I have a similar crack but is longer and is on the top of the head from the firing order numbers and travels close to the spark plug. Do i have to fix it? Or it doesn’t matter? Thanks
I have a factory Perkins Diesel in a CJ5 that is setup with an air compressor. Good engine. I have pulled the trigger on a Cummins 4BT for the welder CJ3B and it should be here late this year or early 2021. Working on the SM465 transmission and 18 transfer case now.

Always good to check everything on these old engines, you never know what you will find.
Very useful tips. I bought a engine like this last month and wish rebuild It soon as possible.

Yes it should be fixed or eventually you will start to loose coolant thru the crack.
