    I increased my speed with 50% by blindly following your instructions, so maybe I can improve my speed further. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for sharing your experiences.

    Awesome. I was about to return my ASUS TM-AC1900 because wired internet speeds were 1/5 of what they should be. Hit Reboot and speeds are up to what they should be now. Thx!!!

    This is insane, after the makeover i reached almost 130mbs on both on a chinese phone using the 5gb band... Thanks, it works also for the asus rt-ac87u

      Well for me the mbps were the same (which is fine cause i normally get a good speed) but the stability was WAY better and the upload was way better

    In fact you're completely mistaken. Try to apply your suggestion to 2.4Ghz. The higher Mhz you set the faster connection you get, particularly if you use a hi-end antenna for your PC. For example, I've got USB N66 adapter, if I set 20Mhz I'll only get 150Mbps between my PC and router. However, if I change "channel bandwidth" to 40Mhz - I'll get 450Mbps. While watching your video I saw the Wireless Mode - is set "auto" - wrong again! You should set "N-only" for 2.4Ghz and as for 5Ghz - set "N/AC Mixed" (80Mhz). Don't mix modes with your devices since it can cause a dramatic drop in speed.
    What's next? Channels! You should download inSSIDer. Scan all channels and choose the least used one. ;) Furthermore try to change a parameter of "Beacon Interval" to "80".

      +Mega1bobby Suffice to say that he, before recording the video, should've read something about 802.11ac standard. The router has a class designation: AC1900 (600 + 1300).

      +Hazarti Lirot M8 i was getting 72Mbps with auto and 20/40 so i changed to N Only and 40 Mhz and now getting 150Mbps :) thanx for the info m8.

      +Hazarti Lirot Do you suggest to use the same SSID and password for both the 2.4Ghz and 5.0 Ghz? Tried your suggesting and it worked great, just not sure if I should change my SSID for the bands?

    • @hazartilirot1014

      +Sandeep Kals I usually name two networks separately. Add 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz at the end of the network's name so that you could recognise both networks by their frequencies. Yep, and don't forget to be happy. :)

    Got a newer router of this brand, on the 5 GHz you can leave it to use 20/40/80. 5 ghz just doesn’t travel as far so the interference is much less from other routers using the channel.

    • @Keti_Mporta
      @Keti_Mporta 4 года назад

      It depends. I'm in a condo, and wifi scanning shows at least 2 other clearly-marked 5G networks, from a total of 19 networks shown. I would bet at least 5 of those 19 (25%) are 5G, including my own.
      So I do believe that I'm getting some interference from around.

    No need to reduce bands, professional settings differ on what you wan't to archive, for most home usage everything can be disabled to get max troughput, IGMP Snooping might need to be enabled for IPTV though.
    Isolation is neat too if you don't share between devices on the network

    I think you may have provided wrong information on 5ghz band. For 2.4ghz band, yes, in most of the time, we should avoid using 40mhz. As in 2.4Ghz band, there are only 3 channels non-overlapping, thus we should stick on 20Mhz to avoid interference. However, 5Ghz band, we have more channels to use where rarely overlapping. Thus 20/40/80 is encouraged in 5Ghz band.

      Ying Chun Gee and also the fact 5GHz doesn’t travel as far so is less prone to neighbouring networks

    Great stuff, thanks a ton! I only had to watch until the first one of the recommended settings, limiting the bandwidth to 20MHz and my wifi problem with a Naim Naimuniti 2 streamer frequently dropping connection was resolved. Have a different ASUS box (DSL-AC52U), but this applies across a variety of router brands I suppose.

    • @ilestone
      @ilestone 6 лет назад

      The streamer only supports 2.4GHz wifi.

    • @Kilzu1
      @Kilzu1 6 лет назад

      2.4 GHz wifi is band of which all modern wireless devices support (network card which has 802.11 b/g only support), for 5 GHz band you need device with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support (like iPhone 7).
      Difference between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band is that 2.4 GHz is slower but has wider range and stronger signal where 5 GHz is faster but has smaller range and weaker signal (you won't see any difference between the two other than speed unless you compare the distance and walls between the device and router).
      If you can use 5 GHz band then only use there is for it is faster speed and (if you live in a flat) preventing your neighbors from connecting to it as long as there's a thick wall between you and your neighbor.

    Need some help peeps. I just set up a Asus RT-AC1900P and it seems to work fine. I am on a Windows 10 operating system. For some reason my computer will not show all of the available networks in my area including my 2.5-5G networks. Any advice on how I can get my computer to recognize the new 5g network I just setup? Thanks

    Hi Innomind, great tutorial. Do you have any recommendations for optimizing wired speeds? For some reason my internet speed is cut in half when wired to my router. I get around 47-50mbps wired through my router, when my internet speed is supposed to be 100mbps.

    • @SayWhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

      tell to your ISP not youtube comments.

    • @Kilzu1
      @Kilzu1 6 лет назад

      First if you can, make speed test by connecting your PC directly to the modem or landline. If you get around same speed then issue is with your ISP not router, if speed is between 50 and 99 Mb/s then you need to enable NAT acceleration in LAN -> switch control settings (make sure it is set to automatic, though it will limit QoS or quality of service feature to pretty much preset configurations and won't be enabled if IP specific monitoring is enabled).
      If you have done all that and speed won't improve then you need to purchase new CAT 5 or 6 Ethernet cable (yes, there are different types of RJ-45 ethernet cables which all are backwards compatible just like SATA cables) and make sure that the cable which came with the router is connected to WAN port of the router.

    • @jeremyd5556

      Ravi Yadav 3 years later but if you were wondering still, 20MHz is best for 2.4GHz but 40/80/160MHz is fine for 5GHz in most environments. Don’t listen to this video he’s clueless

  • @billmilosz
    @billmilosz 6 лет назад +10

    His advice to set a 20 MHz bandwidth for 5 GHz is dead wrong. My 5 GHz WiFi client internet 'speed' went from 185 MB/s to 55 MB/s when I did that. (I have a 200 MB/s Internet line connected to my router.)

    • @LIG87
      @LIG87 6 лет назад

      yes... 40 or 80mhz is better for 5Ghz as it will provide more bandwidth headroom for your internet... unless your area happens to be crowded with other 5ghz networks, then its best to stick with 20 mhz

    • @jeremyd5556
      @jeremyd5556 5 лет назад

    Nonsense! 5Ghz should be set to N/AC, 80 Mhz, and Chanel should be manually set. This way I get constant 35-40 Mbytes per sec. set it to 20 Mhz and you will end up with a 144 Mbps theoretical transffer rate and no more than 10 Mbytes per sec real world speed. The professional tab has many settings that need tweaking. 2.4 Ghz should be set to maximize compatibility and range, while 5GHZ should be set up for maximum transfer speed.

    • @Fobicek
      @Fobicek 6 лет назад

      Yes it is true. Only with optimal width 80 Mhz is possible get about 35-45 MB/s. 40 Mgz get about 15 MB/s and 20 Mhz .... end...
