Unibody C10??? Tesla Swapped Squarebody - Electric C10 Ep. 6

- Опубликовано: 13 июл 2021
- This week we're fabricating our unibody C10 cab for our twin Tesla motor truck! Welding the cab directly onto the chassis will give us more rigidity and road feel for our EV squarebody, which will help this truck's handling and performance on the track! We're also doing some bead-rolled sheet metal work to make the interior look sharp too! While we're stiffening up the cab of this truck, we're also making sure our C10 bed isn't going to be flopping around in the breeze by welding up some sturdy mounts directly to the chassis. We're using lasers to make sure that our bed is level with the body of our truck and then cutting and welding in supports to make sure that it doesn't go anywhere while we're pushing this truck to the limits! These steps are so important to our build because we don't just want this truck to look cool, we want to make sure it's structurally sound when putting down the power from our two Tesla Model S motors!

Leave the floor flat and do a bench seat (it is an old truck after all).
He is going to track it. So I bet he does bucket seats. A bench seat would be cooler tho
Gotta keep it flat! Leg room for days! Definitely need bucket seats for the track though.
We'd love to do a bench like we did in our F100 build, but this thing has got to have buckets for the track!
@@SalvagetoSavage do 3 bucket seats across
3 racing seats with oh shit grab bars close by.
Leave it flat. But don't forget about some storage. Or use newer gen seats. Run a power rear window! Like a tundra
Agree
No transmission tunnel but add a central division which has like Tesla Central console and all
Agree
Don't do a transmission tunnel. That's the first thing that's going to stand out and make it unique.
Agree
Guys, I'm impressed by your work, the fabrication, mechanic, engineering, and creation of the content, the editing, recording, all that, is amazing
Thank you so much! We're stoked that you're loving the videos!
Glad so many people are on board with this build and not too many haters complaining. I can't wait to see it finished.
Haters or no haters, this truck is getting built! Glad to know we got your support too!
Definitly no tunnel. Just a deviding consol as others have said. Let it show the benefits of electric.
Agree
Flat as a pancake, gives you all the room you need in a single cab. Amazing build guys.
Leave flat for sure. I love the open space of the square buddies. The tunnel will make it feel closed in.
Flat floor for sure it will go good with the old and new mix I think!
Tunnel it for wire/computer.etc. Gives the classic look
Ah my favorite part of the week, everytime you guys drop a new video on this animal. I Freaking love this build
Love to hear it! Thanks for coming back!
This Chanel needs to blow the eff up, your quality of work + the super quality/ edited videos are up there with the best of them.
These guys clearly demonstrate there is more than 1 way to get the job done.
There's more than one way to skin a C10 squarebody lol! Thanks for checking out the video!
Keep it flat, I’ve been wanting to do a front wheel drive conversion on my 70 C10 using a Toronado or eldorado of that time to honor my late fathers idea of putting the drive where the weight is and I’ve always pictured it with 3 bucket seats and a flat floor like dads 1972 toronado. The plus is your best girl can sit comfortably next to you and a friend can ride shotgun.
No Tunnel with an awesome console... easy my favorite youtube build, hope to see it on SEMA 2021..
If you’re trying out new, you might as well try out having no trans tunnel.
Heck yes guys. Been waiting for this all week. Yall are blowing up congrats and keep the great content coming.
Thanks! We're stoked that you keep coming back. We're just trying to put out content that gets people stoked about building cars!
@@SalvagetoSavage heck freaking yeah brothers. We went back and binged all the videos. Love that mentality. Thats what it is all about.
make a center console just for storage
gotta have cup holders too lol
I only recently found this channel, but it is quickly becoming one of my most looked forward to. Really solid filming, editing, commentary, and awesome in depth projects.
Thanks for the feedback! We're stoked that you like our work. We got new episodes coming out every Wednesday!
square the transmission hump and make short storage compartments. hidden surprises in trucks are always great
I usually donner comment a lot but man...what a beauty! You mâle it look easy to build even though it's not! Thanks for sharing that journey
Thanks for stopping by! We appreciate the support. It's definitely not easy but it's all a labor of love. We hope you keep popping in to watch this build progress!
I've been watching this for the last few episodes. Great work, this is the build I've been waiting for, a full on ground up. No BS swap hackery, or "retro" electric....
Thanks for the support! When we decided to do this, we knew we had to pull out all the stops!
No tunnel! It's electric, make it look like it! 👌🏽
I now wake up every Wednesday and look forward to seeing this build 👌
Thanks Ben! Me also, even though I see it everyday I still love the videos.
@@SalvagetoSavage great build to watch here from Australia
Great Gravitation. It going to look great when you finish. Great Job
Trans tunnel could be used for wire, cables, and coolant lines. Make it easily accessible with removable panels.
Battery coolant?
@@rsess1116 He is using Tesla batteries. They have coolant going through them.
@@wcatkins ok ok, didn’t know that about them
that C10 will be straighter than it was when it rolled off the Pontiac assembly line. 👍👍
MOREEEE
Lovin the energy!! thanks for the support!
Do a floating tunnel, tie into the front and back but open all the way underneath to highlight the flat floor and you still have storage.
This is true talent here hands-down!! No 🧢.💯💪🏾
Thanks for the support!
More content per video please. Overall wonderful job so far fellas.
these c10 episodes make my day thanks guys!
Thanks for the support! We'll keep them coming!
Small transmission tunnel, to hide things that might have extra. Use the gas tank door for the plug inlet to charge the batteries 😁
Your custom forklift is coming along nicely
😝one expensive, fast ass fork truck
3,000 ft lbs of torque? Holy shit!
This thing is unreal! What a beast!
Make a tunnel but put some speakers in it. Little different but some awesome sound to go along with this wicked build
I enjoy all the little meme cut-ins. Great job to the editor.
Glad you like them!
What an awesome build, enjoying this series 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🦘
Glad you enjoy it!
I cant wait to see this thing finished.
Teslas we’re the ultimate sleepers at one point. You saw it beat cars that had twice the horsepower it did. Think this truck needs that same thing. Looks 100% like a regular C10 truck, but has all the modern appeals and racing aspects as well.
It's starting to look like a real truck .Looks good .Great work .👍💯
Thanks!!! 👍
Tim! This is amazing. Been wishing someone would do something like this. I recommend for the next electric project, do the same with one of these:
64-66 Lincoln Continental
69 Lincoln Continental Mark 3
67 Cadillac ElDorado
65-68 Cadillac Coupe Deville/Sedan Deville
62-64 Chevy Impalas
68 Chrysler Imperial
62-65 Oldsmobile 98 (custom?) sport coupe
64 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday coupe
62-64 Oldsmobile Starfire Coupe
71 Ford Thunderbird Sedan or Coupe
71 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Coupe
79 toyota corolla SR5 liftback
70 Buick Electra Limited/ 225(?)
Central console with all the electronics built into it, kind of mimicking a transmission tunnel
I had a C10 for many years built up old school with a 400sbc/ M21/ 3.73., I freakin love this!!! Make mine center steering & 3 seats wide like an F1 McLaren. Its so different it needs to continue on into the inside as well!
Amazing build so far. Loving all the fabrication work, you boys have got some major skills. Keep the video's flowing, huge support from the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧
This is the kind of build that amazes me because it's so awesome.. but I would have never thought of this swap ykwim🤙🏿
Thanks for the support!
This truck is going to be sick, I love it.
Can’t wait to see this done and driving!!! Need to start saving my pennies to get this done for my sled one day. Great job keep it going!!!
Don't forget to brace the bottoms of the bed rails around the wheel opening front and rear or your gonna get a lot of wind flex and possibly crack the paint when finished.
Very cool project
Love the 'here's what we're going to do' story telling method, makes it easy to follow what's being done without constant interruptions during the work itself.
Would love to see a flat floor with a bench seat, but sounds like you need buckets for the track so flat may be a bit plane. Maybe some type of center console?
Can't wait for the next video!
Thanks for the support and the feedback! We'll keep the videos coming!
It is so awesome to see this channel taking off. Really great content. Keep it up!!
You guys do phenomenal work keep it up
Always wanted to do this. Super awesome!!
Absolutely love this build, my favorite on the tube right now, excellent fab work and whoever is doing the Video thing is doing a great job as well.
keep it up.
Thanks for the support and the feedback! We're stoke to have you on board. We'll keep pumping out the content for you every week!
you guys are so professional, loving this build.
Thank you!!
Flat floor..the counsel will be enough for wiring and such...very kool build
Good stuff guys, that’s going to be a fun truck
Regarding the tunnel, this would be the perfect opportunity to do something really different like making a tunnel that’s bigger at the top. It will be completely opposite of what most builders would do, start off with a very thin profile at the bottom and have it turn out like a upside down pyramid, you’ll get more foot room and have a unique look. Normally designing the tunnel this way would be impossible, but not so with an electric vehicle. You could also design a tunnel with a C profile, from the passenger side it would go straight down to the floor but from the drivers perspective it would be like a shelf with a space underneath.
That would definitely have a super car sort of feel to it!
Needs a “transmission”tunnel could have like a built in fridge/cooler like a rolls, and other storage.
Don’t forget the sound deadener, wherever possible that won’t catch on fire 🔥
To deaden the sound of silence?
@@LuvMyGT500 From the road and tire noise, Bugwit
It’s a roadrace / track truck, extra weight sounds like a great suggestion 👍🤦🏻♂️
@@LuvMyGT500 Ok bugwit
@@regsmith7604 at least you’re able to make your point without name calling, the sign of an intellectual for sure 👍🏼
You guys are awesome!
Loving the builds and the quality of the work you guys are doing. I wish I had a smidgeon of the skill you guys have 💜
It's just time and patience! We appreciate the support and the compliment. We hope you keep following along with this build!
Turning out sick!
Thank you!
Damn yall are deff blowing up 100k views on almost every episode on this build let's go!!!!
It's all because of people like you! Thanks for the support!!!
Love it !
best truck ever!
Flat floor for sure. No transmission tunnel, no Center console, no unnecessary extra weight
I absolutely love this!
Thanks for your support!
Nice build ,leave the 🔥wall Flat
No tunnel. Just a bench seat.. old school
Ah!!! Such a great build!
Can't wait to see it finished :))
Great content guys! Keep it up :)))
Thanks for the support! It really means a lot. We'll keep hammering down on the build if you keep tuning in!
Love this project!
Thumbs up!
Thanks for the support!
Clear Center Console, also Clear plexiglass down the center of the bed as well you guys have to show that battery off some how !!!!
No trans tunnel but I would do a state of the art infotainment screen molded to a center console. Some that screams SEMA quality!
Keep up with the awesome build!
Transmission tunnel... no says I! Cooler 🤫😉
Amazing content! Keep it up!!!!!!
Finally a solution to cab corners! Also, agreed flat floor, but the boss wanted a Custom center console anyway.
Great work. Hi from Melbourne, Australia
Drove a Honda CR-V once and kinda loved the flat floor. Don’t know why but being free to sling your feet wherever is liberating. Kinda on the same subject I used to drive this fiat iveco delivery truck and it’s floor dropped by the door to become a step and on long trips it felt good to dangle the leg into the abyss. And that’s all I know about floors… lol
Best build....😊
For me center console....if not trans tunnel
Awesome content
Class...
Another good video! It's getting closer.
So close! We can't wait till it's ripping!
Maybe some sort of a low-profile yet sick center console
Go over the top, make it charge itself while you drive it. Wind tunnel up front in engine bay and ☀️ panels on top of the bed.
Add a beer cooler disguised as a transmission tunnel 😎
Man I love these vids!! Can't wait for the next one 😎
Centre console kinda thing for sure, but nah on the tunnel.
Does anyone else think that Donnie sounds a bit like Patrick Mahomes?
Looks great , you should make the bed floor be a hood like structure for service and so the frame work can be seen 🇺🇸
Great content !
Thank you!
No transmission tunnel. Why sacrifice leg space needlessly?
This is a very cool build
Thank you!
artistic yet intelligent fab work. Y'all remind me of a sculptor friend of mine. Engineers mind with an artists soul.
We try to be an art studio as much as we are a speed shop. We really appreciate the compliment!
No tunnel. You can run wires underneath the floor. make it clean and smooth.
Put the trans tunnel in it and use the empty space for something and put a slap stick in it and get it to work ik it’s only got drive and reverse but I think it would be a unique touch
It would be a bad idea to put in a trans tunnel, you're taking it to SEMA you want it to be as different as much as possible. Plus showcasing that you gained a lot of room inside the cab is nice a tunnel defeats that purpose as well.
You guys added more bracing for more protection against bumping and movement of the bed. But more mounts just make it harder to get it back straight after a bump. More brackets are more points to move and not be aligned where originally. Might want to rethink having more mounts for that bed. In that case less is better actually. Again due to less relocation spots to pull or replace when actually bent. Even small bends will move them all
