For the leaking dinghy issue I would install a low pressure air gauge and inlet valve so that you can monitor the air pressure in the tubes and pump it up anytime it starts going too low to keep the water from making it into there in the first place. Even 1 or 2 psi would keep the water out so it wouldn't be hard to maintain that pressure.
Seasons greetings, safe journeys and better health . Thank you for showing us what you have done and achieved,Brupeg has become a floating school for many of us to see how things are done and how to make things happen with a limited Budget. All the best ,Cheers from NZ
I wonder if fuel tank sealer would help to plug any holes in the dinghy... You could possibly even pressurize the dinghy when you add the sealer to try and push it through any of the pinholes... might not be worth the effort tho! Best of luck
G'day Crew , Some cool upgrades for BRUPEG, should make the stabilisers easier to use. Looking forward to you travelling through the Great Barrier Reef, personally I think it's the most beautiful part of our planet , definitely the jewel in Australia's crown . Enjoy your Christmas and tt y to stay safe ( Damo) Respect...!
There is a liquid sealant product that you can put inside dirtbike tyres which sloshes around inside the tube and autoseals any leaks. Maybe try that on your dinghy. Could also try coating the whole bottom in some latex rubber, like icing a giant donut.
Merry, merry guys! Thanks for all the great episodes throughout the last year. Can’t wait to see what the future holds. BTW… Why no anti foul on the dingy? 🇨🇦
I posted this last week: Have a word with an industrial heating engineer, they make preformed elbows for steam heating pipes in plant rooms, you wrap insulation around the pipes, then there's a thin aluminium (like tin) preform that goes over the top, it looks really neat
It's good stuff (if a little fiddly to fit and get looking good) but it doesn't stand up well to abuse. It also increases the diameter of pipes by an incredible amount. In this case, a 2" pipe with lagging would become a 6" pipe effectively and it would take up far too much space in a small engine room. Also very fiddly if you ever need to remove it for any reason as it's generally riveted together.
Remember the 13000lb rating is on the bottom lye of rope , also dynyma rope is uv sensitive (it will degrade and weakenwith age)red is the most sensitive???
A wonderful technique we have been using for 30 years to rapidly heal kitchen burns, is keeping a container of powdered vitamin C in a kitchen cabinet. On burning some skin, first irrigate with cold water, then sprinkle some powdered Vit C onto the wet skin. The C will form a sort of poultice. Pain relief is virtually immediate, and healing/ reducing severity of the burn measure in hours not days/weeks.
is your plan to leave the new beautiful winches exposed on the roof? Seems like they'd fair better in the engine room with only the cable heading to the roof pulley through a tube.
A thought on the dingy issue, in the construction industry they use a bright green fluorescent power mixed with water, Fluorescein (non toxic) for tracing leaking drains. Was wondering if you mixed-up a little and introduced it to the tube whether it would help you trace the leak. You only need a tiny amount, it goes a long way.
Hi Guys' One way to find your leak in the dingy is to clean it spotlessly, then fill the chambers with "Red" engine coolant and the apply air pressure and leave for a while ( overnight ). The red coolant will leave a crystaline trace when it leaks. I am sure you will find your "air/wate" leak. Let us know if you try this. Stuart for Melbourne.
I was wondering... Have you considered getting your kitty cat a moggie companion? I know she gets tons of love and attention, but in my experience a solo cat can find life lonely at times. It can lead to moodiness and what we'd see as 'depression'. A boat-bound cat doesn't have the freedom to wander and explore a neighbourhood, and might be more relaxed with a (female) feline friend to swap nautical tales with. Well, it was just a suggestion. I know your cat has a wonderful life; I can't be the only Brupeg viewer who envies her!😁
Can't you find where it's leaking by putting pressure on it with air and using soapy water? Merry Christmas to you and your family. Best regards from Bergen, Norway
A winch is designed to winch , what or how you winch is irrelevant as long as you don’t exceed the rating of the said winch. You could argue they are recovering their wings from the ocean. Winches on car trailers and tow trucks are of the exact same design.
a recovery winch is rated for a rolling or horizontal load , a lifting winch is rated for a vertical load with a system that will hold the load x a safety factor , also i think you will find that lifting winches are lower geared than recovery ones and are mostly of a design that the braking is done by the gearing rather than a braking system .
@ scrap the word recovery and start again , horizontal or rolling is also irrelevant. Winches and winching are all load rated tasks and these particular winches, which I also use myself over many years , are well equipped and designed to achieve Brupegs wing recovery purposes with more than enough grunt to suit.
Also winches can be rotated. These winches get mounted so the load is pulling as they are designed to be mounted on a 4wd bumper. We looked at lifting winches but there were very few options and what was available was not capable of salt environment. These are plus the ratchet brake is exactly what we want and the reason we choose these winches over all else
It’s been really clear on the channel we are a married couple. This is a weird comment. Why would you even say this to somebody, do you have any idea how this lands for the female. Not respectful at all.

Perhaps the pressurized air will reveal the leak anyway!
Looking good. Merry Christmas dudes.

Merry Christmas and a wonderful, eventful new year.
Have a great Christmas and all the very best for 2025!
I was thinking more of a Damien shaped whitebait fritter.
Merry Christmas our favourite Kiwakians.
Merry Christmas you two. A very progressive year it has been. Hope you both are feeling better for the holidays, see you next year :)
Such a great update. Merry Christmas
Big year for you guys so well done, to you both, Duncan etc have a merry Xmas and take care

Great you both are feeling better.
Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year. 👍👍
Lovely update. Merry Christmas all

Woohoo!🎉 Onward through the fog 😊

Thursday Is has very strong currents when diving.

Ha! That’s awesome. Thanks for the tip
Luv u guys and a big marine uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Your bungs might be leaking, try putting plumbers tape and I even put silcone grease on the ruber seals also.
You may want to find some Aluma-Brite to clean the dingy. It's an acid that takes almost anything off bare aluminium clean enough to weld on.
Prob added 15 knots to the dingy cleaning it and draining 300kg off water lol
Hola deseo tengan una Feliz Navidad y un buen año nuevo. Saludos desde Asturias España ❤❤❤
Saludos y gracias

Paint it.
And put a pump or two inside the tubes.
I would put some dye in the tinny then you might be able to see where it's leaking from

Yeah that’s a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion
Maybe paint some antifoul on the dinghy bottom?

Ha! What a great tip, thanks
Indonesian project sounds really exciting
Along with the proposed davit, you need a Highfield center console doggy!
I got the same crud the USA. Dont feel so alone now
possible solution for the dingy leaks. take epoxy paint andcoat inside of pontoons ;-}
merry christmas ;-) ;-)

is there any type of anti-foul that works on aluminum?

OMG Jess thought you had huge chest hair for a mo!!!! Fuzzy Mic for the Lolzs!

You should sound insulate the entire engine room. Most yachts have fully insulated engine rooms.
We plan to but it’s many thousands of dollars to do that
Will Birk be joining the crew again?🤔
1 Ton = 907.185kg. 1 Tonne = 1000kg
Hola poner un poco de presión de aire y pulverizar con agua y jabón encontrar los posibles poros ❤
We did this when we built it but couldn’t track the last leak down
Can you put anti-foul on the dinghy?
Do either of you have your Captains License? All the best for 2025. Yee Haw!
anti-foul paint?

6 tons = 6000 kgs, easy peasy ;)
Wrong. Look it up!
first like and comment 😛
1 ton = 1000 KG
Not bad. 👍

Damien, I thought Jess was your mother. I've been watching for years. Just now realized.

Good for you Damien , beat me to it
