Nice! I might try that.
I made a downhaul tool from a wooden hammer handle, and use that to pull on the downhaul rope with a cow hitch. I'm still using my legs for force and keeping my back straight, but because the rope is in my hands (via the tool) I feel I can fine tune it more easily than by legs alone. It also means my harness can stay in my kit bag until I'm changed and ready to put it on (rigging/changing can get complicated enough depending on the parking situation!).
