Yes on a Viking cruise we were above the theater we could hear them practicing and the actual performances. Now it wasn’t late at night but it was annoying
Yes, on one of our first cruises we booked a cabin just below the pool on NCL. We definitely heard the crew moving chairs and things in the wee hours of the night/early morning. Now we usually try to get midship and mid deck too. But...we have a Princess cruise to Alaska (Our Happy Place!) booked for 2023 that is aft and it is just below the Fusion Club!! We got it mainly for the big extended balcony and glacier viewing. Hopefully it will be OK since we are late night people! 😊
Yes but an unavoidable one …the coordinator of a group cruise was across the hall and 24/7 she had people lining up for a bar crawl or excursion even dinner in the hallway outside my room…even at night they would sit in the hall and talk about who was screwing who…I kept calling guest services to ask them to move to a commons area…but nothing was ever done about it. I never got sleep because even trying to take a nap in the day was a no go …worst cruise ever!
No, we always get the balcony room. We also check floors above and below and stuff around the room. Great video! Thanks eak! ( what we call the channel ) 😅
I recently sailed on Ovation of the Seas with family and we had 4 balcony cabins side by side and arranged for the balcony dividers to be opened and this gave us a very large balcony. Definitely a plus for our group.
We had a connecting cabin on Holland America ship last month. Felt like the couple next door was in our room. Coughing, talking (could hear eve they said!). WE WHISPERED the whole week!! Avoid avoid avoid!
In my opinion...these are the best videos for someone who is looking to cruise and from what I can tell there are more people who are thinking about do so now than ever before.
We have booked Promenade Staterooms many times. We have never experienced music/noise after 11PM at night. It was great to be able to watch parades/activities/etc. from your room.
Two areas to avoid in my experience are 1) under a kitchen and 2) near where the anchors are. The kitchens get started early and there is a lot of rolling carts around. Unless you want to awaken at 4 AM, look elsewhere. The anchors are held by large chains and they are very noisy when they go out which also could be in the early morning hours.
My very first cruise was in 2003, and we went with the "guaranteed inside cabin" on Carnival Victory. We were on the lowest deck at the back of the ship. Didn't know our cabin assignment until we went to drop off our luggage at the port and they had to make tags for us. Horrible vibration all night. Upgrades - got upgrade call from my T/A 2 days before we flew out to Europe for a transatlantic. Cost me $200 total to upgrade from an interior to a concierge ocean view. Now, I wait for MSC to accept my low ball bid to go from a mid ship balcony to a forward suite, with a hot tub on the deck. This would be an awesome upgrade, because I booked on a promotion where you paid interior and got a balcony. :)Fingers crossed.
I’ve stayed under the pool deck, and it was pretty quiet. We did hear the faint sound of scraping chairs in the morning, but we are early risers. Fortunately, the pool area above us was adults only, and this particular cruise line doesn’t do deck parties. The moral is, know your cruise line.
...try and book excursions now too ... cxcl later if need be ... if there available when you book ... book them at same time you book your cruise ... bon voyage ...
Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful as you know we are trying to determine what would be a great start for our very first cruise. Having to do the research on our own is a bit over whelming but with videos like this are extremely helpful! Thank you!
I’m going on the Bliss in a studio in April. I deliberately chose the 11th floor to be above a studio and below a studio with the lounge across the way. It’s also one of the non-connecting ones. My apartment home is near an elevator, so even if I hear that - which I don’t think I will - I’m so used to it that it won’t phase me. Looking forward to my virtual window! I was always curious if the recommended cabin is the best cabin available or if you should always look at the deck plans and choose yourself.
Those were great recommendations. I would like to add that if one needs an accessible cabin, and they want to bid up, they may not get another accessible cabin. (Buyer beware)
Unless you have a group cruise around you which you will never know and they stay in the hallways talking or there are kids running up an down the corridors…remember to use your library voice in the cabin corridors
The general lack of courtesy by other big ship cruisers is one reason we avoid them. Yelling to each other in corridors, acting in restaurants like your group is the only one there and in pools etc. don’t have this problem on river cruises
hubby and i only cruised once, it was during a hurricane, was awful, but loved our room and view. then we caught a stomach bug near the end of the trip, sigh. but if we do this again, i will bring a white noise machine to cut out background noise.
On HAL Eurodam I was back AFT balcony just below the AFT pool. 6:30 am every morning the chairs started dragging. I was surprised they started moving them that early. I survived. 🤷
I basically look at the deck maps and look for cabins that are surrounded by other cabins. Nothing above below or to the sides of you. Also avoid adjoining rooms. On Holland America look at deck6 or 7 on most ships
Hey alisa, I heard the Jubilee canceled the first five cruises because of delays. Was y’all affected by that? If so, maybe y’all can go when we do January 17, 2024. It would be so nice to be able to meet y’all.
We were on a brand new Costa ship in mediterranean and made the mistake of having a cabin right above the theater and heard singing and a live orchestra until midnight. Once on a cruise ship in Hawaii we were down in the bowles of the ship either above or next to engines and the shaking and noise from engines was HORRIBLE!!!!
We went on the Carnival Freedom a few months ago. We were on deck 9 near the Atrium and they were playing LOUD SCREAMING rock music till 11:00 at night. I mean this stuff was coming up 9 decks and it was soooooo loud that it kept us up till it was over. Didn't want to sound like a bitchy old man so we never called Guest Services. So you may want to stay away from any deck near the Atrium.
Celebrity Solstice Deck 6 Forward our TA booked us over the Theater! Guest Services told me I was the only cruiser that ever complained! 😵💫 Then we had a GTY under the Pool Deck! Ugh!
Unfortunately, I need to book an accessible cabin, and we usually book an interior so we can book more cruises. Invariably we are by a crew area and get to listen to them come and go all night long. Not sure why they think all mobility challenged people are deaf also,
Personally I save up until I can afford a suite, with a butler or two at my beckon call. Don’t prefer to ever be crammed in somewhere with masses of people standing in line for food like cows going to heard. Some folks honestly act as though they’ve never seen or had food before! 😂😂
We also avoid lifts and small gray areas marked out as these are usually cleaners lockers and there banged strut all night long…also too close to the stairs. We love bow high but with cabins all around….Definitely balcony.. We love it rough and bonus being able to see the bridge crew….👍🇬🇧
I have a question about cruise I would like to take one it would be my first one would have any recommendations or suggestions at all I have no idea at all
We love Alisa's hair but.... those glasses need to go....don't get me wrong..... love you guys ...everyone that has seen her eyes and that's what we trust..being nice..Sorry ...?
Last 2 cruises we booked spa balcony dead quiet after 9 PM. We did a cove on the Dream and just loved it. We are booked on Jubilee Inaugural Cruise 12/23/23 in a Cove Spa Balcony. Furthermore, we are absolutely sold on Spa Cabins.

Didn’t realize about the gray or blank areas being crew areas, very helpful video, thanks!
I needed this advice before my last cruise. We just got back it was fine, but I had trouble sleeping.
We have booked Promenade Staterooms many times. We have never experienced music/noise after 11PM at night. It was great to be able to watch parades/activities/etc. from your room.

Your new hairstyle is so cute on you! I know the video isn’t about this, but it looks so classy.

Thank you for all of the cruise tips. Very informative

Have you ever been on the Celebrity Infinity? Right now we are thinking of taking a cruise to Greece and Egypt in March 2025 on that ship .

We stayed in an inside accessible room. We loved it.
This was good to know.
Close to the engine room for me the sound drowns out other noise and the vibration also sends me to sleep easily.

My worry is always the non labeled voids and making sure it’s not a connecting rooms
Have you ever done a Disney cruise and is it worth the price for name? Also heard that soda is included. Do they ofer coffee drink packages?
Great advice. Another helpful video.
great info!
What insurance company so you use the handle flight and cruise all in one. TY
If everyone is avoiding those specific cabins, they ship will always sail half full.
I think letting the line to choose depends on how early you book.
Deck chairs and party noise under the pool deck is crazy!
I have heard snoring and peeing from the connecting rooms
Peeing… wow!

Mid ship no connection ahhh yes more $! Yes do your Math.
Another area to stay away from is the elevators, whether crew or public. These end up being high traffic areas.
Stop talking like that about the carnival cruise line and you know like the carnival cruise line you don't need to be on the carnival cruise ships
