Is the first Mavic Air still worth it in 2021?

- I've been flying the original Mavic Air for about a year and I'm pretty happy with it. The video quality still holds up and it you don't need the latest and greatest technology the Mavic Air is a really good value now. Not to mention it probably the best quality drone in the smallest and lightest package.

I am sill using my mavic air and it never disappoints me. I am not professional so the 1st generation does the job.
I love my Air 1. Fully compatible with Litchi waypoints. The drone literally flys itself. Amazing video quality
Man do u find mavic aie accessories? Like battery and propeller s?
@@karmaplays4857 the usual places, eBay and amazon
What about the batteries? Most of em are used or over priced online
@@dontlookatmyprofile7497 I was able to get extra batteries on ebay and they've been working fine. Price wasn't bad either
Great review of the Mavic air , I love my Mavic air it's super reliable and trustworthy . The veiws were great , a sub and a big thumbs up for your efforts 👍🇬🇧
What a beautiful backyard you have to play in.
I enjoyed my Mavic Air before I sold it except of course for the annoying sound level of the props.
Great video. Almost makes me want to go out and buy it again.
Great stuff Alex. Enjoyed the real world example!
I have the Air as well ... haven't had as much opportunity to fly / use / learn as I'd like too. So much to do!!!
I'm getting one tomorrow
Thank you so much for this review. Was contemplating buying new batteries for my Air or selling it to upgrade. Guess I'll keep it for a few more months.
You have captured some beautiful shots.
Totally agree, this is still a great drone and is very stable in the air. Quality is still amazing for the first gen.
Awesome video!!! I just sold my Spark and bought a Mavic Air! It's lightly used from a camera store. It comes with a case and two batteries. Looking forward to it.
Just bought one this week. Looking forward to learning
Still flying mine for sure...it's tech is still mind blowing...even today.
Hello! Thank you for your quick reply. Its much appreciated. Problems I have with the MINI is not enough obstacle avoidance sensors and lack of active track. The Air fits my budget and it does all that I wont and need. Thanks again. Rock on rock on!!!
Wish someone would make a aftermarket battery..still a far better drone then most other companies top of the line drones
My Mavic air still works perfectly and I fly it multiple times a week. Lots of people seem to have signal issues with it, but the signal on mine works perfectly without and lag or signal breakup. I thought about upgrading to the air 2, but the camera on the air 1 is fine for my purposes, and if you get the master airscrew propellers it can fly for an extra couple of minutes and is a bit quiter. Perfect drone for now. Might upgrade when the air 3 comes out. Haven't had the compas calibration problems you have. Good video👍
What about the air 2s?
It’s perfect for UK use. It can be flown in the A1 Sun category if you have an A2 CofC. I love mine.
I just bought a Mavic Air and LOVE it. Got a refurbished fly more kit for 500.00, which I think is a great deal! The video quality is VERY good.
Where’d you find that deal?
@@MrScott-yk4kr You can find it on eBay, still the same price, or you can get it brand new on Amazon for $600 USD.
I have a new in box mavic air fly more combo for sale. It's $525
I'm still rocking this model in 2021! I'm in no need for the upgrade, yet.... The size and portability is what I need. Mini2 might have some features better, but overall still not enough to make me change my Mavic Air. Mini2 does come at 249g and longer flight time, but without the sensors... The best value for those who like to travel and film for themselves, imho!
SUPER SUPER GREAT!. Your efforts and time in this video is greatly appreciated . I'm late but always have been interested in flying drones. I have a couple that I've flown 2/3 times -nothing that qualifies me as good. Im thinking about getting the DJI Mavic Air Fly More Combo to get started seriously in learning to fly. Do the batteries eventually die to where they no longer can be charged? Thanks in advance. Rock rock on!!!
Thanks! The drone tech is improving so fast, if I were to make this video today I'd probably have a different conclusion. With that being said, I'm still using this mavic air. The batteries hold a charge still but they need to be warm. If they are even a little cold they will die immediately. Right now I'd recommend getting the mavic mini 2 instead of this mavic air.
Good afternoon so this drone is still valid in 2022, I have one despite being dissatisfied with the batteries the only defect for me. Success on your channel.
I agree. The batteries on mine started going bad shortly after making this video. For that reason I wouldn't recommend this drone anymore, since it's really hard to find new batteries. Other than that it's still pretty solid.
Still have mine , Great drone when camping.
Amazing video brother
The Air came packed with a whole lot of features but it came with a lot of issues. If your happy with your build you got lucky. (1) I was never able to get signal without lag at phone screen (2) Drone died after sitting for a couple months, IMU went (3) Noise was not an issue since drones were new to me but compared with newer drones that things buzzes. (4) Buying new batteries is very expensive (5) Finding parts to repair is also expensive. Unless your thinking of buying one at sub $300 I would suggest a Mini 2 if your on a budget. If you can spend some extra cash I would go with the Air 2 which you can find it used or refurbished for a little bit more then the original air.
I started having a lot of those issues about 6 months after filming this video. Now I have a mini 2 and it's awesome. I'd definitely recommend that now.
For me it's better to get a Mavic air instead of mini 1 or 2.
I believe that floating is coming from the controler try calibrating the sticks and make sure they are centered when calibrating, I did a video on this very problem, check it out on my page. Tip on exposure - hold the right button down and turn the gimble wheel will change the exposure on the fly, try it next flight. Good video love the area your in.
awesome thanks for the tips I didn't know that!
Didn't know that about exposure, and I have had the mavic air for a year and a half! Ima try this next time I go flying, thanks
I love my Mavic Air , now DJI doesn’t support it anymore, how do we update firmware of Mavic also update firmware of batteries Plz help
One of my battery only charged up to 3 green lights
beautiful place is it canada ? those lonely trees at the mountains they look like light pencil sketch
Great👍👍👍👌
Do i still find mavic air accessories? DJI doesn’t make them anymore
Mavic Air its such a great drone for the time, and still today. The big problem with this drone its the battery ...... there is a BIG problem with them, they " puff " .... all the batteries i had and have, eventually go puffy .... I do take care of them, the issue to me its a design or tech issue. They cant deal with heat. If you live in a warm area, and fly the drone in summer time, between the heat from the drone itself plus the ambient , the battery will go bad ..... and im tallking about arround 40 cycles. I had more the 12 batteries, they all did the same sooner or later. Not to mention DJI is not making this batt anymore, so if you find one, it will go for no less then 150 Uss each. I still have this drone, its the only one i have, if it wasn't for this big batt problem that DJI didnt took resposability of it, it would be one of the best portable drone ever. Really bad for DJI and for the Mavic Air owners like me. Very disappointing. You are lucky, looks like you live in a cooler area :)
Hii there ! What flight time do you get from a single battery after these many years of use ??
that's a good question. I still get the same amount of flight time as I did when it was new, about 20 minutes. The difference is that the batteries are very sensitive to the cold now. If it's like 45 degrees or colder I have to warm the battery up in my pocket for a while or else the flight time is basically zero.
I agree it's a great drone, but since DJI dropped it - they have also ceased to stop producing accessories, especially batteries... so how could it be worth it to buy a drone that you cannot fly? I bought the fly more combo - three batteries, and now only one of them work... so I have 14-15 minutes of flight time, cool down battery, then charge, then repeat... so, once that battery is dead, I have an expensive paper weight
Since I made the video my batteries have started to fail too. I didn’t realize they stopped producing batteries that sucks.
Did you gave up your Mavic Air already for 2022?
Which would be a better choice bcs i'm stuck. A mavic mini 2 or the og mavic air??
Back when I made this I think the mini 2 was just coming out so I didn't know much about it. Now I would say the mini 2 is definitely the better drone if small portability is your primary concern in a drone.
@@WildernessMindsetOkay, thanks it's because i'm gonna get one for christmas but thanks for your opinion!
I still use mavic air so yeach.
Mavic Air
460 dollar Mavic air refurb or 330 dollar Mavic mini refurb. both fly more combo
which one would u choose?
It depends what you'll be using them for. If it's just for fun go with the mini if you need a little more of a professional look I'd get the air. Both are pretty good prices.
@@WildernessMindset i am starting but want to do some professional stuff.
