WTF! I usually wear more layers, my issue has been the barbells are so frigging cold and would freeze my hands. Genuine question, in the interests of saving on English heating costs, how does the belt heat you up? Can I wear one at desk, how much movement do I need to do for it to work?!
It definitely can be a struggle, especially if your garage isn't insulated. This isn't the "be all end all" but it's super effective for being so simple!

That's a good idea ... Winter is not the best time to train if you have a homgym that is not heated
