he hearses him back
Beautiful beast, one of the best dogs I’ve ever had…he only ever wanted to be loved, and once he got it, couldn’t have been a better dog
They are incredible companions, 🙌🏿
I have one at first we didn’t have an exercise routine and he would get bored and like to knock plants down and play with the dirt and chew the plant. Now I take him out for bike rides three times a day. Very easy to train but at times super hyper.

I had a brother & sister pair & cannot express how smart they were ! Amazing & the fitter they get the fitter they want to be. At 13 years old the female could sit at a 6 ft fence & go straight over.
I did spend a lot of time with them training & exercising & the rewards were way beyond my expectations. It was though they spent every living moment to make me happy. Cried like a baby when they died.Best 15 years ever.

They have spots on their tongue! My Kelpie is smart! I don't need to walk her with the leash, but place is required! But she never has the leash pulled! She walks beside me there's no tension in the leash! She loves to walk! She was the head mayor of 9 dogs! And she ran 12 horses around all the time! They really are man's best friend!

The Kelpie's ancestory has been genetically traced and does NOT contain dingo blood lines unlike the Blue Heeler.

I think my dog is a Kelpie and she is a frickin sweetheart. There's this blue heeler at the dog park and that dog is such a little fucker. Fun to watch the owner wonder why the hell he got a blue heelwr

Go for a chocolate. I have a black and tan but wanted a chocolate. However from the litter I looked at the chocolates were all male and I wanted a female. Still very happy with my dog and she gets a lot of compliments at the dog park.

Don’t get an active working dog if you can’t work it. They need a JOB, that could be dock diving, Agility, and they still need work. Could be obedience training, training, or an hour walk. Don’t just buy a herding dog when you live in a house with a small backyard and you’re unable to exercise it. You know how many kelpies are surrendered a year due to inexperienced owners who buy them? Then sell them when they see the dog has ruined their house?. Don’t get a kelpie if you can’t walk, train, and give a job.
