Okay I know this video is like, 8 years old, but just wanted to say thank you for making this series. I definitely don’t practice poi often, but when I do I always open this playlist and pick up where I left off. I’ve finally gotten comfortable enough with opposite direction and butterflies to start opposite direction flowers!
Very clear and concise. This is the first time I've ever watched any tutorials on this sort of stuff, but as soon as I saw your first tutorial I went ahead and bought a pair of Poi, knowing that with your direction I could achieve great skill. Thank you :)
You're a very good teacher. My boyfriend and I have been watching each week and you are definitely helping us get the hang of it. I just revisited this video as a refresher! Thanks for the lessons! :)
Okay it took me 3 months to watch part 2 just to be sure i could understanding and was able to do the moves from part 1, still not great at it but needed to move forward. Thanks, you do have a way of teaching the love of poi!
thank goodness you didn't go into split time this 'week'! (it will be a month for me ;D ) i had success doing the single arm flowers, i'm ready for the next step. i hope! thanks a billion!
after sooooo long (::looks for last comment::) (1 year!) of practicing the 'turn' spins and the first flower, i am AT LAST ready for the next level! (i wasn't able to practice a lot in that past year; it's really been the past 6 months or so.) thank you AGAIN drex! everybody following along and not ready for next 'week's' tutorial in a week... keep hanging in there! that's the beauty of the videos; they're always ready when YOU are!
Yay! I'm so glad to hear you stuck with it :) I remember my first year of spinning I'd work on the stuff in Nick Woolsey's videos for weeks on end and then by the time I finally got each trick down he'd have a new video coming out. It was perfect! What goal are you trying to hit next in your spinning?
i was sorta accidentally doing the same time flowers. but on the sides, i would just lean out to the side to keep the poi still poi-length apart. i need to try to do more between-the-arms like you show here. my planes are not very parallel, so that is a bit of a challenge. next up will be the butterfly ones, since i can do butterflies and have been experimenting with doing them at different heights. and surfing yesterday i saw your 'zan's diamond' tutorial. yeah... that might be me in about 7 years ;D keep spinning, drex! you're great!
drexxxxx! you are an amazing and patient teacher! (especially since i can pause and rewind as much as i want...!) but i'm here in the "Basics of How to Spin Poi" playlist, and Flowers Part 2 comes right after Turns Part 3... and no Flowers Part 1. eep! when you have time, could you add that one in? oh, i found it there on the recommended videos below...! thanks a million!
Thank you so much Drex!!! I saw you at the Barefoot Monkey convention and you were super helpful! Thanks for uploading these videos!! :) BTW people reading these comments, buy his poi! They're great. And a great price. Just saying.
How can you do the 'cross' without hiting one the other???? I cannot... I cant find my mistake. Anyway your videos are amazing!!! Thank you very much!!!!!!! :D
Hey I have a question about my poi there just cheap practise ones but I find when im trying to do the crossed butterfly then swoop out as in your part 2 flower tutorial that mine hits of my body and against each other and swings more back than to the side. Could this be to do with my poi? Where the string material attachs to the silver hoop where my finger holes are it is not fixed so it can slide round the silver hoop but I dont see this happen when im.swinging. could this be the possible issue thats causing this or is it I just need to practise more? Thank you
i have a similar issue happening and i was wondering if it was my poi i do other ones but since ive been rusty ive been using my rice sock ones, and theyre probably not even by any means of benefiting my practice lol
9 years later and this guy is still helping people like me learn new tricks. Thank you so much man!

You should go back and check out some of my earlier tech blogs. There's one where I break a light fixture. Finish your drink on that one!
