Then I deleted the plugins one by one and refreshed the website, finally I found the plugin that caused the problem.

    Hahaha I’ve been following you for a while now, I have been working for a hosting company for a few years now. You pretty much solved 80% of the issues in this one video alone. Process of elimination is key and you outline those steps perfectly 😂 I just lol when I see comments your video did not fix this, please fix my issue. “Sir I do not have admin access to your VPS, contact your hosting provider” great stuff man!
    Other than that it can be compatibility issues with php or WP ver. Also you will have the occasional Udemy guru that messes with his SQL tables and ends up dumping his whole DB w/o backing up before dabbling with his backend lol 😆

    Really nice video really informative, but when I had this problem it was an error 404 first then I asked my hosting provider to assist in which they did but it brought me to this now error 500, the hosting provider then told me to update my permalinks but even after that my problem still continued. What do you think is a good solution because I tried the first 3 of your solutions with no luck, I have even thought about deleting all the WordPress files and starting over.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Katre',
      It's really difficult to know what to try without taking a close look at your site. After trying all of the options in this video I would normally suggest contacting your host, but you did that already and they weren't of much help.
      Re-installing WordPress may be the way to go, if you've tried everything else. But make sure you create good backups of your site before you delete anything. You may need to do a manual backup since the 500 may be preventing you from accessing your WP admin. Here's a tutorial for creating manual backups if you need it: ruclips.net/video/cfLFO7kiS2Y/видео.html
      And here's a tutorial for restoring manual backups if you need it: ruclips.net/video/7RazMUnBFnQ/видео.html
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    I have a question: when I get 500 status from a plugin, how can I understand where exactly the issue comes from so that I can solve it?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  3 года назад

      I’m not great on the development end of things.
      You can’t display errors on the site since with a 500 error the site doesn’t load.
      You might able to find some information in the error log which you can access through your hosting account.
      There are probably automated testing tools that could help.
      That’s as much as I know.

    • @AysProPlugins
      @AysProPlugins 3 года назад

      @@wplearninglab Thanks for your response!
      The case I was asking about, refers to those plugins, that use ajax requests, and when they experience 500 status (where there isn't any problem with the page load). So the problem is, to find the 500 status, which can also have an influence on other requests' responses (which results in misfunction of other plugins).
      I think it'd be right to do separate troubleshooting.
      Again, many thanks for your time and thank you for your advice. Have a nice day!

    unfortunately non of them worked. I think there is a problem in my php.ini . I remember the error came max_input_vars to 3000 .. but I reverted back to 1000 but it's not fixing it anymore. also I see 2 php.ini file on my site one in home directory and the other on in public html.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  4 года назад +1

      Hi Ameer, I'm not a PHP.ini expert, but I think you can have a separate PHP.ini file for every site. If the site does not have one, then it defaults to what is in the PHP.ini file in the home directory.
      If I were you I would contact my host's support. Maybe they can use some server tools to find the problem.

    Wp learning lab your 500 server trick really worked.
    The plugin-old
    What I figured out what was causing high cpu and memory was the plugin woozone…
    I have 19 plugins in total and 3 inactive plugins making it 22 all together.
    What I noticed from the cpanel was when all plugins were deactivated it was 100 memory green low.
    And then I activated all plugins back except woocommerce and woozone it jumped from 100 to 200 and me not doing anything else.
    I love woocommerce and without it I couldn't have a store.
    Im wanting to create a store online for clothes.
    I have 70 products.
    I also love woozone but feel it's making my memory and cpu spike.
    It seems to only do this when I'm importing products I used to import 10 products at a time but dropped it down 2 at a time.
    Also on products inside woocommerce if I add more image to a product gallery it also does a server overload.
    I do have a cron job.
    In your opinion do I need to upgrade my hosting or is there a way to reduce server overload.
    I already deleted all necessary plugins my website needs to operate.
    I already deleted all themes I wasn't using and from another video of yours on wp super cache I have it installed.
    I also have aptimize cache plugin.
    Do you think this woozone creates too many transients?
    I might have to rewatch your video delete transits have you heard of the plugin transients manager?
    Any help be great my email annabellequinn24@gmail.com

    Thank you for this tutorial. I deleted the .htaccess file as shown, it didn't fix my problem, but did leave me without this file. Would you please tell me how to create a new one from cPanel? I did save the data from the deleted .htaccess file.
    I guess, I just go to +FILE, make a file, name it .htaccess and edit it by pasting the data from the deleted file. Right? :)
    Thank you!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  4 года назад +2

      Yep, that's how you do it. Just create a new file and paste in the old contents. You can also have WordPress generate a new one by going to Settings > Permalinks in the WP dashboard and clicking 'Save' at the bottom of the page.
      Using that method may not have all the contents that you'll copy and paste though.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  3 года назад

      Hi Shiva, it would probably be fixed by switching hosts. You could open an account with a different host and see how the uptime compares. It's unlikely that the issue is your site files, so you could put up any old site in the new hosting account just to test uptime.

    My site was working fine till I shared the link with my followers and it got some traffic then it showed me the 508 error and then I tried the first step and it worked! But then I shared the link again and it broke again, showing me a 500 error. I’ve fixed it again but I’m afraid it break again when I share the link... why do you think this is happening?

      The first method is deactivating plugins and then reactivating them one-by-one. Where you able to determine which plugin caused the problem? Are all your plugins, your theme and WordPress core files up-to-date?

    Hi! So, I changed the plugin name and the site worked! But when I change the plugin name BACK to the original, I lose access to the WP backend that I need to activate the plugins individually. What am I missing? Thanks, in advance! :)

    • @wplearninglab

      Hi Laura, in this situation, since your login breaks with the plugins on, I would change the folder names of the plugins one by one to turn them off. After each one, test the login page. Does that make sense?

      Hi Tohfa,
      It sounds like a plugin conflict. The first thing to do is make sure all your plugins, your theme and your WP core files are up-to-date. Sometimes out-of-date things on your site can cause all sorts of problems. It can even be a plugin that's not related to WooCommerce that's causing the problem.
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    I have 1 doubt, Can we go to wpconfig. php file and set it to false to true so that we can get path just like critical error steps to taught us. So that if the issue is with plugins we don't need to disable all the plugins because if we disable plugins folder all plugins will deactivate and we have to again manually enable plugins 1 by 1 which is a waste of right? What do u think. Plz reply when u see this msg. I really like ur contents and I recently subscribed ur channel

    I have no clue if this is a good place to ask, but I have my website on an Apache server that I have let's encrypt on and things were running great until I just switched from spectrum cable internet to greenlight for fiber internet. I've updated the new ip's everywhere I can think of and everything seems to be port forwarded correctly , but I can't figure out why my site is only live over my own network but not the internet. Anyone feel like helping out this newbie? Thanks for considering.

    Hi, I have a problem recently I migrated my wp site to Bluehost shared managed wp hosting package using Duplicator plugin, but now the problem is whenever I update any post or clear wp rocket cache the 500 internal server error appears but after reloading It disappears, I followed all your instructions but no luck Bluehost support saying server is working fine and nothing wrong on their end.
    i am stuck with this random 500 error and slow wp-admin panel..... 😔

  • @georgepappy2458

    Hi, I tried all four methods and still get the 500 error. I had everything working (had just migrated over to a new host) and was in the process of upgrading to the newest version of Wordpress when everything went to hell. Specifically, I'd just gotten a dialogue box asking me something like whether or not I'd like to share error log data with someone (probably Wordpress?) so they could make use of it for future improvements/bug corrections. I'd clicked "No" when I suddenly got the white screen of death.
    I checked the mod times in my cpanel file manager and the last thing to be modified was the "upgrade" folder in "wp-content" - which would be consistent with things going to pieces in the middle of a Wordpress upgrade, I think.
    I'd just upgraded a bunch of plugins one minute earlier, but renaming that folder to "plugins-old" made no difference, and things still seemed to be working when the plugin updates were completed, just prior to kicking off the Wordpress update.
    Any suggestions?

    My problem is that I get the error only when accessing a certain part of my website. I can access my website's frontend and backend like normal without any problems. The problem only occurs when a user on the frontend tries to register for my website.
    I use the "Membership Pro 2" plugin from WPMUDEV. The registration process works like this: The user inputs their info like normal in the registration form, then they get taken to a page where they can choose which membership they want to join. The user gets the error on this membership selection screen.
    After the user has picked what membership they want to join on the membership selection screen, the page tries to load for roughly 1 minute and that's when I get the 500 Internal Server Error. It says quote, “Request Timeout. This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.”
    It's weird though because even after that error displays, I still get the normal email from WordPress saying that I have a new user on the website and when I check the users tab on the WP Dashboard, it shows that new user in the list of users. Also, this problem just started happening like 2 days ago. I was doing some testing before my site goes officially live.
    EDIT: Also, the user can even login, logout, etc without problems.

    Hi, and thanking you for your help.
    Our frontend was working fine and back end coming up with 500 internal server error.
    From file manager I changed "Plugins-old" and this allowed access to the back end. While in there I updated the wordpress version and can access the back end after changing back to "plugins", however now the front end just comes up with a loading screen. All the plugins in the back end appear deactivated... any advice please and thank you? :)

      I have tried activating the plugins from the back end of the site and it seems you can activate a few and a different plugin will randomly send the page blank each time i've tried to reactivate them?
