Love my 5m strike 3 so far - I swapped back from the duotone Unit V3 hard handles and absolutely love it! Best flagging wing i've ever had. So comfy to ride and stable entering the water, walking up dodgy wind beaches in cross off winds etc. etc. The duotone wings would flip about 10 times before you've even waded out through the shorey! PLUS you don't need to be an origami specialist to pack them up either! ha ha No windows ands no battons is a dream.... Nice review man, I can tell you are pumped on it. I love the sideways give the handles allow - torqs the wrists alot less I find being a manual therapist but they still remain solid in the pump. Amazing refinement - superb job F-ONE
Had several hours on the 5m I have on demo. It’s a big change from the v2 and mostly for the good but the one area I think is a backwards step is the lack of low end for pumping, probably due to the flatter profile. For me I reckon it feels 0.5m less powerful than the v2. Disagree with comment “legendary strike grunt on the low end” made in this video. Otherwise agree with the review overall, especially for flag out stability.
Thanks for your feedback Shawn. I agree it doesn't feel as "grunty" on the low end pumping, but you do build speed and aparent wind more quickly so I was able to get up in the same low wind I would on the V2. Now, if you are riding a 40L board and small foil, you might miss that stump pulling lift but for people knee starting on appropriate low wind gear and decent technique, I'd say the low end ability is the same. - Tucker
@@MACkiteboarding I'd have to agree with Shaun on this one - swapped from a Unit 5m to the Strike 5m V3 on the water today and whilst the Unit is a lion for pumping onto foil the Strike v3 is a kitty cat. You pump until your lungs are hanging out and it just doesn't build speed like the Unit does in the same conditions. The Strike V2 was much better on the low end, I ran those all last year in 5.5, 4.5 and 3.5 and was quite happy with the low end, I would not buy a V3 based on what it showed to me today on the low end. Everything else in your review - yep, agree with that but they really dropped the ball on the low end pumpability. If F-One is your thing then I suspect a lot of people will switch to the coming Swing wing as that from what I hear is coming with more belly to the wing and a much better low end.
@@ashleydavis614 you can't have a perfect wing or foil. Always have to sacrifice something to have another. Just needs a bit better technique and skill /practice to get that low end. If you want something with more low end maybe the swing is your answer.. M
Hi Tucker, great review. Thanks for that. Could you go deeper on the new appropriate pumping technique? I’ve heard that the v3 likes to stall when pumped the traditional way. So what do you have to do to exploit the same low end like the v3? Thanks for your time!

hey Tucker - thanks for taking the time as ever to do these reviews - the best on the web! Q. Do you think this is THE best wing at the moment for flagging out, eg gliding or riding waves off the front handle, super stable, and light? If not, which other wing would compete with it you think?
Great question! For our sideshore/onshore conditions, Yes I'd say it's the best I've tried. If you have frequent offshore conditions I'd say there are a few more options which are faster/cleaner "into" the wind. But, not many locations offer those conditions. -Tucker
@@northyvids Cross off this wing would be great. If you get those howling offshores where you need to ride directly into the wind the North Mode and Ocean Rodeo Glide wings have less drag into the wind slowing you down. -Tucker
great review as always :) how would you compare this wing just for going fast on a lake for a 72kg rider? so no freestyle or waves over here. just free racing. Is it the best choice or better with a Nor Nova 2023 or COre XC =
This wing loves to go fast and the V3 is a big improvement over the V2 in that reguard. However, if you want true "Race speed" and upwind angles you might consider a North Mode or Ocean Rodeo Glide Aluula. -Tucker
One of the attributes of the V2 was that it was a forgiving wing. One that is good for the beginning intermediate. The V3 frame design sounds like it favors the expert.
I'd say the v3 favors beginners as well. You might want to size up 0.5m for an easier start but you gain it on the top end since it doesn't get overpowered as quickly as the V2. -Tucker
I'm 195lbs, and riding the 5m and 4m. The 5m has a range of roughly 15-30mph if you want to push it. For "techinical performance" like freestyle I'd say probably 18-24 mph. -Tucker

What size we're you riding on the Appletree Skipper there?
This is the 5'2, 75L Skipper. You want to size up on this board since it has a spoon bottom. -Tucker
