    Funny thing for me is this....I started singing when I was a HS student and I was totally against the whole idea itself. A couple years after I graduated, I started training my voice how to riff and it wasn't easy. I gradually learned how to do it throughout my 20s. I'm now in my mid 30s and I'm still trying to perfect them. I live in a small city and no other singers do it.

    Hi Thanks for the video. It would be helpful if you said what scale, pitches, or intervals you are playing. Are you simply playing the first five pitches of the major scale, that is: root, major 2nd, major 3, perfect 4th, and perfect 5th, which is the do-re-mi-fa-so? Starting where? Thanks.

    • @melimusiclessons
      @melimusiclessons  6 лет назад +2

      Christian Lee Trager hi !
      Thanks for your inquiry . I go through all 24 scales starting usually on A.
      So if A ( major ) is the root , im doing:
      A-B-C#C#-D-EE-D-C#C#-B-AA . So yes playing the first five notes of the scale.
      Hopefully that works !

    When I’m doing the oh oh oh and I get to the high parts should my voice be lifting or should it be staying the same tone but higher if you know what I’m saying? I find what I’m trying to get to the higher notes doing that exercise. My voice automatically wants to lift to head level if that makes sense.

    Is it important to stay in chest voice when reaching the higher notes?
    I go into my head voice but I’m not sure if that’s as effective at achieving a higher register.

    • @melimusiclessons
      @melimusiclessons  5 лет назад

      Serena Prendergast the wonderful thing about our vocal chords and our registers is you can actually use both, chest and head voice. It depends on the sound you wanna go for. If you want to belt more then you use your mix voice ( combination of chest and head )

      The first riff starts on 2. From a major scale 2-1-2-3-4-3-2. Singing over a chord it would be a minor riff if you make the 2 the root note. Right?
