  • Aerial images show Hawaii's Mauna Loa, the world's largest active volcano, spewing lava and sending glowing streams across its surface.

The volcano is erupting for the first time since 1984, ending its longest quiet period in recorded history. Hawaii officials say the 2022 eruption does not pose any threat to property, though unpleasant volcanic gases and fine ash may drift downslope. Mauna Loa rises 13,679ft (4,169 meters) above the Pacific Ocean and dominates the Island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island.

Wow. Is this going to be a biggie? Mauna Loa sue dwarfs everything else in sheer scale. Those fountains must be at least 100 feet high!

Always wanted to be able to see one erupt from a safe distance. Of course I live in wa state surrounded by volcanoes and I definitely don't want to see any of those go off in my lifetime! But I would love to be able to get down to Hawaii and check that out!

The best thing about this KN episode was how diverse it was. You had a Mexican chef cooking Chinese food in an Italian restaurant.

Gee....what are the tree huggers going to do? That volcano is spewing a massive amount of acid leaving a huge carbon footprint. Maybe the volcanoe should have to pay a carbon tax to off set its natural occurence.

I'm surprised this has not been headlined "climate change disaster"...! And what are the chances of compensation from Hawaii for all the fallout...? because we in the UK are being blamed for the things we invented, but the rest of the world choose to use.!!!!!!!!
