  • ABOUT DENY CLOUTIER
Since the early 1980s, he has painted on community television. The pleasure of painting what the beauty of nature presents to us is at the heart of his passion.
In 1988, he held the largest solo opening in the world, a collection of 760 paintings. He managed to paint the smallest canvas that is, with an area of 6 mm x 6 mm, the dimensions of a coin of 10 cents.
From March 12 to 19, 1994, installed at the Galeries de la Capitale, in Quebec, he still beat his productivity record by making 1011 canvases of 20 by 24 inches, in 83 hours, sold on-site for the benefit of the Quebec section of the Society. Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
Since the early 1980s, he has also made himself known in Quebec and in several other Canadian provinces, notably through television to reveal the little secrets of his art.
For fifty years, Deny Cloutier has perfected an impressive technique for composing landscapes of striking realism and surprising beauty. With brush strokes, some two or even three inches wide, it reveals mountains, trees, plants, a peaceful lake or a tumultuous river, which it overlooks against a background of blue sky, which 'he can, according to his inspiration, cloud, sprinkle with thinning, flood with rain or whiten with snow. Plants appear here and there, around a house or in a rock garden, a boat is moored at the quay and birds fly over the landscape.
Surprisingly, each canvas has its own identity. He explains: "Like the poet who manages, through a juggling of words, to express feelings and themes that seem eternal, the painter takes pleasure in playing with colors and giving free rein to his imagination. Deny Cloutier finds an inexhaustible source of inspiration in nature.
This technique is his; it took 40 years to develop it. It fascinates many people who never tire of watching him paint in bursts for hours. he can paint several hundred very different landscapes without needing a model. Since his adolescence, he worked very hard to master this way of working and acquire great virtuosity. Deny has indeed surpassed the milestone of 40,000 paintings in his career and it is not finished, which makes him the most productive painter in the world.
