@@KotaBearTV I'm thinking snow check next month on a 2022 if the colors are like yours. Sucks waiting but do it right. I credit your videos for just excellent coverage on this machine. It's quite impressive
Yes where I am locally they frown upon it also but depends on where you are like where I am locally I know those land owners and its not a big deal to go right on the edge of the trail they just don't want you going through way off trail and tearing it up
Hey man awesome footage as usual. On the topic of comparing sleds, what did you think of the backcountry xrs you tried out a while back compared to the assault?
That backcountry xrs was alittle tippier on the corners but didn't really push to bad I think the assault handled just alittle bit better in the corners than the backcountry and as for playfulness I like my assault but I think they had the backcountry set up to not be playful so not sure with that
Great sled and video. Lucky to be able to enjoy with your dad. IMO you should try 6 inch shapers next time with the 2 inch track. Great bite just won’t get that ski lift you were talking about.
Thanks and yes i enjoy getting out with my dad!! and i will have to look into that next time i need some carbides would for the ski lift to go away again lol
Awesome footage!! That last trail was a little bumpy and it definitely seems that new assault with the velocity shocks does really well! Can’t beat quality time riding father and son, what do you think your dad‘s next sled would be? Maybe a 137 Polaris? I don’t have any Arctic cat dealers near me anymore, all three of the closest Arctic cat dealers near me all don’t sell cats anymore which is why I switched to Polaris in 2017. Cats used to be really popular but unfortunately it’s just not the same company as it used to be since Textron bought them out. It’s all Polaris and doos now, they have the most marketshare. I’m like you, I like Polaris and supporting an American company
Thanks bud and yes for sure the velocity 2.0 shocks eat up the bumps like nothing and I'm trying to get my dad on a 129 or a 137 for sure hopefully next year!! And yeah he also has always been a cat guy but even near us all the cat dealers are gone now... so polaris it is!
@@KotaBearTV I think the shocks factory setting is kind of having the clickers in the middle, where would you say you have them? Would you say you have them a little stiffer than the middle setting? Yes, plus Polaris sleds have such a higher resale value.
@@KotaBearTV that’s an awesome setup! People always ask me if my XCR suspension is too stiff and the answer is not at all. I have all my shocks high speed clickers and low speed clickers 2 clicks stiffer from the middle which is factory settings and it’s great for the stutter bumps at high speeds and the big drop jumps. With my F7 firecat and my arctic cat F8 my back and my legs would always be sore the next day after riding all day at tug hill but with the Polaris I have never had a sore back or legs.
For sure I like it running alittle stiffer for some reason this way when you do hit thr big bumps you don't bottom out on the bumps and same I don't really get sore either with the big Mongols!!
@@KotaBearTV Curious does it push or get inside ski lift on corners? Just wondering how I will setup to make it work on trail and make it a little better but not hurt it off trail.
It does have some push and some ski lift but if you play with thr shocks up front and get some good carbies it won't be as bad and you just gotta lean into the corner
The assault doesn't have the adjustable stance like the sks did.. I talked about how I wish they had the adjustable spindle on the assault it would make it even better! But depending on how tippy it felt I would probally leave it on the most narrow setting
Awesome Vid love the wheelies! I bought the same exact sled do u use the Ves extreme oil or just the regular Ves I’ve been using the extreme just cause they told me to 😂 lol
It all depends on how you ride for me I will never go back down to a smaller track I like the 2 inch track for the deep days and wheelies and I don't mind it on the trails
have you adjusted your limiter strap at all to make it wheelie like that, i just bought a new 2021 switchback assault and am curious as to how you have your suspension set up?
@@KotaBearTV it's a 1.35 and I will be doing a lot of trail riding I've never had to use ice scrathers before I usually just go into some powder was just curious what your thoughts were. Have any snow down there yet?
Loving the footage! That thing is a wheelie machine!!
Thanks man!! The snow was perfect for it in this video!!!

My next video really will show the capabilities of it even more and I think the color options next year are gonna be really good!
Great content! They frown hard in Wi for going off the trail, just curious if that's a problem where you are?

If you keep these videos going it will save me $20000.00 , and room in my garage all summer
Lol why's that?
@@KotaBearTV I won't have to buy a polaris and all the snow gear
@@KotaBearTV just ride along with the videos
Ahh gotcha now lol you like the pov shot I get with my gopro?
You are absolutely correct about the adjustable ski stance, makes total sense. Seems as if you solved your battery issue. Where in NY are you?
I did intill the go pro media mod just broke on me so now I have no mic... and this was upstate NY richfield west Winfield Bridgewater area
Awesome vid!!👍👍 How does the 2" track handle in the corners?
It honestly doesn't feel much different than my 1.6 at all handles fine

He definitely get sore after the bumps but he still loves riding regardless!!

I went all thr way around at like 300 miles and did 2 or 3 clicks all the way around

Hey man how does the switchback assault manage corners and whoops? I ordered a 23 switchback assault and hoping it will be a great everything sled
It handles it fine once you get used to it but it is no xrc or vr1 but it does both on and off trail very good
@@KotaBearTV Curious does it push or get inside ski lift on corners? Just wondering how I will setup to make it work on trail and make it a little better but not hurt it off trail.

Those wheelies are great, love the videos man
Thanks man I think your really gonna love my next video!!
gosh I wish we had snow here in Minnesota, only got about 3 inches where I am in Minnesota.
Still no good snow yet!! That sucks man I'm praying for you to get some good snow!!

Thanks man!! And I use the ves extream also it's only 5 dollars more and they made it specifically for the 850 motor
What temperatures are you running on the trail with the 2" track?
2 inch with no scratches I run 100 to 120 normally on super hard pack 140ish but you jump off for 2 seconds and back down to 100 110

I left mine at stock setting but I am heavier so I get more pop to get the skies off the ground
@@KotaBearTV I'm a bigger guy as well so I will leave mine stock as well, did you change your spring blocks to the heavy setting on the rear
Nope left everything stock except went up I think 2 clicks on stiffness all the way around
@@KotaBearTV ok thx, I'll give it a shot!
If you still can't get it up mabye look into lossening the limited strap I've never tried it but I am thinking about it
I just bought a 22 switchback I'm exited
I bet hopefully you get lots of snow to rip on!!
@@KotaBearTV well I live in the u.p. so there's no worries there
You lucky bastard lol
@@KotaBearTV lol
Would you recommend ice scratchers for the 146?
depends on the size track you get and if you ride icey conditions i didnt have any issue with cooling at all with my 2inch all season
@@KotaBearTV it's a 1.35 and I will be doing a lot of trail riding I've never had to use ice scrathers before I usually just go into some powder was just curious what your thoughts were. Have any snow down there yet?
Not really anything at all and unfortunately I don't have a sled atm
What shapers are you running?
7 and half inch if I remember correctly
What motors are in the assault and the SKS?
The 850 patriot
I have the same sled and really like it but fit and finish leaves little to desire.
Brett turcotte already did a backflip on the matryx lol
Yeah I just watched the video it was sick!
Richfield springs right
Yes sir
You're a big guy compared to me (no, I'm not calling you fat 😂) would that sled still be easy to lift the skis with a 160 lb rider?
Not easy but it is do able the easier sled to lift skies would be the sks
Where are these trails?
These trails were local upstae NY near richfield area Bridgewater and schylur lake area
It seems you need to tighten up your track...
You heard it at that one point didn't you?
@@KotaBearTV Right at the end of the video, at the end of the wheelie...lol...
I wondered if someone was gonna hear it lol good ears!!

Look up Bret Turcotte he's flipping 2021 matrx 146 in the backcountry
I'll have to look it up mabye reach out to him and see what his set up is!!
Ya it’s sweet. He put an RMK front end on it. But he said he loves the sled.
Don't have that type of money to put an rmk front end on but I'm sure its fun for sure!!
Just watched that video he jumps soooo far insane.
Now I gotta watch the video is it on RUclips?
