That kind of attitude doesn't exude confidence; it screams insecurity, as if they’re trying too hard to overcompensate with their obnoxiousness.
For me it is also about her looks. I unlike most of you can actually admit that I like looking at attractive women. I don't care if she is based on a real person and if the model looks like the person then she is unattractive to me.
@@havingfun-u4g Yeah, same here, and that's perfectly ok. I'm totally against the way they're uglifying female characters. She's based on a real person, but I bet they intentionally made her look even worse.
Gaslighting is everything you can get from them. I don't feel any shame when I say that I like beautiful women in skimpy outfits, but what I want from the industry, are attractive video game characters of any gender and skin color, wearing cool outfits. And attractive trees, buildings, spaceships, gameplay, stories, ... Do I want to make trees look bangeable? Nope. One reason why we are calling out ugly female characters a lot, is the fact that they aren't uglifying and censoring men. And because there aren't artistic decisions behind it, but political ones.
I mean I don’t mind playing as a lesbian, I just don’t want to play as an angry man hating sociopath, one that hates on all of her male counterparts saying I’m right all the time your stupid for even thinking wrong. But I also believe that’s just part of BEING A NORMAL PERSON in not liking such a character
"Both men and woman should be attractive in a game" EXACTLY! This is EXACTLY right. Men and woman should both be attractive in games. And in films and TV. That's the entire point. Its more important in games though; gamers want to see the ideal form, both male and female. Games are supposed to a form of escapism. We don't want to be represented by someone that looks mid or generic but the ideal form. As for the Intergalactic character... Looking it over, she's not THAT bad looking. But the bald head looks awful and is incredibly distracting. And yes the smugness is also a big problem. "Do we know?" Yes, its called pattern recognition.

Remember you're only allowed to be cautiously optimistic to INCREDIBLY HYPED about first impressions which amount to a cinematic trailer with no gameplay. If you have a negative impression you must "wait to judge."
I can't stand that double standard either. If a trailer alone is enough to make you happy, then it's enough to make you unhappy. It can't be positive opinions only, either both positive and negative are equally valid or neither are. I have the same problem with how you can say you love a game and that's it there, no further challenges ever. But if you criticize it, you have to have beaten the whole game, understand what it was trying to do, and on and on. Critical takes ALWAYS need more validation than positive ones, and that is wrong.
"Twitter doesn't represent the gaming community. This will be a major hit", did they already forgot about Sony's Concord? Oh my bad, positive vibes only, we should never talk about that depressing Concord anymore.
@@Rai2M Because both sides are a small minority. I'm part of a small minority, BUT, the people who will be naturally disgusted by the game's protagonist are the majority. You need to be deep into the indoctrination rabbit hole in order to spend money on something like that. Mainstream media shilling can only go so far, it didn't work for Concord.
@@Rai2M Take a lane regard. It's either a loud minority, that shouldn't be able to tank entire game studios, or it's the majority and the toxic positivity in game studios for the message has completely lost the plot and connection to their audience. It can't be both.
There was a study done years ago with young boys and girls playing with action figures. The boys would try to become the character. The girls tried to force the character to turn into them. Not saying women aren't capable of creating compelling characters. When these activists who believe that they're already perfect, but they're still miserable people, these are the kinds of boring characters you get.
Very interesting! Can you by any chance point to this study? I'm not doubting you or anything, this is actually consistent with my own observations. It's just that, aside from wanting to read more about it myself, having something concrete I could actually point to would be really useful for discussing this with others who I've debated this personal theory with.
It’s fatigue. If this game were coming out 10-15 years ago, there may have been some interest. But after seeing the types of games with these types of designs over the years, people aren’t as willing to give this a chance.
It reminded me of the Saints Row Reboot trailer, with the Saints Boss looking right at the camera in a smug way that oozes pure hatred towards anyone that cared about the franchise.
I had no idea what this was about and honestly thought the character in the character was a somewhat attractive looking shaved asian guy, I am a little embarrassed to admit it took about 5 minutes for me to realize it was supposed to be a woman.
What these woke leftist types don't understand, is that you can learn to spot common "warning signs" in games and media in general, like frogs with blue backs properly are poisonous, and would suck to eat. The moment you see something fit into the woke ideological mindset, you just know the quality of the game will reflect it's developers priorities, which was never the goal to just make a awesome game, but to lecture us about their religion/cult like ideology.
What battles me is this basically screams something guys would love laser swords, '80s future Tech aesthetic, bounty hunting, chasing and looking for contracts across stars but then they have to just put a protagonist who obviously doesn't fit for the games demographic if not the game itself because they're trying to get better ESG and DEI scores and after The Last of Us 2 and the choices that made that game so divisive I don't have much hope for this game.
I don't feel identified by that character. And leftists have told me for the last 5+ years that feeling identified with the characters it's the most important thing in media. There. Simplest answer.
One thing that no one seems to be focused on is that the hacks at ND have ripped off the bar scene in Akira shot for shot, there is nothing original about this game.
The idea that you would put balding bubba who is missing teeth as your lead character in a game would only work for a joke. People want at least middling to attractive characters in their art. Whether it be games or movies.
This is my personal thought of this trailer: compare the reaction of this trailer to the trailers of OKAMI 2, and the trailer of the new game form the ICO CREATORS. That alone should show everyone how DONE everyone is with this DEI WOKE CRAP….
And to Blabs at 10:20, this is a teaser, literally what the market team and studio have chosen to create interest over the game. If they want to us to be intrigued by her having to deal with a big screw up by her own smugness, they should tease that. Instead of it, her attitude is what should make her appealing. If that didn't work, the audience is not to blame.
Sold my PS5 after the disaster of Concord, and that being their huge "ace" of the fall. Their tone-deaf, customer hating activism is just so off-putting.
I’m still sad that Microsoft ruined halo, gears, and forza. If it weren’t for those I’d have purchased a Ps5. Now both console owners are butthurt. Everyone wins 😂
@weirdtower229 What exactly was the point of selling your PS5? I dont get how that effects anyone but you who now doesnt have a PS5. I mean Sony already got your money and im sure you didnt sell it for more than you paid. Idk what you are trying to prove by this.
You can get strong naturally but it takes decades. My brother was in the Marines, he did not take roids and could lift about 400+ lbs. His friend did take roids and did 600 lbs.
It isn't that she's ugly, it's that she's CLEARLY representing an ideology that the customer does not, and they're just gaslighting over it. That trailer oozes with 'The Message' and everyone sees it, except those who are being willfully obtuse or dishonest.
"Instantly Muting"... Translation: I know what I said is really stupid. All of the morons trashing Asmongold have done the same thing - make a terrible tweet and then reply "muting this". These people are insanely stupid.
They say the game is based on 90's anime but yet they failed that in not having some wild hair for the character small thing sure but adds to the problem
It’s like Asmongold mentioned once. It’s patterns. Pattern recognition: we see certain patterns that lead to games we do not want to play. It’s no guarantee, but certain patterns lead to other patterns that put up our red flags 🚩
@Rai2 Most streamers represent average, normal people. You make it sound like they’re problematic for being the voice of the group of people they not only represent, but are also part of.
@@felldoh9271 That’s why I follow streamers. watched what happened to the media since the 70’s and would rather have fellow games give some honest opinions any day.
cuz they’re jealous and the woke ideology is their last ditch effort to stick it to anyone they don’t like because most don’t agree with them politically. It’s the death throes of the counter culture.
Even if you put gender and attractive/not attractive aside, a bounty hunter shouldn't look like a soft kid who works in a call center or a record store.
Ask the comment section or any random person with drawing skills to concept art a badass female space bounty hunter. I guarantee we would get infinitely better than this multi-million dollar company shittiness of a female space bounty hunter 100%!
They got lucky with outrage marketing by changing the gender or race of a main character a few times and these companies still think it works, but this sort of thing is a strong indicator that other parts of the game will also be terrible
It’s not gonna work this time for one particular reason. One reason why Last of Us Part 2 got success was because it had an established fanbase with Part 1. And that’s a luxury Intergalactic doesn’t have.
For me, its actually not sexy vs non sexy. Its the fact the character design screams the politics of the game. Samus is attractive but you don't see that unless you beat the game usually, with a few exceptions. If she was ugly but nothing else changed, I would still play Metroid. But if there was a modern Metroid released and she looked like the protag in this game, I wouldn't play because this day an age a character design like that comes with; pronouns, lectures, devs that insult the audience, and all the other current year crap they can think of. Like okay, maybe her character isn't a insufferable cow when you actually play the game. But she is wearing the uniform of an insufferable cow. She is being developed by insufferable cows. I'm certain she will be an insufferable cow.
The weird thing is the take that Asmon doesn't say male characters should be hot as well, he literally does... all the time, it's not a double standard, it's literally a single standard that people pretend half doesn't exist.
Also, I think blabs is missing the point a little bit. The characters appearance is part of it because the wokists make it a priority. She’s intentionally ugly for a reason. It’s not coincidental. And also, even female gamers like playing as conventionally attractive characters. No one is asking for her to look like a corn star, but when the character looks as ugly as sin AND happens to have a dislikable personality as well, then no one will want to play the game simply because they aren’t into the main character. That’s true with any game.
For an industry that always talks about diversity they seem to keep making the same bland one dimensional female protagonist that i wouldn't want to share a five minute cab ride with let alone 40-60- hours of gameplay.
It isn't that she's bald. Go back to Mass Effect 2 and take a look at Jack. A lot of people really liked Jack (I didn't, but not because of how she looked). Jack was bald and very, very popular with players. Just do a side-by-side with Jack and this character.
Yep, i was one of the “i like Jack” crowd 😂 Complex character that showed a lot of growth, and the voice actress did a great job imo. AND ofc she was very attractive, even when bald.
I did do a side by side comparison just now. The difference here is that Jack follows that grunge punk look. But she is still gorgeous with a smoken body. How much do you want to bet that this chick in intergalactic is a stick figure that looks like a teenage boy.
They saved this game for last too like it was gonna be the next big thing in gaming 😂 it flopped before it even comes out how hard is it to add a character creater
Imagine you go to McDonald's and ask for no tomato and no pickles but they tell you that you can't have no pickles or tomato because well they like those things so you have to like them too. Sure with food you can just take out what you don't like but the point is they are telling you what you have to like.
Do people really not understand that the character in question is Neil Druckman's fetish? It has nothing to do with gamers or gaming. Neil is just creating his fetish characters. Just move on.
They held conferences, panels, and appeared on major news networks to talk about female characters. But as soon as the "others" start to push back, suddenly it's an issue. Again, most people don't care about a female lead. But we all know the smug face that bald woman pulled. The lead in Star Wars Outlaws was obnoxious and annoying - add to that a "forced cute pet".
First comix. Then movies. Now games. Social engineering in pop culture is not new. Trends are meant to push society in a direction. The more you see/hear the more you believe.
this is whats known as "strawmanning" create a false argument that NO ONE is making that is easy to defeat, then defeat it, and claim victory against all arguments that people actually ARE making.
The teaser trailer is supposed to provide a hook and make the viewer interested in seeing more. I am not interested in seeing any more. The teaser has failed.
@@michaelmaroney1660 as far as stories go it seems fine to me, it's just an overall plot, nothing to write home about but I wouldn't be surprised if they shoehorned in politics or continued to follow saggy tropes like "evil white man".
We don’t wait to judge on gameplay because at this point everyone can see the signs. All of these mediocre boring games that only care about social politics have the same red flags in their reveal trailers.
People need to understand. It's not that she's unattractive. It's the fact that 2 of the 4 minutes of trailer we got, focused on her BEING unnactractive. Her shaving her head, having trash personality and showing up in a tank top. It's meticulously designed to get a reaction but... they complain they got a reaction? Naughty Dog is grifting at this point
You guys need to watch Angry Joe's BS take on his latest videos about this. They rant for 10-20 minutes combined on both videos about people wanting to fap to video game characters. Angry Joes and Alex don't put many neurons into topics they disagree about. AJ said himself if he could he would love to rid the people that don't think the way they do.
The problem is not just that the character is bald. It's continuously making female characters ugly and masculine in TV, films, books, comics and games to the point that it's completely beyond the realms of possibility. There are so many boss chick characters that it's simply impossible to believe in any more. "When everyone is super, no one will be". -Syndrome.
I’m just tired of game companies catering ONLY to a specific demographic. It’s hard for me to get into a game if I can’t relate in any way to the main character. The problem is the FORCED agenda on gamers. These smug developers force their own agendas instead of making something most people can truly enjoy.

@@henshin587 They did. The actress may not be a bombshell, but she's definitely better than that.
Guys we don't want naughty dog to pick a male protagonist. He would just get the golf club treatment in intergalactic 2.
Gamers mostly want to play an (anti)hero not a space Karen.
"Both men and woman should be attractive in a game"
EXACTLY!
"Do we know?"
Yes, its called pattern recognition.
She looks like a dude, Neil definitely has a type 😅
@@JaidynReiman even women feel that way. Ever see a frumpy dude on the cover of a romance novel? No, it’s usually Fabio, so it irks me when these people think it’s about the male fantasy.
to the pronouns in bio guy, imagine every game had a fat short ugly bald nerd as the main character who acts tough and thinks he is cool but he is actually looks and sound cringe but all the characters have to pretend he is so tough and cool, like the new batman cartoon that everyone pretends she cobblepot is not super ugly but charming.
Imagine being a grown man who makes the conscious decision to put pronouns in hid bio ahahaha
@@hardboiled2987 "man"
You mean the majority of the people who are complaining about "ugly" female characters?
Did you ever see the Jessica Jones marvel show on netflix? That show feels the same way with everyone talking about how hot she is. Like if you wanted me to think the character is hot you should have picked a hot actress. lol
@@fenrir6200 if this is the case how come none of them demand that characters in games look like them but ugly feminists do and we must listen them so we get a crub of their stinky beaver? No thanks.
Remember you're only allowed to be cautiously optimistic to INCREDIBLY HYPED about first impressions which amount to a cinematic trailer with no gameplay. If you have a negative impression you must "wait to judge."
Lol the fence sitter motto.
So says Asmongold. Like "oh, it's a small but vocal minority on twitter". I mean why do you use the same argument?
@@Rai2M Maybe because it's not a small minority? Also, not just on twitter? Idk.. Look at the numbers..
That study demonstrated too much of what nobody on either 'side' wants to talk about when it comes to the differences in male and female psychology.
@@Marcara081 i hate the "just write it well" crowd, it's not just how, the what can or can't resonate with the human experience
@denkerbosu I don’t understand your point can you please explain?
Very interesting! Can you by any chance point to this study? I'm not doubting you or anything, this is actually consistent with my own observations. It's just that, aside from wanting to read more about it myself, having something concrete I could actually point to would be really useful for discussing this with others who I've debated this personal theory with.
@ if I recall correctly, I read about it in one of Jonathan Haidt’s books. It might have been, “The Coddling of the American Mind”
This reeducation has been brought to you by Porsche, Adidas, and Sony. Throw in Coke and McD's, and we'll finally achieve Mac and Me.
It’s fatigue. If this game were coming out 10-15 years ago, there may have been some interest. But after seeing the types of games with these types of designs over the years, people aren’t as willing to give this a chance.
the red flags are 100% justified in this day
And that teaser almost had all the red flags .. all that was left is to flash her character bio on the screen with her pronouns "she/them" 😅
It reminded me of the Saints Row Reboot trailer, with the Saints Boss looking right at the camera in a smug way that oozes pure hatred towards anyone that cared about the franchise.
Yup and it end up killing the studio, what a way to go out.
@@sacredpower7530 hatred is *our* shield, spite is *our* armor
I had no idea what this was about and honestly thought the character in the character was a somewhat attractive looking shaved asian guy, I am a little embarrassed to admit it took about 5 minutes for me to realize it was supposed to be a woman.
I thought it was a Riddick game.
"We, sir--"
"I'm a woman..."
@@JaidynReimanI thought it was a Fast & Furious cinematic.
We have devolved from the bald space marine to the smug bald lesbian.
The duality of sci-fi. Gae or cool.
I hated the bald space marine too. I guess I'm unlucky with western entertainment .
That Intergalactic MC looks like Gollum took botox and a facelift
10:21 I don't think we've lost the plot. Bad character designs put off people, that includes racially ambiguous bald smug female characters.
is this what the kids are calling The Last Avatar?
I saw a comment on another video refer to it as the last transgender. Very apt😂
These were the lost years of Ang's life between when Avatar ended and Korra began.
I don't feel identified by that character.
And leftists have told me for the last 5+ years that feeling identified with the characters it's the most important thing in media.
There. Simplest answer.
I want to play as Danny Devito, rare Camelot L
She looks like Will Smiths Husband.
One thing that no one seems to be focused on is that the hacks at ND have ripped off the bar scene in Akira shot for shot, there is nothing original about this game.
2:30 that's because it wasn't John... it was Neil.. the guy who signs the paychecks.
Easy solve: let players play as who they want to play as.
.... So, Zendaya is now the feminine ideal? Ha ha ha.
Do you know how smugness can be endearing? When the character is atractive, a smug fugly is a reddit fedora atheist
Asmon is totally right - everyone knows it and therefore some hate him.
RIP Naughty Dog 1984-2020.
Sold my PS5 after the disaster of Concord, and that being their huge "ace" of the fall. Their tone-deaf, customer hating activism is just so off-putting.
Lol
Im keeping my PS5 cause theres alot of awesome gacha games coming out aside from the western garbo
Sony themselves said that Concord was the future of Sony and if we are to believe that bald ahh lie. Then Sony's future don't look too bright.
Asmon is spot on.
8:11 the too cool for school face is abhorrent
so are those push broom eyebrows
"Instantly Muting"... Translation: I know what I said is really stupid.
All of the morons trashing Asmongold have done the same thing - make a terrible tweet and then reply "muting this". These people are insanely stupid.
She’s using the razor wrong
The people who always use the argument about us wanting to have smex with a fictional attractive female character. In my opinion, are projecting.
Problem is that they chose this trailer during gamer gate. Message is clear.
No. The "content creators" tell you what to think. Really. They are the next generation of "game journalists" and do exactly the same thing.

Why do western game devs hate decent looking women?
cuz they’re jealous and the woke ideology is their last ditch effort to stick it to anyone they don’t like because most don’t agree with them politically. It’s the death throes of the counter culture.
Even if you put gender and attractive/not attractive aside, a bounty hunter shouldn't look like a soft kid who works in a call center or a record store.
The overestimation or underestimation of expertise on a subject is called the dunning-kruger effect.
Ask the comment section or any random person with drawing skills to concept art a badass female space bounty hunter. I guarantee we would get infinitely better than this multi-million dollar company shittiness of a female space bounty hunter 100%!
Why are these 2 guys wearing sunglasses indoors? Asking the real questions here...
They got lucky with outrage marketing by changing the gender or race of a main character a few times and these companies still think it works, but this sort of thing is a strong indicator that other parts of the game will also be terrible
Lesbians.....in......SPAAAAAAACE!!
It’s not gonna work this time for one particular reason.
One reason why Last of Us Part 2 got success was because it had an established fanbase with Part 1. And that’s a luxury Intergalactic doesn’t have.

What was the last smash hit game that featured a realistic mid or ugly guy as the MC?
Exactly
The weird thing is the take that Asmon doesn't say male characters should be hot as well, he literally does... all the time, it's not a double standard, it's literally a single standard that people pretend half doesn't exist.
Oh Trent... Why oh why
The game awards now is like a really uptight, strict Dad. But 20 years ago Dad was wildin' with booth babes and jiggle physics
I feel so sorry for the actress (no not the voice actress) as this is an example of uglyfying an actress who looks great
For an industry that always talks about diversity they seem to keep making the same bland one dimensional female protagonist that i wouldn't want to share a five minute cab ride with let alone 40-60- hours of gameplay.
What I want to know is where did she buy that drink from. Quick stop at burgerking on the Orions belt?
It isn't that she's bald. Go back to Mass Effect 2 and take a look at Jack. A lot of people really liked Jack (I didn't, but not because of how she looked). Jack was bald and very, very popular with players. Just do a side-by-side with Jack and this character.
Jack still looked like a woman not a dude mid transition, not to mention she had a peculiar taste in "clothes" 😅
Yep, i was one of the “i like Jack” crowd 😂
Complex character that showed a lot of growth, and the voice actress did a great job imo.
Watching various companies and their products go woke and collapse has become one of my favorite forms of entertainment

Do people really not understand that the character in question is Neil Druckman's fetish? It has nothing to do with gamers or gaming. Neil is just creating his fetish characters. Just move on.
instead of letting people know what the game is about they tell you who you are going to play as
They held conferences, panels, and appeared on major news networks to talk about female characters. But as soon as the "others" start to push back, suddenly it's an issue.
Again, most people don't care about a female lead. But we all know the smug face that bald woman pulled. The lead in Star Wars Outlaws was obnoxious and annoying - add to that a "forced cute pet".

We don’t wait to judge on gameplay because at this point everyone can see the signs. All of these mediocre boring games that only care about social politics have the same red flags in their reveal trailers.
Ugly art has no power anymore.
Angry Joes and Alex don't put many neurons into topics they disagree about. AJ said himself if he could he would love to rid the people that don't think the way they do.
The problem is not just that the character is bald. It's continuously making female characters ugly and masculine in TV, films, books, comics and games to the point that it's completely beyond the realms of possibility. There are so many boss chick characters that it's simply impossible to believe in any more.

I’m just tired of game companies catering ONLY to a specific demographic. It’s hard for me to get into a game if I can’t relate in any way to the main character. The problem is the FORCED agenda on gamers. These smug developers force their own agendas instead of making something most people can truly enjoy.
