@@Seven-Seas-of-Baba-O-Riley I thought so too but my recent experience with one of those crawlers leads me to believe that the railings are no longer safe
Most important thing about the spider is that you should just ignore it if its out of your way somewhere, only fight if it's in your path. Spider has a pretty nice power level 3, and unlike Thumper (don't remember his lvl though) it'll just stay put in one location once it's set up, so that will be less monsters on the map as long as it's alive. Also, yeah, that bite ain't a joke: take the slightest bit of damage anywhere, and spider can easily become your undoing if you're not careful. You're gonna make a guide for every creature? That'll be freaking dope, but even if you don't, you still got a sub from me, the nutcracker one was a godsend :)
This is especially true on harder maps where unkillable enemies spawn more frequently. On lower difficulty maps it can mean losing a lot of loot just to cut down on snare flea and hoarding bug spawns. Generally don’t kill spiders and easily spotted snare fleas unless you have to, and don’t kill hoarding bugs unless they have a nice stash already piled up.
Its especially potent on Rend where any Spider spawn is essentially a blessing. There have been multiple times where a Jester, a Bracken, a Spider and something non-threathening spawned and I basically knew that this would be all I had to deal with, especially if close together somewhat... The moment I got the loot from main where the spider and jester were, it was fire-exit time and all I had to look out for was the Bracken (not a particulary hard job, especially not on Rend that has a good lack of turrets)
@@diztinger Every map has a power level and every enemy has a power level. A map with a power level of 10 can only have enough enemies to meet that power of 10. A spider has a power level of 3, while a snare flea has a power level of 1. That means there can only be at most 10 snare fleas or 3 spiders and 1 snare flea. It’s basically just the difficulty level of the map and difficulty level of the enemy. All their values are on the wiki.
You always have to glance at him quickly (though I myself am not sure what 'quickly' means, so I try to look at him for ~1 sec just to be sure Bracken will register it) After that, you have to ignore him for a while (20-40 sec) - every second of staring raises his anger Also: looking at him through some transparent walls (like shelves) often doesn't count: Bracken will still think that he is hiding It seems like Brackens anger does not reset passively, meaning that, eventually, he will attack even after the 1 second stare( After the attack mode, he resets his anger no matter the outcome
You can do 1 of 2 things with the Bracken 1. The way I deal with him. The only times it's failed me have been when I entered a doorway to be completely in his face and another time when I got spooked by him and fell to my death. Look around a whole bunch for him (if you don't get 'most paranoid' you are doing it wrong) and once you find him, he'll make it very clear he was spotted and kindly fuck off. Only a short glance is needed. Stare at him too long (~1s) and he gets pissed. 2. Peripheral vision. Upon seeing a Bracken, keep him in your peripheral vision until he goes away. Not much risk of ticking him off here, I think that only goes for directly staring at him. Do either of these + situational awareness and the Bracken isn't too bad. Well, unless he hides around the corner of a doorway you just entered, because if he is too close he can decide to just kill you anyway. A good way to imagine the Bracken is like the protagonist in a stealth game. You want to look at him long enough for him to realize he's been caught and needs to try again, but not long enough he decides 'no witnesses'. Another thing is DO NOT CORNER HIM. If you back him into a corner you will find your neck rotated. Once you do spot a bracken, tell everyone else if absolutely possible. The Bracken is pretty dangerous (you can fight a thumper with a shovel, but sure as hell not a Bracken without a 12 gauge or some serious luck/skill) and as such there is only 1 on any map. Good luck and fill the quota.
Look at him until he starts to retreat, then look away. If there are two or more people looking at him, he can easily get angered, so be cautious, only 1 person needs to look at him.
And one day he appeared, where nobody sought, from nowhere he came, delivering unto all, these guides he made, given freely and abundant. They called him... the Guide Bringer.
Spiders also are attracted to the vibrations of your footsteps, so if they sense you moving around, they will move towards you as well when aggroed. They can sense your footsteps, be wary of that.
Another tip, you can sprint backwards. No need to turn around mid-fight if you know your surroundings. Just tap shift to gain a little distance and keep bopping him
Yeah, but u missed one thing, the spiders seems to be the only monster, who's capable of turning on noclip and getting through the closed toor without even opening it. I was trapped in the small room because of this ability
I think its already been said that they're doing that to thumpers (raising the base speed so smacking them and backpedaling doesn't work), and these have the exact same weakness, so if the thumper thing wasn't just a rumor I wouldn't be surprised to see something like that done to Spiders as well. Shovels are cool and all but they already trivialize Snare Fleas and Loot Bugs. The larger threats like Spiders and Thumpers should really require Flashbangs, Stun Guns, or multiple people to shovel to death without really precise movement (more than just backpedaling, ya know?)
@Ventorath no they shouldn't, making common enemies as annoying as (usually) rare ones makes 0 sense. If ur gonna make everything hard, what use will the shovel have aside from hitting dogs outside the ship door? It'd be very hard to balance it as well :T
Idk whether it's due to the performance of the game or whether it's all about how close you are or the timing of the hits, but I struggle against them.
Just one question, does the stop sign deal more damage than the shovel? Because I’ve witnessed players kill vulnerable enemies more quicker, either that or the enemies were already weakened
Can't you now kill a spider from a railing? I played the game like 2 months ago with my friend but we had work to do and returned now, last time I tried jumping on railing to kill it but somehow it got me.
Dev killed the rail cheese fairly early. There's still a couple safe spots left but they're a lot more specific and mostly used to stall mobs that you can't kill, like Jester or Coilheads or something.
If you can, avoid killing the spider even if you can do it no damage because they take up 3 credits (the highest number). If you kill a spider unnecessarily it frees up room for more monsters like Bracken, Nutcrackers etc. to spawn that are more challenging to deal with.
@@theoryofimagination5214 Unfortunately, yes. I don't think I can link it here but on the Lethal Company wiki it is documented that killing an enemy reduces how much power is being used up. The wiki could be wrong but in most cases it is right.
