I'm really glad she mentioned her husband supported her at the beginning so she could quit her job, cos that's an important factor. Would love to hear more from romance authors who are single and self-supporting AND still manage to reach this level of success. Rapid release is proving so difficult for me because I have to work and support myself. So exhausted 😬 Good interview, nonetheless, for sure! Thanks so much, Rosalind!
@Christine C. I second this, I'd love to listen to more single romance authors because most of them that I've listened to have a partner/husband who could support them during the writing and launch period.
I work in an arcade, I spend a lot of my time watching over the place. I can write at work and I live in my car (by choice) I know I got lucky, but maybe try to find a job where you get away with writing most of the time.
So pleased to see another bestselling romance author being interviewed. Rosalind is very open about her process and her sales online, so glad you guys choose her to interview and chat with.
Another great interview, but there was one thing that was not really explored, she was a marketing professional for 20 years. She gets marketing at a very deep level. From her discussion about the importance of quality to her ways of connecting with her readers it is obvious that she has tremendous built in marketing savvy. She is graciously humble about her success, but if you listen closely she gets that crucial reader connection.
There is absolutely no comparison between trying to publish back in 2012 and doing so now. I saw it all happen in real time. It was relatively easy to be succesful in romance back then, with little to no budget, no editing and a crappy cover. She was right to emphasize it was very different times.
Fun episode! I loved how James went from kinda being skeptical about the romance books to being intrigued by the hooks the author was bringing forward. Awesome interview!
Great episode. Rosalind is right on the money when she talks about the importance of the characters and the development of the relationship to hook your readers. I have a couple of authors I read who write in somewhat different sub-genres of romance, and they're a one-click buy for me because I love how they tell their stories. Great advice. What amazing success, well done, Rosalind. I can only hope . . . .
@@Wendy-Writes Absolutely. A favorite of mine is Nichole Van. She has two complete series and is starting a third. One, the House of Oak is a time travel trope, the second is The Brothers Maldetti, which is a contemporary paranormal series. The third, that is just starting, is an historic romance series called Brotherhood of the Black Tartan (the first book is Suffering the Scot). All her novels are pretty squeaky clean, but they have all the feels. I like a steamy romance as much as the next person, but when Rosalind mentioned the ability to create characters and story lines that draw the reader, I thought of this author. She may not be your cuppa, but I love her. I hope you do, too.
HELP !!!! - After sending over 300 proposals to agents for my book "Rebel With A View, The Florentine Diaries Of Oscar Wright, 1997 - 2002", a got a note from a small publisher whoo said, "sounds interesting, please send me the full manuscript" which I did....however it has been 6 months with just one other exchange of emails and then silence....my question is, should I continue to wait or self publish ?

Ditto! Im currently supporting mine, so without support it is difficult.

Awesome story! Even though before she started (unbeknownst to her) she was more competent and experienced than I, her story still encourages me!

Love this lady! Found her on Audible Escape and I am loving her New Zealand series! Wishing her much success in the future!
Love the interview! 3 times I’ve been playing it today
This lady is amazing!
Branding your book themes, not just the category!
Great episode, thanks guys! Rosalind is an inspiration.

Always looking for a good read! Would you share the author names?

I've seen your book covers Ines, I'm not sure it would be a fair comparison! :) . James.
