Clipping Compressors for TONE

Should we really clip the input of a compressor? Probably not. Well, definitely not actually. But when you do, in this one specific case, it sounds really cool. So, do stuff you're not meant to once in a while, put conditioner on before shampoo, you won't hurt anyone. Enjoy yourself.

I like the vintage modes the best for this application. As far as I can tell, the studio modes on limit sound the same and the vintage modes sound the same. And then there’s classic. It’s brutal. Logic’s compressor was my go to soft clipper for ages until I finally bought a clipper plugin. Sounds great.

Those other clipping modes I've found are a cheat code for heavy transients though, great for EDM drums :)
