Could be the wet clutch behind the primary, which is on the engine side.

So I have been having the same problem ever since my wheeler spend the night under the drain spout of my house and got showered for many hours. I have been thinking that maybe water got into the wet clutch. I popped the inspection cover and discovered that though the belt looked great it was covered with oil and I am sure the outer clutches are just sliding on the belt.

So what did the issue end up being? I have the exact same setup and pretty much exact same problems. Kinda sorta.

I eventually replaced the belt because I had the cover off again to replace the bearings in the transmission cover. Now it seems to be doing better. If it were the primary wet clutch slipping, an oil change with proper oil for that clutch could help with that also.

Your belt is worn out and stretched, and the clutches have glazed over.

@@jamescowans6637 I'm going to guess you put the clutch bearing in backwards. The dot/dimple faces out.
