    Appreciate this video. This is exactly what’s going on in my house. It’s my first major plumbing fix in the house. So thank you for this! Going to tackle it tomorrow

    I love repair videos on older, lived in houses where you get the true feel of what you will go through instead of the tutorials on brand new faucets or whatever in a showroom.

      That is also a major reason why I like this channel.
      There is another reason that makes me like this channel, and it is the fact that these houses were often built decades before houses that were built where I have lived. I lived my whole life in the southern part of the USA, and few houses were built here before low cost central air conditioners were invented. As a result, almost every pipe I see is plastic or copper.
      This channel gets even more interesting when people can't replace all their iron sewer pipes and so Steve Lav has to do the best he can with what he has. I worked in the auto repair business, and there are plenty of instances when that happens. Usually the car belongs to some guy who got his girlfriend pregnant at the wrong time, and us car guys like sharing stories about that.

    You should be using Cool Gel on that stud. When you were attempting to unsolder that fitting the flame hit the stud and scorched it. I know of six families who were displaced from their homesdue to a fire that started that way by a careless technician in a condo facility. He finished working left not realizing that the wood was smoldering

    Curious what does a job like this cost because I have the same problem at a house on renting and the landlord is refusing to fix the issue I already had a plumber sent by them and said they have to break the wall to do it. So my question is how much would the labor, plus parts cost?

    Excellent fix steve, That shower was gone lol, im suprised that jubilees and rubber hose never burst, whats the typical cold/hot water pressures you have in your area steve ? , Thats the worst thing with the built in valves the access you need to replace ,

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  10 лет назад

      Kris Farquhar Plumbing n Heating this house had a well so the pressure was like 50 lbs thats pretty standard any pressure above 60 psi needs a reducing valve

  • @timrowe8123

    I notice, when you un-solder a fitting, i notice you always go back and hit the pipe with the heat again and wipe off the old solder. Is this necessary? Thanks...great videos

      Daniel Zamora lol Steve yea turn it off but for real Daniel there isn't much u can do to save money on a electric water heater besides putting a timer on it on off periods like none use hours I guess.

    • @stevenlavimoniere
