Thank you Gen Puri and Kashi Manthan for bringing the history of Kargil war back to life. That the Indian army fought back and won despite the massive intelligence failure shows why they deserve all the respect. 🙏
The issue was not of intelligence failure. There was ample intelligence regarding intrusion and battle plan. There was failure of some generals in reading the situation. The top leadership of army failed the nation.
Very insightful interview. The difference between handling insurance and conventional warfare very well explained. Pakistani troops had occupied strategic heights during the war, several of our soldiers were actually shot in their eyes and heads of this. We suffered disproportionate casualties. Maybe IAF should had been brought into the picture right from the outset. Capt. Batra was a brave heart and a poster boy of Kargil War just like Arun Khetrawal was the face of 1971, Abdul Hamid, 1965, Shaitan Singh 1962. That said Batra’s interview with Barkha Dutt did made him a household name in his lifetime.
Mayank Very nice interview...rural people are not cowards...media reports, great effort by indian Army, first Step is difficult and once you taste success then it's all very easy, ये गोली मुझे भी लग सकती है, salutation to the Valour and bravery of our army
Whilst Gen puri convincgly says Lots of new equipment is being inducted the troops in Kashmir and Jammu are still without new generation rifles , carbines , Lmgs , night and day scopes long range NV gen 4 , new generation 6 bullet proof helmets and jackets , combat gear uniforms shoes and anti IED and bullet proof Vehicles .
